You have the problem wrong, sir.
I think your biggest problem sir, is ROMNEY has Citizen's United, and friends with MONEY. It is not that you have too many choices.

Divided they do not stand.

This is an age-old dilemma....how to get the troops united behind a single candidate instead of fracturing the field. The main problem for the social conservatives, IMHO, is that many of their grass roots supporters are not the brightest bulbs in the string and are more inclined to vote on emotion than intellect.
The other great irony is that thanks to the GOP led creation of Super PACs there is now virtually unlimited amounts of money available for attack ads against each and every candidate....they are turning into cannibals trying to eat each other alive. More fun to watch than the circus....!!

Yes, they must divide themselves first before thy can focus on dividing the rest of us.

Easy for Richard Land to say. Once a politician gets the presidential bug it's like an addiction. Besides, Gingrich has given a de facto endorsement to Santorum by waging a kamikaze campaign against Romney.

Sane person: Religious zealots may need to exit GOP to stop party from self destruction.
kcast985Jan 8, 2012
Would be smart at this point for Perry to drop out I mean he has no chance and most of his votes would go to santorum but in the bigger picture you are just denying the inevitable by delaying Romney's eventual nomination
brucealmightyJan 9, 2012
I think that is the first time I have ever seen "smart" and "Perry" used in the same sentence.....
pharmaphoxJan 8, 2012
So, if they have to scheme behind the scenes to get Santorum nominated, how do they suppose Santorum is going to win the general election against Obama if he can't even get the majority of his own party behind him?
chestnutridgeJan 8, 2012
Is it any wonder that the Southern Baptist Convention is in decline when one of its most important leaders is scheming to give the Republican nomination to one candidate over another. Where in the Bible did it ever say that the Church is supposed to be involved in this sort of thing? While a lot of conservatives were critical of mainstream Protestant churches when they were involved in political social causes, this is far worse in my opinion. Who is he serving, God or "mammon"?

"Dr." Richard Land? What's his doctorate consist of?
spr0ketJan 8, 2012
From his bio page all I found is this:
"Princeton (A.B., magna cum laude) and Oxford (D.Phil.) educated"
Not sure what that means but it's probably something lame like doctor of religious studies.

""If you took the vote that Santorum got, and you took the vote that Gingrich got and you took the vote that Perry got, and you took the vote that Michele Bachmann got, you would have out-voted Romney two to one in Iowa," Land said."
Yeah...and OF COURSE if you did that, all those voters would vote for Santorum! Riiiight.

All of them? No.
Most of them. Probably.

Can southern baptists stop the AntiChrist from becoming America's President? I am afraid not! The bible has to be fulfilled!
NeosopheusJan 8, 2012
Let's not forget the Trump card. He may still run as a third party candidate, which would effectively split the republican vote.
