"It's not racial."
In what way is this not racial?
cyrockerJul 23, 2010
pssssssssssssst......... it's because she is black. That makes it "not racial".
wilywondrJul 23, 2010
What word(s) do you think is/are racial? If it is the term "whiteman", would the term "caucasian-male" pass your racial test?
rwhittak3Jul 23, 2010
She said that by "white man" she meant the government. Most people refer to big evil government simply as "the man".
iptunnellJul 23, 2010
Seriously??? You're defending her?? How about I run for office under the description, "Not the black man's bitch"? Would that be racial?
Geez! You've got to be on crack to make that kind of argument!
mistrbrownstoneJul 23, 2010
@ iptunnell:
Exactly what I was thinking. What if I ran with the slogan:
"Not a black ghetto thug"
I could claim, this is just a factual statement be cause I am neither black, from the ghetto, or a thug. However, there would certainly be implied racism in that statement.

anything that has race in it is racial. Pretty cut and dry.

Yes. Let's look at history and see which races had colonized, subjugated and pillaged every f**king continent on this planet, systematically enslaving and slaughtering the indigenous peoples. I don't get it. Because caucasians did it "more" it's different? And as someone else commented in here, the very act of being biased towards someone of a specific race because of something their racial ancestors did is just as wrong.
gwhenningJul 24, 2010
@BabyWookie
I believe Genghis Khan made it all the way into Europe. Xerxes made it all the way over to Greece. Shaka kaSenzangakhona controlled most of South Africa. The Mayans and Aztecs ruled South America.
I'd say everyone had a hand in the pillaging.

Before I comment I want to just point out that I believe that the women is a poor excuse for a candidate. Cursing in that manner is never a correct way to go about an election. You have to play by certain rules to be respected as a candidate. With that said, just because of her ignorance, don't get angry specifying that its not racist because she is black. I have been hearing that non stop. Its crazy how now white people are calling racism at every instance now....funny. In other words, when she specified the phrase "white man", she was referencing to big government. It is based off how she notices her whole life that White Americans were the people running most of the Government. I am not saying it is accurate, but she wasn't saying it to be racial.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
analogassassinJul 23, 2010
So if it's ok to call the government "white man" is it ok if I refer to the welfare state as "black woman?"
designerutahJul 23, 2010
Swing and a miss. If you're going to talk about big government, do so. Call it "the Man" which the common reference. The "white" man is by it's very nature a racist comment as it brings race into the discussion. Of course "The Man" is a gender issue, so politically correct speech it's not.

Slave == Slav
My people (Northern European) had been made victims of slavery long before it became trendy to associate "slaves" with "black"
holychickenJul 23, 2010
That type of thinking is most certainly part of the reason why we cannot get over race in this country.
Who is going to believe you that the races are equal when you openly admit that you don't believe they should be treated equally and that they are very different?
The past is the past and if we keep letting it determine what is right right now, then we will never get over it.

