I'd be scared of letting the President borrow my computer. Imagine the president of the these united states checking diggs collective browser history.

Lemon Party? Must be a new front against those damned Teabags. Let's see what they're... all... about... goddamnit...
Mister Gates, ready the nuclear weapons.

Which is why the President avoids all press conferences altogether... to protect the press from looking stupid...
Right?

This is priceless...his delivery is a crack-up.
vectorbMar 31, 2011
Im not sure if you asked Bush the same question, if Yes would have been the answer.
unclefireMar 31, 2011
I think the answer may have been yes, but that he didn't use it. That's not a joke. I don't think Bush used his (for email etc.).
bs0lApr 1, 2011
yeah, he never responded to a single email I sent him.
kurtwoolApr 1, 2011
Did you ask him about ability for using email?
jonnierodMar 31, 2011
Why not? He had an iPod.
teksavyApr 1, 2011
Dugg for at least one person on digg not still suffering from bds
delphium226Apr 1, 2011
My Pet Goat is in audio book now?
unclefireApr 1, 2011
And you think it is not plausible that SOMEBODY loaded the IPod for him.
Oh, there's plenty of BDS around. Only today it is Barack Deranged Syndrome
jonnierodApr 2, 2011
I'm sorry, I didn't know that stating that Bush had access to technology was also implying by what means he got it. Do I think it's plausible? Like within the realm of possibility? Like in Mythbusters?
How would it not be plausible? How does someone stating that someone else possesses an iPod imply that that person also has an irrational relationship with concept of possibilities?
unclefireApr 2, 2011
Good god. Look, the man was not big in to technology-- no big deal. Now, saying he had an iPod means nothing. Somebody likely loaded it up with songs and he USED it. Big difference from have a computer, using to acquire songs and load them. Still an easy thing-but given he's not a big technophile he probably didn't do it b/c of time constraints of being pres and lack of interest.
He himself said that he would not be using email. So chances are he didn't use a computer much, if at all while president.
Obama on the other hand is into gadgets and tech toys. That doesn't make him better or worse, smarter or dumber.
jonnierodApr 2, 2011
http://www.slate.com/id/2209523/
None of the presidents used email much, as they would be required to store it and release it to the public one day. Looks like Clinton only sent two. And neither Clinton nor Bush had a PC within the White House for that reason. Chances are Obama's not emailing much from the White House either. So that fact that Bush didn't use email much is hardly conclusive.
Bush did use the internet from Air Force One.
I think what made Obama's response so funny was his reasoning. It wasn't, well I'm Obama, of course I have a computer. It was, I'm the President of the United States, of course I have one. It was the office, not him individually, that made the question kind of silly.

i guess we've forgotten even the most popular bushisms.
It may seem like like I was "too busy skipping school" but rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?
mlw4428Apr 1, 2011
Yeah, lots of food. During Bush's time NO ONE in America ever went without food. Why that homeless bum on the corner of my street was eating feasts every other night of the week. Hell he even had to throw some of it out because it spoiled before he could get to it. God those were the days. Cheap gas, tons of job, money in every American's pocket, food in every American's belly, a corporate business environment that kept employees happy, pay and benefits fair, and we had gotten rid of sickness and war. Pff now once Obama took over ALL of that changed instantly. He finished his oath and everything went to s**t in an instant.
I yearn for the days of Bush & Co.
jonnierodApr 2, 2011
I thought it was funny. I got the joke.
rednipApr 1, 2011
Yup.
Three days before his first inauguration, George W. Bush sent a message to 42 friends and relatives that explained his predicament. "Since I do not want my private conversations looked at by those out to embarrass, the only course of action is not to correspond in cyberspace,” Mr. Bush wrote from his old address, G94B@aol.com. “This saddens me. I have enjoyed conversing with each of you."

This is one good thing about Obama - he handles these sorts of things far better than any presidents in recent memory. (Bush was good for a laugh too, but usually to laugh "at" ... not "with")

Simple questions because Bush use much of portable technology as Obama. How did bush lose all that email data.

The same way you lost your english skills.
cmonkeyxApr 1, 2011
This is funny, but it makes me scared to think what the answer would have been if you asked Bush or one of the new Republican possible candidates. Do we really believe Trump or Palin can do anything useful themselves on a computer...
delphium226Apr 1, 2011
Computers are the spawn of Satan because the evil liberal elite scientists made them. So no, republicans shouldn't be using them.

Well given his predecessor used "the google", this is a valid question to ask anyone in a position capable of making decisions about our technological standards of living :(
k31th3rApr 1, 2011
Cool story Obama. Why don't you use your computer to reform the Patriot Act like you promised to do while you went around lying to Americans on your campaign. Maybe you should give your iPad and Computer away since you don't actually do anything good or useful to Americans on it.

Would love to see all the conservatives have even two 30 min town hall type meetings- where they accept all questions. No notes on their hands or knowledge of pre-screen questions.
They never will have live interviews or uncensored questions, will they? the few interviews that they have had always end with stupid answers or casting blame or making excuses.
Do the Republicians have *anyone* *In Office Now" who can actually stand there for 30 mins and field real questions? I don't think so. who the heck can they put up for Pres? they have not one non-selfish person.
