Are you concerned with our 1st Amendment right to a free press?

It's just a piece of paper!

Rights smhights!
lostngoneFeb 2, 2012
You have a lot of rights..
The right to remain silent, the right to an attorney(when the Gov allows it), the right to go to jail without a hearing and the right to me tortured.
What more do you want...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Well, according to this
http://en.rsf.org/press-freedom-index-2011-2012,1043.html
US only ranks 47th in the World Press Freedom Index. Which mean there are 46 countries/nations/area who rank better than us, and I bet some of them doesn't even have Freedom of Press written into their Constitution.

The Republicans got a lot of nerve. Fracking is bad and gets into the water we drink. Why would they arrest these people that speak the truth. Oh yes, these politicians are in deep with the gas and oil companies. I wish we had term limits.

We don't need no stinkin' water!

Was this caught on CSPAN cameras? Oh, that's right, Boener shut those off.
charlotte_webFeb 2, 2012
Actually, It was on CSPAN. But don't lets facts interrupt your liberal rant.
equinox2o12Feb 2, 2012
Don't let the fact that we've been saying for years that Conservatives are fascist come back and bite you in the ass... too late.
kareemachanFeb 3, 2012
How about addressing the topic at hand?
martin92003Feb 2, 2012
This is a taste of what the USA would be like if the conservatives have their way!!!
anomaly100Feb 1, 2012
This is OUTRAGEOUS!
P.S: If you haven't seen Gasland, watch it.
geejayeFeb 2, 2012
Yes - it is outrageous - this is fracking, this is American lives.
FTA: "the Republican leadership was using this hearing to attack the three year Region 8 EPA investigation involving hundreds of samples and extensive water testing which ruled that Pavillion's groundwater was a health hazard, contaminated by benzene at 50x the safe level and numerous other contaminants associated with gas drilling. Most importantly, EPA stated in this case that fracking was the likely cause."
You would think that the Republicans would want as many cameras there as possible to ensure the public knew that the EPA investigations were wrong.
Instead, the Republicans seem to need a major cover-up when it comes to fracking.
Gotta wonder who paid them to kick the cameras out and arrest the journalists.

Unlawful entry into a public hearing at the United States Capitol? These are the same tactics being used in state houses and the OWS encampments to shut the dissenters up.

What. Is this a version of the Palace Guard?

Republicans: using big government authoritarianism to cover up their whoring themselves out to corporate America for generations.

So how do you explain Obama's reaction after whoring it up to GE, Solyndra, GM and Wall Street?
Did you know there's no law requiring dog s**t to be cleaned off private property, however Dog s**t causes measurable illness directly related to the Dog s**t?

Where's the list of thousands of dead from natural gas poisoning or the hundreds of cases of exploding houses?
I have it on good source, that 100% of the people named Barak will 100% of the time give money to a poorly organized Green project, simply because his hippie followers eat up the hype and bulls**t like it's candy.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

The guy was denied entry the day before and tried to enter anyways.
Its the same tactics leftists tried at the Republican convention a few months back trying to get people to hit them with cars [blocking the street with their kids...ick], or the classic barging into dinners and shouting.
Whats funny is there was no uproar about the stories of libertarian protestors being shunned out at OWS because they didnt jive the spirit fingerers.
Whatever.
Not to mention this:
by 'ninh':
Josh Fox, that's the guy who lied about the burning tap water, right?
...
"The best fire scene in the movie was shot in Colorado, where the filmmaker is in the kitchen of a man who lights his faucet. But Colorado investigators went to that man’s house, checked out his well and found that fracking had nothing to do with his water catching fire. His well-digger had drilled into a naturally occurring methane pocket.
Filmmaker Josh Fox concedes that the states concluded that the fire wasn’t caused by fracking, but he says the government regulators collude with industry , or don’t use good science…"
Also see the video here where it comes from the horses mouth that he knew about the natural occurrence and left it in the movie anyway because "he doesn't care" and "it's irrelevant".

FOX uses that source for it's news... so does the Onion. Local woman and area man are always there.
eraptorFeb 2, 2012
It's fascism at it's worst.
I wonder where these same politician's and the special interest groups who support them will be after the nation's water supply has been polluted to the point it's unusable by these practices and fracking fluid?
Perhaps, the country should force THEM to drink that tainted water since they disimiss the dangers they're creating for everyone else.
craig1958Feb 2, 2012
A very dumb move. Even if these guys hadn't received the proper credentials, this wasn't the way to handle it. This will generate more negative publicity than any documentary film.

Capitol Hill Police Arrest a Journalist for Filming a Public Hearing - oh man first Mitt doesn't care about poor people now this - the republicans are flipping out!
stackoleeFeb 2, 2012
Of course Andy Harris had to be in the middle of this BS.
Let's recount his greatest hits so far:
You may recall Harris from his proper introduction into national politics. He was the junior member who complained his Congressional health care wouldn't start immediately after running a campaign bitterly opposed to any form of government health care: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2010-11-16/health/bs-md-harris-health-care-20101116_1_health-insurance-health-care-andy-harris
Before this though, he was known for threatening funding to all nine colleges in the University of Maryland system because a student-union group at one planned to show an version of a porno film: http://gawker.com/5196975/
Oh yeah, and he managed to knock out a respected moderate Republican, Wayne Gilchrist, and in the process gave the Democrats their first victory in his district in more than a generation: http://wizbangpolitics.com/2008/11/11/democrat-frank-kratovil-wins-the-maryland-1st-congressional-seat.php
Then the Tea Party happened (with a nod to Obama), and now the whole country can enjoy Harris firsthand.

Huge mistake by the failures that are House Republicans. As usual, the wingnuts make the mistake of not being able to see past their noses. Did you think by this action it would benefit you in the future? Y

Proves that Republicans are only out to fill their pockets with our taxpayers dollars! Just to hide the fact that fracking is causing earthquakes and putting chemicals and s**t into the groundwater! Makes me wonder what else they are hiding?

Welp. That's bad and dishonest, no doubt about it. Now...remind me again...what does that have to do with his arrest in the Capitol? Does it justify it? Is he no longer allowed in?

I didn't make a statement regarding his arrest, did I? Just as to his character.

"methane pocket"
"A 2011 study in Pennsylvania and New York states found a tendency for concentrations of methane to be greatly elevated in groundwater near fracking wells," http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasland#cite_note-12
Those "Colorado investigators" were from the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC), whose goal is to promote the development of Colorado's oil and gas. They would have some major motives for not wanting flaming water tied to fracking.
I THOUGHT it was strange that your whole EXACT paragraph could be found 800+ times on the web (including Foxnews) - quite the echo chamber, I would say.
Meanwhile, I could not find the statements you associate with Josh Fox in any mainstream media (real) news.
Too bad the Republicans arrested Josh Fox and kicked the cameras out the exact day they were disputing the EPA's findings about fracking and water pollution.
I am sure the Republican's version would have cleared all this up. /s

How is it a lie when people are posting homemade videos of lighting their tap water on fire?
