csmonitor.com— While there are strong grounds for doubt, here are some reasons author Jeffrey Goldberg could be right. A nuclear-armed Iran would profoundly shift the strategic balance of the Middle East.

Let's hope & pray it doesn't come down to this. Ahmadinejad & the "Supreme" Leader are both crazy as hell. I'd hate for the Iranian people to suffer anymore than they have.
I don't imagine that it would be a new war, but that Iran may already have forward stockpiles of weapons in Afghanistan and Iraq (it shares long borders with both). Iran manufactures much of it's own weaponry and this includes portable anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles. If such weapons were made available to groups in Afghanistan, Coalition logistics could become even more of a nightmare than they already are.
Good point Zenmojo. Iran had a progressive president who helped us defeat the Taliban. We thanked them by placing them on the "Axis of Evil". Iranians then elected Ahmadinejad.
@pintomp3
You are talking about Khatami. Interesting what happened after he sat near the Israeli president: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Khatami#Foreign_policy
"after he returned to Iran, Khatami was subject to harsh criticism from conservatives for having 'recognised' Israel by speaking to its president. Subsequently, the country's state-run media reported that Khatami strongly denied shaking hands and chatting with Katsav."
In February 2004 Parliament elections, the Guardian Council banned thousands [21] of candidates, including most of the reformist members of the parliament and all the candidates of the Islamic Iran Participation Front party from running. This led to a win by the conservatives of at least 70% of the seats. Approximately 60% of the eligible voting population participated in the elections.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and figure that it won't come to that. This article is coming from the Christian Science Monitor: I have a sense they might be a little bit toward the extreme viewpoint on this issue.
Or you need to get real.
Why would any sane and realistic human being want the Iranian Muslim fundamentalist dictatorship to have the possibility of getting and launching nukes? Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Praying for peace is the only thing I can do for the situation over there; but, I do believe in the power of prayer. I abhor bloodshed and don't wish it upon anybody. I also pray for God's will to be done even though I don't always understand his purposes.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Cajun - I know what you are saying. Doing the research and seeing what is happening is pretty scary. I have no wish to see Muslim nations become Christian. I have no wish to see Israel be anything but Jewish....but the crap that is happening is scary for the entire globe. I pray, too.
Don't be a douche. If you have to just change "pray" to hope or channel energy, but don't knock what was said. It was a pretty positive statement on the part of Cajungal.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Prayer without action is worthless. Prayer, asking God to give you the guidance, strength and grace to do what you are going to do...that is prayer. Asking for a blessing for what you are already going to do is where prayer is useful.
Oh, I disagree. Prayer and spiritual feelings are inspirational to people. Think about that monk who self-immolated in Vietnam. Samurai who could perform seppuku on themselves. It allows you to transcend your limitations.
I don't have much use for religion or religious rites, but I feel sadness for people who don't have a spiritual sense. Whether it be meditation, prayer, whatever - being able to look inward and tap into your subconscious makes everything you that much more focused and purposeful.
Finally, the idea of grace and blessings are something which have nothing to lose and everything to do if you add them to your works. When I hear someone has died or something tragic has happened, I always say a short prayer asking whoever their spiritual guide is to give them grace and mercy. Applying a cold, calculated scientific cynicism that comes from anger is fine when you're questioning religion, but is sad when it comes to questioning spirituality. I can understand disdain for people who follow things they know to be wrong, but I pity those who have disdain for the people who have a spiritual connection in their lives. Prayer in many forms is the mechanism that enables that connection.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
See...most people are fine with the idea of "meditation". Calming yourself and allowing thoughts to flow in and out.
I have a friend who was raised Hindu and I was trying to explain the idea of prayer. I was being verbose and using many adjectives and finally she said, "Oh, I get it...prayer is just focused thought."
So god f**ked up his plan and you have to think really hard in order to convince him to correct his plan? Did he not notice he f**ked up his plan? Or did he change his mind? Why would god ever change his mind if he always knows what's going to happen? Yeah. Good luck churchie.