jeffh3925Jul 23, 2010
Until 200 or 300 years ago, people of ALL colors and races were enslaved. In the ancient world, slavery was the norm and the fact that a particular race was enslaved is meaningless - all races were. Knowing history is one thing, but living your life feeling sorry for oneself isn't a very productive way of getting ahead in life nor does it help the next generation. (Speaking of knowing history, did you know that prior to the Civil War there were several thousand free blacks in the South who owned slaves? Or that the first link in the slave trade was a black slave trader? Or that prior to establishment of the North American slave trade, a large number of the poor Europeans who came to America came as indentured servants - de facto slaves?)
dankbuddzJul 23, 2010
I dugg you because you're right, and everyone else here is half-retarded... much like most people.
designerutahJul 23, 2010
But eliminating racism requires it to become symmetrical. Otherwise what you wind up with is a cycle or racism and oppression, First group A oppresses B. Then B oppresses A, and so on. To eliminate racism, you have to start treating everyone the same.
How long has it been since anyone was owned as a slave in the U.S.? The last survivor of the Civil War died a few years ago, so the whole concept of remembering the past gets invalidated. If not, then why limit it to just a few generations? Irish have slavery complaints against the Brits (white v. white). The Brits against the Norse (white v. white). Tribes in Africa who captured and sold some blacks to the Dutch who sold them to Americans (black v. black v white). And so on...
It's time to stomp on this now. People are people, regardless of race or color of skin. And how your ancestors were treated has nothing to do with how you are expected to behave today. If it did, then the grandchildren of southern slave owners could still beat their slaves, right? Since we've required them to move past their ancestors behavior, shouldn't we also require the blacks to move past it too, and we all are held responsible to treat each other equally?
graphictruthJul 25, 2010
No it isn't. She may or may not have a personal history of oppression, and obligatory fist of solif**kinderity, an assh**e is an assh**e is an assh**e.
Racism and race baiting, and using racial language as a really cheap publicity stunt deserves a proper s**t storm of derision. Not because she's black, and should be above all that, but because having been exposed to racist bigot ooze, she has a personal appreciation for how utterly f**king moronically unqualified a racist is.
Trust me, until you've been personally slimed by a bigot, it's an arguable proposition.
catalysisJul 23, 2010
If a white person did it, it wouldn't really make sense.
holychickenJul 23, 2010
But you are proving right there why it IS racial.
And what you are doing by saying "black people can say racist things, but white people cannot" is making white people black people's bitches.
Certainly, not in the same way that slavery did, but it does subjugate white people to black people when it comes to speaking about race.
That mindset does not fix the problem, it IS the problem.
dankbuddzJul 23, 2010

Black candidate for a seat on the State Assembly of Milwaukee has mildly offensive but quite racially charged slogan mentioning white people = front page.
Newspaper articles documenting the actual widespread institutional racism of entire states toward minorities complete with sources = 12 diggs.
The irony is stultifying. The very fact that examples of permeating racism toward entire communities of minorities disappear from digg never to be seen again while a not particularly controversial and completely inconsequential distraction that everyone agrees is not only racist but ultimately stupid and pointless to even talk about hits the front page in a single afternoon is one flaw with digg as social media. When it comes to race, this article is meaningless. One woman says something stupid. Everyone thinks it was stupid. Her views are no threat to anyone and no one will ever carry those views forward. She's a nobody.
Meanwhile, issues of race that actually matter and have consequences to the country fade into the background.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Come on guys. This isn't second grade where we should worry about everyone's feelings and give everyone a trophy for effort. This is the real world, and if you get hurt feelings just because of what someone you do not know says, you should go kill yourself. Get some pride and dignity instead of moaning and groaning about what someone else says. This is America, where freedom of speech is guaranteed, and if you don't like it, leave. She should be able to run on whatever phrase she wants. You can voice your disapproval by not voting for her, not by taking away her right to say what she wants.
However, I do agree that there would be much greater uproar if a white person said they were not a black man's bitch. To the people who object to this, I give the same advice: shut up or leave. Everyone has freedom of speech, which should not be infringed upon due to other people's feelings. The sooner we end such a double standard, the sooner true racial integration will occur.
For the record, I am white and would not vote for this ho, but I would always defend her right to say what she wants. Personally, I am not offended at all by her slogan.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Condy Rice thought so as well and ended up saying oops when "free and democratic" elections in Gaza yielded Hamas.

