The sentence is a bit misleading. It should read "... said the influence of rich businessmen over politicians is undermining perceived public trust in Westminster."

Buying policy which enables them to make more money to buy more policy. Are there any policies that aren't driven by the financial backers requirements and desires?

This from the Department of Stating the Obvious. ' the perceived influence of rich businessmen over politicians is undermining public trust in Westminster'. Politicians wonder why the voter turnout is so low. For the answer, read the article. I do not know a single person who trusts anyone who is in politics.