I have read a similar theory which said that Israel will invoke the "Samson option" against several Arab countries. But the attack it will be in reaction to Iran trying to launch an attack on Israel. Iran is going to attempt and fail when they try to attack Israel. What Iran plans to do to Israel will happen to them. Israel's reaction to the attack? Damascus is predicted to be one of the cities Israel will obliterate. Four or five cities in Egypt, Jordan, Iraq will also "get it". There are more countries in cahoots with Iran than what people will admit. Israel has been in the back of the room for quite a while now jumping up and down with their hand in the air trying to tell the world about Iran and the Arab-Muslim conspiracy. Iran seems to keep getting a pass. This theory continued but I am sure you get my drift and I don't want to think about it too much. Russia is not helping. Israel and Iran are screwed by powerful minorities. The average Iranian is awesome. If they were in charge, we'd see a lot more moderate Islam.
Same with Jews. It's only the extreme Orthodox Jews who are messing things up. The average Israeli Jew is cool and is disturbed at the plight of Palestinians. Like the US, though...you have to pander to the extreme right. And that's how Israel is.
The samson option has nothing to do with Iran. It states that if israel goes down - so does the rest of the world. Well, I can assure you that countries like America and the UK have a contingency plan in place to counter such a deranged desperate act by a bunch of hate filled jews that want to destroy the world.
Iran is Shiite while Arab countries are primarily Sunni, there isn't going to be some kind of conspiracy between them. Why would Saudi Arabia turn a blind eye for Israelis to use their air space?
I tried to find #2, but it kept skipping it, so I'll just guess it went something like this:
#2 Israel, with the lack of any sort of concession in their unilateral bully behaviour of the region will have to deal with someone as equals and will no longer be able to dictate terms with an unfair advantage. With a more level playing field, people who have been under Israel's foot will escape and demand equal treatment and fairness.
There are 7 million people in Israel. There are 364 million people in the Middle East. Most of the oil wealth on the planet comes from the Arab countries that surround Israel, while Israel itself (at 8,019 square miles, about 1/7 the size of Michigan) doesn't have much in the way of natural resources outside of agriculture. Yeah, the Jews hold all the cards. Whatever. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
It needs to be said once and for all that liberals really are masochists. Truly and utterly. They want to be reamed. They want to be sucked dry. They want to be raped. And they want to be defeated and humiliated. It goes back a long, long time. It's all in the subconscious baby. And when they see Israel fighting for its rights, it kills them - but not in a good way - in the worst way possible, because secretly they're so jealous and unworthy of Israel that anything she does is like a stab in the heart to them.
I think liberals are right on many issues, but on others they are too idealistic. They tend to think that a loser or a person suffering is necessarily a good person. Even though it can be an insane person. Liberals tend to believe victims are pure.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
The real #2 (when you reach #3, click once on the left arrow, which leads you back to #1, then click on the left arrow once more which leads you through a secret door to #2):
2. Fear that Iran is 'meshugana'
If the public statements of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a number of Israeli officials are taken at face value, they believe irrational behavior on the part of Iranian officials could lead them to use a nuclear weapon if they ever obtain it.
Iran says it has no intention of building a bomb, and senior clerics there have said the use of nuclear weapons are un-Islamic and forbidden, but many Israeli leaders don't buy that.
Mr. Netanyahu told Atlantic writer Jeffrey Goldberg for a separate article last year: "You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs... When the wide-eyed believer gets hold of the reins of power and the weapons of mass death, then the world should start worrying, and that’s what is happening in Iran."
While that seems an extreme characterization, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad never seems to pass up a chance to fuel Israeli fears. Mr. Ahmadinejad has called the Holocaust "a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim" and once referred to Israel as a "tumor" that should be "wiped off the map" – though some say that's a mistranslation, and a better one would be "vanish from the map of time."
Wayne White, a former senior State Department intelligence analyst focusing on the Middle East, says that the Iranian government isn't monolithic in its views and that "regime survival" is a top priority for most senior figures, including Ayatollah Ali Khamanei. But he says the antics of Ahmadinejad are a constant irritant that increase the likelihood of conflict. "He’s absolutely the worst nightmare for anyone trying to move this forward," he says. "His rhetoric has been outrageous since 2005."