I salute your ability to tell Fat Albert jokes.
fuzzzwuzzzJul 23, 2010
Everyone should just sing Avenue Q's "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" and stop whining about all this PC bullpoop.
banddad09Jul 23, 2010
If she really didn't want to be racist she could say "Nobody's b****".
iptunnellJul 23, 2010
What kind of moron would come to the defense of this woman?? Not only is it completely unprofessional for someone running for government office, it is clearly racially directed. To argue any differently violates the definition of common sense. This reminds me of Clinton's "it depends on what your definition of 'is' is." mind boggling statement.
I swear I found Idiocracy in the comedy section of the movie rental store, but I'd bet it has been moved to the documentary section by now!
marx2kJul 24, 2010
So you're against allowing this to be put on the ballot? How do you feel that relates to the issue of free speech?
chilidogsJul 24, 2010
"I don't agree with what you are saying but I will defend to the death your right to say it...unless yer black."
ninjaboyJul 23, 2010
Every one is hatting on her. But where the f**k is freedom of speech. Sure "whitemans bitch" will probably offend a lot of people....SO f**kING WHAT! Justin biber offends me, lets stop him from making music. Why is it wrong to be offensive? Let her slogan be "Not the white mans bitch, you f**king gentlemen" People wont vote for her, but she has the rights to say that, at least if this was a free country. I'm sorry to see you being dugg down. I'm guessing that those people must not be from America.
ninjaboyJul 23, 2010
*sigh* I thought it was my right to be racist (i'm not). I was under the impression I could say just about anything other than fire in a movie theater or bomb type threats. I was also my impression that this was most important in political and government type speeches and beliefs.
You are the people eroding our rights.
ninjaboyJul 23, 2010
So there were totally more comments above mine and below Sean23's. Either digg glitched out or the users deleted them. Just thought I point out that i'm not just replying to myself to hear my self talk.
bracomadarJul 23, 2010
I'm glad there are a few people left in this country like NinjaBoy and Sean23 that understand what freedom really is. If the First Amendment only covered stuff that everyone liked, then there would be no need for it since nobody would object to it. While there are laws that go against the First Amendment, I think it's meaning is very clear and it still holds a lot of power over our daily lives. Where's the proof that it protects racist hate speech? Well, we aren't going out and rounding up KKK members because they voiced their racist opinions and used racial slurs all the time.
If you don't like what people say, then don't vote for them, don't do business with them, ignore them, voice your opposition to what they said, etc. When people aren't allowed to voice their opinions, and don't feel like they're being listened to, they get desperate, and that's when they tend to turn violent to get their message across. I'm not saying this woman is going to turn violent, but I think it's an important thing to help secure peace in this country. If people are talking, they probably aren't throwing their fists, or shooting at each other. If you don't like what someone is saying, then don't oppose it with violence and force from the government, but by better words. If you can't combat a racist, or anyone else on equal grounds at a war of words and ideas, then you've just lost the argument. I don't think anyone here is defending her personally, myself included, just the freedom she's trying to use.

I'm not hatting on her. I don't feel she needs a hat. And I'm fine if that's what she wants to put on HER election material ... but I don't think it's appropriate on the ballot. And it's kind of sad that she thinks it might get her votes.
v3n0mJul 23, 2010
No.. it's really sad that it might.
marx2kJul 24, 2010
It might not be appropriate, but really, she should be allowed to put whatever she wants on there.
agrabesJul 23, 2010
There's a difference between being offended and thinking she's an idiot.
No, I don't believe that a representative of the state of Wisconsin should use profanity in their campaign. I'm not offended, but I feel that it is not appropriate for her to use the word "bitch" as her description on an official ballot and I feel that it is within the rights of that group of judges to ban the words. If she had made a racist statement without using profanity, I feel that she should have been allowed to use it.
Imagine if President Obama or President Bush had used profanity in their campaigns? "I'm gonna win that f**kin' war in Afghanistan!" is not an appropriate campaign statement.
marx2kJul 24, 2010
Everyone voting is an adult. As a voting public, are we seriously so emotionally fragile that we can't handle the word 'bitch' on a ballot?
agrabesJul 26, 2010
Again, it's not about being fragile or offended. It's about being professional and representative. As a government official, your public speech should not include profanity because it makes you seem childish and immature, letting your feelings take control and hindering your job performance.
If you were making a business call, would you use profanity? With a few exceptions, there's no way that you would. It's about being professional and keeping your personal life separate from your work.
ventg4funJul 23, 2010
I'm no prude by any means, but she IS running for a legislative position. Whether the slogan is racial or not, it's still profane and should NOT be allowed. If elected, she'll represent ALL of the people in her district, all races, colors, and ethnic backgrounds. I think more professionalism is called for here.
marx2kJul 24, 2010
But... if she's elected, then clearly the people would have found that her and her statement represent them.

The worst part is a sitting judge and a board member defender her.

It's more of an upwhimper.
If Dick Cheney would've come out on stage at some point and said, "I ain't no gentlemen's bitch, yo!" and then shot someone in the face, there would be uproar.
This? Aside from the people posting in this article, I can assure you, anyone I encounter in the next week won't have even heard of this non-story.

No, it's just an article on the front page of Digg. I haven't seen it anyplace else.

The scariest thing is that 3 out of 4 judges voted FOR her.

Yeah freedom of speech is super dumb!
