Does the Department of Justice ever actually argue on behalf of the CITIZENS in these cases, or does it always side with whatever Governmental entity wants to violate your rights?
sedberry09Feb 23, 2012
So should the DOJ just be called the Department of the Other Department That's Reading Your Emails.

Funny, I missed this news in the paper.
Thanks Diggers.

I've said it before about Obama and his administration carrying on the worst atrocities of the Bush administration:
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
And I voted for this jerk. What a crock of $#!7.
FrankLuskaFeb 23, 2012
Obama and his goons against freedom again.
mrjoshuancFeb 23, 2012
Stop. Stop stop stop stop. What you should be saying is "Politicians and their goons against freedom again."
You may think you're on someone's political "team", but rest assured, they are most certainly NOT on yours.
FrankLuskaFeb 23, 2012
You did say it better! :-) I have only one team, the team of freedom and liberty for All. Unfortunately, it seems those on that team are losing to the corrupt power grabbing mongrels, Although i do see more and more jumping on to the band wagon of the Free.
mrjoshuancFeb 23, 2012
Good to hear :) Aside from some of the rhetoric, I'm with ya.
djguerrillaFeb 23, 2012
Wrong. The Obama administration is seeking this. Not the right or left, or any other vague label you want to insinuate. I voted for Obama, but call em out when you see em huh? Don't just look the other way when your guy is pulling pud (Obama is supposed to be the anti-Bush right? This is a Bush era law they're defending)
nerysFeb 23, 2012
ALMOST ANYONE THAT WOULD BE SITTING IN THAT OFFICE WOULD BE ARGUING FOR THIS.
Read what I am about to tell you carefully.
Once a government has seized and secured a "power" from the people.
Short of FORCE of the THREAT OF FORCE. No government in the recorded history of mankind has VOLUNTARILY given up that power.
Not once. Not one single time in all of recorded history.
our political parties are a construct to make us switch back and forth while doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but it makes us "think" we are doing something useful.
they are two sides of the same sleezy stinking coin. the only difference between BUSH and OBAMA is "where they spend our money"
djguerrillaFeb 23, 2012
Agreed. Our political system is broke ass f**k:
1. Corporate money has free reign. Campaign finance is making our political system a "to the highest bidder" affair, with political access: bought, sold, and paid for in donations.
2. People can run forever with no term limits
3. The President is not elected by popular vote but by the electoral college
4. All electoral processes are currently rigged in favor of the two parties, disfavoring any third party
5. The Media keep the game going parroting talk points, and encouraging the left/right Democrat/Republican hatefest. This encourages people to be irrational and shirk their civic duties to their country by being only loyal to party.
6. The only way a two party system democracy works is through compromise. If both sides constantly stalemate over meaningless issues and can't even get to the table to debate on the more serious things, democracy is doomed.
SOLUTION: OUR DEMOCRACY MUST EVOLVE OR DIE
nerysFeb 23, 2012
NO any democracy must die. I do not want democracy. I want my REPUBLIC BACK.
djguerrillaFeb 23, 2012
I guess we disagree. I don't want a republic anymore. It sucks balls having rich people pick your political overlords and not having open elections
fertilebastardFeb 23, 2012
Yes DJ,.. better to have rule by the mob.
fertilebastardFeb 23, 2012
@DJ..
I agree on #1 & #2: Do the term limits, and a lot of the money will go away. There will be no need to raise the massive cash needed to remain a career politician.
#3.. Electoral college is there for a reason.. to prevent the dominance of the large population centers over the folks living in less populated states.
#4 & #5... very true..
#6.. Maybe but, Most of the mess we now have was put in place when both sides comprimised.
mrjoshuancFeb 23, 2012
Quick note: I'm not an Obama supporter. He's not "my guy". I don't have "a guy". I have my personal view of what policies I think are best, and hope that as a society we can find a healthy balance amongst all our views while preserving basic rights. I vote for the candidate that comes the closest to this. However, of late, that's become increasingly difficult. The perils of a two-party system I suppose.
treehugger87Feb 23, 2012
There's no need for divisive rhetoric. All Americans can come together around this one.
battmannFeb 23, 2012
I wonder what anon has or could get for evidence?
thubanFeb 24, 2012
Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in d.c.
Its just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due
odkinFeb 23, 2012
So liberals-
Your side now agrees with Bush, Ready to apologize, or do you want to wait for the Supreme Court to validate them both?
Also, when is the NY Times going on trial funder teh Espionage Act for exposing this legal national security activity?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Schweppesale2Feb 23, 2012
idiot
djguerrillaFeb 23, 2012
Nope. Bush is wrong and Obama is wrong. Wow, the universe didn't explode right then. Weird. /s
treehugger87Feb 23, 2012
So conservatives-
Why don't you spend your time railing against things like this instead of against fictional Obama?
I think the only people who think warrantless wiretapping is a good idea are the politicians (who are sold out to the telecomm companies), the Telecomm companies who see $$$$$$$$$, and total fools who don't understand the issue.
And yeah, I get your point. At what point do the laws become so restrictive that we are all breaking the law at all times?