To be sure, some Israeli officials don't precisely share Prime Minister Netanyahu's view. In a speech last year, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said his fear was that a nuclear armed Iran would some day arm a stateless terrorist group. As for the regime itself? "I don’t think that the Iranians, even if they got the bomb, they are going to drop it immediately on some neighbor. They fully understand what might follow. They are radicals but not total meshuganas," he said, using a Yiddish word that means "crazies."
It is clear that the men in power in Iran are the worst possible persons in Iran. Why would any sane honest person support Ahmadinejad and the other insane men around him?
I, regretfully, must admit that I feel some sort of major confrontation coming real soon between these two countries. It won't be good for anybody, and America will obviously get involved. I think that this will happen before 2012. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Brother, if there was no religion, they would just as easily find a different excuse.
There was no religion in the former USSR but that didnt stop them from attacking many of the central-asian countries that they once controlled.
The enemy is the power hungry elitists/corporations/governments regardless of their race and religious leanings who do all this s**t off the backs and tax dollars of the little people.
We dont own weapons contracts....We dont get to control the oil fields...None of us here have Iraqi rebuilding contracts. But we sure as hell have to pay for all that s**t!
Nah, religion just gives people further justification. You didn't see things like Stalin Russia or Hoxha's Albania suddenly create nations of peace-loving pacifists. People are simply messed up not matter what belief systems they do or don't subscribe to.
As much as I hate to support religion, TritonX is right. It'd just be nationalism, or racism, or something else. Anything people who want to control others can use to actually control others will be used.

@evilkrustydoll
I would 100% agree with you except for a few problems.
1) Iran isn't a direct neighbor of Israel and it is doubtful Syria, Jordan and Iraq would let Israeli jets fly through
2) From Jerusalem to Bushehr, Iran (home of the reactor) is a distance of 951 miles.
As far as I know Israel's best planes would only be able to make a one way trip assuming little external ordnance. I guess it could be a one-way mission but that seems unlikely as it would be a huge s**t storm if the pilots were captured.
There is always a missile strike but too much could go wrong and Israel much prefers the precision from a jet/helicopter attack.
What exactly do you mean by "Hezbollah kicked the crap out of Israel twice"?
If youre counting by rocks thrown and suicide bombed buses, then yes, they win. But I think the near carpet bombing of southern Lebanon and Beirut qualify Israel as the victor by pretty much every other measurement.
I think what you mean to say: The IDF are tough when it comes to shooting children THROWING rocks - from the safety of a helicopter gunship or carpet bombing from the skies in the safety of an F-16, yet when it comes to man on man ground warfare, jews are cowards.
Personally, I detest SEMITES be they jew or arab - If you semites want to go to war, HAVE AT IT!! Kill each-other out, good riddance --but don't involve Americans in your semitic wars.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
The point of war is to be as UNFAIR as possible. Armed conflict isn't fought using Marquis of Queensbury rules, no matter how much you wish for it. If Israel has some kind of military advantage, they can't be blamed for using it if provoked to fight. Ditto suicide bombings, human wave attacks, attacks on civilians and scorched-earth tactics by Muslims.
It's one thing to use a military advantage, it's another to intentionally attack civilian targets and hide amongst civilians so they die for your actions. One is playing smart the other is just being a plain coward.
Israel won't attack Iran, Iran won't attack Israel, because it would be bad and useless for both countries. And as stupid as their leaders are, both sides understand this.
That's just hyperbole. Nobody is dumber/crazier than Bush. There are those who are dumber, there are those who are crazier, but nobody has both those qualities in quite the abundance Bush did.
No, really, you could be talking about either. Both Judaism and Islam include the whole "heaven" dealy - that great reward after death - so which are you talking about?
There is no hell in Judaism for the non-Jewish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell#Judaism
And anyway, here is what hell sounds like for Jews:
"According to Jewish teachings, hell is not entirely physical; rather, it can be compared to a very intense feeling of shame. People are ashamed of their misdeeds and this constitutes suffering which makes up for the bad deeds."
There is a hell for the non-Muslims: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jahannam
"Those who ignored, or only pretended to believe in Allah remain in Jahannam (hell) after Qiyamat (Judgment Day)."
