FTA: Justice John Paul Stevens’ observation in his dissent reads far better than Kennedy’s in light of subsequent events. “A democracy cannot function effectively,” he wrote, “when its constituent members believe laws are being bought and sold.”
"Oh, yes, it works nicely for the wealthiest and most powerful people in the country, especially if they want to shroud their efforts to influence politics behind shell corporations."
This needs to change and Senator Bernie Sanders is the man that I follow to accomplish change...
The utter lack of common sense of that Supreme Court majority taking the stance "that money doesn't corrupt" and this allowing corporate money was somehow related to free speech based on a strict constitutionalist interpretation (at least in their own view) has resulted in a failure of their fiduciary duty to citizens and society to protect the core of democracy's principle of "one man one vote" that they ought to have the decency to retire. Lacking that decency only a very public protest may prompt this decision. Any suggestions? Petition signed by quite a few citizens?
I hate to say it but I think we are screwed for a long time. Until there is a major shift in the supreme court or a constitutional amendment is passed this will never be changed.
You can support them if you want, but most people who are liberal won't support any super PACs because the entire concept is a corruption of the process.
Now you can come back with the tired unverifiable and illogical statement that if it is Democratic then it is "liberal" which will prove my next statement even further so think before jumping in.
The entire paradigm in which you choose to roll around and cover yourself is based on multiple false assumptions
1, That there actually is a GOP = conservative and Democrats = liberal world
2. That just because people are liberal they are therefore supportive of the Democratic candidates or the DNC actually does
3. Just because liberals won't support the GOP they automatically support the Democrats
4. That just because you believe your own press doesn't mean it's correct
In push for advertising cash, President Obama encourages fundraisers to support a Democratic-leaning Super political action committee that is backing the president's re-election bid, reversing his earlier opposition to them.
Most of the people whining here forget that Citizen's United ruling includes unions. But THAT'S okay, because the union is made up of people. Corporations are not. /s In true fashion, liberals want their cake but want to eat the rich guy's.

I'm sorry. Sounds more like an opinion or wishful thinking than a fact.
