Didn't The President try to shut down that base where the al-Qaeda recruiting literature was found and ship the inmates to prisons in the states where the US has close oversight, but the Republicans torpedoed the effort with underhanded defunding of detainee transit to US soil?
Look how that turned out.

That prison, as well as Bagram and the "Black Sites" that "aren't there" are the best recruiting tool Al Qaeda ever had.
How often has OUR own government used stories about Gulags and prisoner abuse, detention and torture committed by our "enemy" against people of other countries - even prisonets that are American-as a way to fuel the emotionalism and the nationalism of the US citizenry in order to strengthen support for the government;s acts of war?
We did it during WW I, and WW II; we did it during VietNam and Korea...We created islamophobia...
If you were in Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Syria and saw stories on the US invasion of a sovereign nation, the use of kidnap and torture and prolonged detention without cause, the use of drones to murder people, Marines pissing on dead Afghan fighters..what exactly would your opinion be?

Here is the bill for Guantanamo - the life of Earth. Payment due now but no hurry as interest rates are set to rise astronomically.
Magazines in waiting room lobby have covers promoting business as usual and the good life an hardly a mention of heat build up from trapped energy forced by CO2e increase in the sky.. Not a whisper of the impending doom the Arctic melt off spells for Earth