What hell looks like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell#Islam
"Although generally Hell is often portrayed as a hot steaming and tormenting place for sinners, there is one Hell pit which is characterized differently from the other Hell in Islamic tradition. Zamhareer is seen as the coldest and the most freezing Hell of all; yet its coldness is not seen as a pleasure or a relief to the sinners who committed crimes against God. The state of the Hell of Zamhareer is a suffering of extreme coldness, of blizzards, ice, and snow which no one on this earth can bear."
Yeah, I think I agree with the Isreal defense guy referenced in the article. Iran wouldn't be stupid enough to directly attack Israel, but would likely within a generation get a dirty bomb into the hands of a terrorist group. But realistically any terrorist group that detonates a bomb in Isreal or the U.S. either country would retaliate against Iran.
If the public statements of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a number of Israeli officials are taken at face value, they believe irrational behavior on the part of Iranian officials could lead them to use a nuclear weapon if they ever obtain it.

Reason (1) - a nuclear Iran will attack Israel with nuclear weapons.
They've already said they were going to, even if "Iran Burned". Why do you not believe what the Iranian president himself said he will do? Would you be willing to take the chance he was lying? Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Thats retarded. The whole point of a nuclear weapon is to threaten others with it, not to actually use it. MAD still applies, even after the Cold War.
Iran just wants to have a near-guarantee that nobody will be able to attack or invade them. They also want to be the central powerhouse in the Middle East and building a nuke is the only way they see to getting that power.
north korea doesn't have a mandate from "god" to attack anyone, now do they. they don't believe they'll be rewarded for suicide like islamists do.
Just ask the japanese how hoping the bombs wouldn't be used worked out for them.
get your head out of the sand, its a real possibility. at the very least don't call for "restraint" and "understanding" if israel gets nuked, ok?
No, it's not the crazy part that bothers people. Kim Jong Il is one crazy ass dude, but he lives his life like some kind of emperor, driving around in Elvis suit in a gold golf cart. He knows if he starts a nuclear war, that all ends; so he's got a lot to lose.
What scares people about Iran isn't the crazy part, it's the willingness to sacrifice not only your own life, but the lives of everyone in your country for your cause. This was especially evident in the Iran-Iraq war, where the Iranians marched unarmed troops at Iraqi fortifications in human wave attacks where they were mowed down to the point where the Iraqis literally ran out of ammunition from killing them all. They even had children volunteers who'd rum out into minefields to set them off so the soldiers behind them could pass through unscathed. Now that is a special kind of f**ked up. That's what scares people. The thought that they'd start a nuclear war regardless of MAD and do so with glee because they're martyrs.
Well, if the Iranians want to make a bonfire of themselves out of pure hatred, then let them. They'll be judged as history's ultimate losers as a consequence.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Again, you guys are missing the point. Youre SUPPOSED to think hes crazy enough to use them. Thats the point!
And yes, North Koreans do have a mandate from god because Kim Jong Il and his father are considered to be decendents of god.
Various foreign secretaries have said that they dont actually believe Ahmedinejad is crazy. Hes just the George Bush and Dick Cheney of the middle east.
Plus, Iranians are not at all with their leadership, so punishing them for their crazy leader makes no sense.
And to answer the other comment about America using 2 bombs. Before then, nobody knew what an atomic bomb is. In order for your threat to carry weight, people need to know what it actually does when dropped. The bombing sites were specifically chosen because of their natural geography, which would limit the fallout and the damage done by the bombs. The united states burned every single city in Japan to the ground without the aid of nuclear weapons, the point of a nuclear weapon is that they are scary as s**t. You dont NEED a nuke to destroy a city.
Ahmedinejad and Khamenei (the supreme leader) see Israel as a cancer. http://archives.cnn.com/2000/WORLD/meast/12/15/mideast.iran.reut/
"Iran's stance has always been clear on this ugly phenomenon (Israel). We have repeatedly said that this cancerous tumor of a state should be removed from the region," Khamenei told thousands of Muslim worshippers in Tehran.
Ever heard of radiations to treat cancer? I am sure they did, unfortunately.
