Iraq belongs to Iraqi's now. They are free. Mission accomplished.

Iraq belongs to bomb makers

Big oil will protect them.
red1000Aug 11, 2010
Right, we just need to stay until things are stable there. I mean how long could it possibly take? Things tend to settle down pretty quickly in the Middle East.

Its like a double edged sword -
Obama says "We're staying" which will turn into him not getting troops out and thus the hate comments begin..economic spiral continues..etc..etc
Obama says "We're leaving" which will turn into Iraq NEEDS us and its VITAL to National Security..etc..etc..hate comments begin..
Either way people will find a way to hate regardless of political affiliation. Like Alphalion mentioned, Iraq belongs to Iraqi's now, lets GTFO.

Like how Bush entered Iraq for all the wrong reasons?
boozedrinkerAug 11, 2010
LOL - let those f**kers govern their own ridiculous country. No need to spend any more American money. They'll never get it.
alienufoAug 11, 2010
hes keeping his promise. Now if only he would change his mind on afghanistan....
haoleboy86Aug 11, 2010
Bush got INTO Iraq for all the wrong reasons while the media slept. Now they jump all over Obama for finally getting out and bringing our soldiers home.
rodalliAug 11, 2010
Bush got into Iraq because the public slept. What is it with this expectation we've developed that it's the media's job to police our government? It's up to you and I to hold our representatives accountable. If you don't like the way your country is being run then stand up and do something.
haoleboy86Aug 11, 2010
To an extent, that's true. However, when the media focuses in on something, they empower it. They empowered the Tea Party (an absurdly small percentage of the American people), they empower terrorists (after all, that's what terrorism is all about - if nobody covered their actions they would be done in vain), but when we got into Iraq the number of media outlets truly testing the merits of Bush's foreign policy were staggeringly low.
Also, from the article... Tariq Aziz was far from Hussein's "apologist-in-chief." Yes, he defended the use of chemical warfare against the Kurds, but he was a high-profile Catholic in an Islamic country who urged Saddam to go along with the inspections and was portrayed as a liar by Bush because he insisted that there were no WMDs.
455holeAug 11, 2010
no... not bringing soldiers home. moving them to Afghanistan.

Sorry, it's time for urs to go, we never really should have been there in the first place. It's time for the Iraqis to stand up for themselves.
rj78Aug 11, 2010
We've given them excellent training, but that doesn't mean that they are well trained, or capable of handling the situation. Iraqi ICO's and Soldiers are incompetent for the most part, with the attention span of a 5 year old.
I agree though, we should cut our loses and gtfo
digg2point0Aug 11, 2010
"President Barack Obama appears to have overlooked one rather vital consideration. The Iraqis are desperate for them to stay."
Uh, no... No they do not want us to stay.
dustin00Aug 11, 2010
Our staying there will not change that the country is f**ked up.
Let the religion of peace spill its own blood and piss away its money.
chuckdeesAug 11, 2010
Didn't the UK pull their troops out of Iraq in 09?
Closed AccountAug 11, 2010
We don't need to stay. They can fend for themselves now.
Closed AccountAug 11, 2010
How many British troops are in Iraq right now?
skinturtleAug 11, 2010
People complain because they are there...they complain if they leave.
Can't win.
aadainAug 11, 2010
Exactly! Might as well same some American soldiers' lives if we are damned either way.
rizzosbackAug 11, 2010
I don't give a s**t why he gets out, so long as he gets out. It's a stunning waste of resources.
angelbunnyAug 11, 2010
Obama is getting out of Iraq because it was a campane promise for him to get out latest of august 31st. If keeping your promises is all the wrong reasons then hot damn..
ivanmarshAug 11, 2010
Stop being a pussy and just re-title it "I'm going to bitch no matter what Obama does".
puterAug 11, 2010
Haven't people spent the last couple years complaining that Obama hasn't withdrawn troops?
Now that we are withdrawing troops they are complaining?
Apparently Digg articles only make front page so long as they say something bad about him.
poitnarfAug 11, 2010
FTA: "Five months after Iraq's general election, the main political parties are still arguing over who should form the new government. This political vacuum has been filled with an upsurge in the sectarian violence that has plagued the country since Saddam's overthrow in the spring of 2003. Consequently, more civilians are being killed in Iraq today than in Afghanistan."
Iraqis, stand together or fall apart. You've had your training wheels on for a few years now, time to take them off.
rj78Aug 11, 2010
Stay in Iraq = Nothing changes and we waste money which could be better spent in Afghanistan
Leave Iraq = Iraq is still f**ked, but at least we aren't wasting valuable resources (Not to mention the patience of those actually serving there...)
Nothing is ever going to change unless the entire place erupts into a s**t storm and a massive amount of people are wiped out in a matter of seconds, resulting in massive aid and support from the UN and other allied nations.
We have over stayed our welcome, and it is time that we move on and let them going about the business of killing each other off instead of us.