FTA.........Mr. Netanyahu told Atlantic writer Jeffrey Goldberg for a separate article last year: "You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs...
so why is it ok for the jews to have nukes? www.moshiach.com
jews don't detonate themselves in pizza parlors because a particular country doesn't share their beliefs. they aren't the most peaceful people but radical islam makes them look like martin luther king jr.
the difference is, when radical muslims kill innocent people, the US declares a war on terror and the whole world sees it as a problem, but when Israel does it, they don't see a problem. I am not pro-islamic extremism, but I think that an official state should have slightly higher expectations than a f**king terrorist organization. Israel has total disregard for anyone who isn't jewish and isn't lining their state's pockets with foreign aid. They displace innocent palestinians, but it doesn't matter to them at all because they see the palestinians as less than people. Terrorists from inside a country shoots rockets at them, so they shoot rockets at the innocent people in the country. Israel is a f**king child of a country, and we still send them money. I don't like my tax dollars going to a country that does these things. f**k, I don't want my tax dollars going to any first-world country.
other countries fire rockets into Israeli population centers, and Israel responds in kind. this is standard military procedure. I am not saying I like it that way, but this is how its been since ww2.
You want the Israelis to be perfect and you think the Palestinians are innocent people.
Well, there are a few reasons why the Israelis are there:
first reason: Muslim countries have violently expelled nearly one million Jews between 1947 and 1962: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_and_Muslim_lands
Second reason: the Jews were victims of apartheid in Muslim countries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi
So the Jews were forced by the Muslims to colonize some place.
By the way, Israel is 5 times smaller than all the land stolen from the Jews by those Muslim countries. The Jews still are the victims of a huge robbery.
And a lot of land in Israel was actually bought by the Jews.
The Jews own the equivalent of 0.2% of the Muslims lands, and the Muslims have gone to war against Israel three times for 0.2%! While the Jews owned 1% of the Muslim lands before 1947.
The Jews are the victims of a very old Muslim hatred for them.
The Muslim countries that expelled all those Jews could have offered the stolen properties to the Palestinians. Problem solved and the Palestinians would have been richer. But the way they want to solve the problem is by getting rid of all the Jews of Israel, proof is they started three wars to destroy Israel.
The Palestinians are not pure innocent people:
- for decades they supported Arafat, a terrorist born in Cairo (Egypt) so corrupt he was a billionaire as the end of his life.
- the Palestinians on the West Bank now support the heirs of Arafat
- the Palestinians in Gaza support the Hamas, a terrorist group funded and armed by the anti-semites in power in IranComment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Yeah, Israel is so much better, they just burn civilians to the bone with white phosphorus and run over children in armored bulldozers as they wipe the people off the land they're trying to steal. Way better than suicide bombers, yep.
Part of me wishes they would just do it already so we can stop hearing/worrying about it.
If Iran get's the bomb, I have little doubt that they would sell it to whoever wanted it. There is also a chance that Iranian backed Hezbollah will sneak a bomb in over the border and just set it off in Tel Aviv, no missile, no warning, just poof the city is gone. They convince people to blow themselves up with TNT etc. why wouldn't they use a nuke? I know they would, Israel knows they would, and that cannot be allowed. Israel has subs with nukes. If they are nuked, they're absolutely going to nuke Iran. Iran knows this and they aren't going to nuke Israel, no matter how insane their rhetoric is.
I know about the subs but I disagree.. I still think there is a chance they will do it. You are thinking rationally... religious zealots don't think rationally... They are led by a religious zealot... Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
trashyamerican is even crazier than the leader of the Hezbollah, Nasrallah who himself admitted on several occasions that attacking Israel had been a mistake.

FTA: "Israel, with an arsenal of 100 or so nuclear bombs and the missiles to deliver them, is the region's only current nuclear power."
I thought it was just rumours that Israel had developed nuclear weapons based on a large explosion or a small earthquake ( I forget which) in Israeli controlled land (an island in the Mediterranean or something? or maybe out in the desert).Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
There is no direct evidence of their nuclear weapons, but many analysts believe they have them. How they can put that figure at "100" is somewhat perplexing as we don't know for sure if they have any. There is a strong likelyhood they have nukes and "100" would probably by the upper range of weapons they have.
Looks like we may have a Nuclear Winter in our life time...Break out the polaroid cameras folks because after that big flash no digital electronics will work.
Interestingly, the dust blast from a nuclear attack in that region will cause so much dust that in about 2 years the entire globe will be covered in dust that we will experice 20% less sunlight for several years afterwards. Of course, the entire region will be uninhabitable and will likely cause defects in births spanning through some parts of Europe.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
The only and overwhelming reason for why Israel will do no such thing: doing so will galvanize the Iranian populace in favor of the current regime because everything the regime has and will have ever said about Israel disrupting Iran's ambitions would be validated by an attack.
Having a 72 million person country hellbent on their destruction isn't what Israel will want right now, especially since Iran has a low-8-figure army at their disposal. Should Iran be developing nukes (I have no doubt), Iran wouldn't be dumb enough to use them first. However, should Iran be attacked, Iran will gladly throw 10+mil land soldiers through Iraq, through Syria, and then across the Israeli border.
If Israel attacks Iran, I also doubt the US will support Israel against a land invasion either. No previous attack on Israel involved more than 10 million troops from any single country.
I think you have greatly overestimated Iran's ability to project it's army to Israel... Not to mention the Israeli and American airforce would be bombing the troops the entire journey of thousands of miles... Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
except the american airforce wouldnt be doing s**t because the last thing america wants is to get in the middle of a possible nuclear war in the middle east. i think the US should be the last nation on earth to mess with a bunch of muslims with nukes lolComment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Iran's population is deeply divided. How can you forget what happened in 2009 in Iran?!
And of course there are stupid diggers who want to believe you are right. Probably some stupid Muslims who hate Israel.
Isarel's attack will lead to an arms race in the entire region and even more attacks...I wouldn't want ot be Israel, nor the US...they are easily the prime spots for a nuclear strike by most countries...and in ways Israel and the US are the most evil...Iran definitely is in their too of course.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Sorry guys, there is a new sheriff in the region -- USA. Israel would not dare move a finger without explicit approval from Washington. As no such move is expected from our current administration, all the press on the right has geared up for Obama's defeat in 2012, and is eagerly anticipating a move on Iran from his successor. Articles are words.
The Muslim fundamentalists in power in Iran are for real. They are necrophiliac fascists who really want to get rid of Israel. They fund and arm two terrorist groups that already sent thousands of rockets over Israel. They have been fighting a war by proxy with Israel for years. This cannot go on forever, especially with the Iranian nuclear program progressing fast.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
"Israel is a country whose national psyche was crafted by the Holocaust and has said time and again that it will take preemptive action if it thinks the nation is threatened." - Basically, same reasoning for Iraq War by the US and UK. All you have to do is declare you think there is a threat to your country and you can start a war, however no one else is allowed to use this rule because that is unnecessary aggression! As crazy as the Iranian president is the Israeli one is as bad and itching for a reason to start a war!
@pintomp3
Egypt, Syran and Jordan were about to attack Israel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six-Day_War#The_combatant_armies
"On the eve of the war, Egypt massed approximately 100,000 of its 160,000 troops in the Sinai, including all of its seven divisions (four infantry, two armored and one mechanized), as well as four independent infantry and four independent armored brigades. No less than a third of them were veterans of Egypt's intervention into the Yemen Civil War and another third were reservists. These forces had 950 tanks, 1,100 APCs and more than 1,000 artillery pieces."
"Syria's army had a total strength of 75,000 and amassed them along the Syrian border.[124] Jordan's army had 55,000 troops,[125] including 300 tanks along the Jordanian border, 250 of which were US M48 Patton, sizable amounts of M113 APCs, a new battalion of mechanized infantry, and a paratrooper battalion trained in the new US-built school. They also had 12 battalions of artillery and six batteries of 81 mm and 120 mm mortars."
I dugg you up but let's be honest: The powers that be don't give a f**k what we think. Ever. Especially when it comes to the military industrial complex.
They act on their own, they do what they want. They don't give a s**t about anyone else. As long as their is blood and money to feed the machine, it will continue on.
The real war haws are in Iran. They have been at war for years!
The Muslim fundamentalists in power in Iran are necrophiliac fascists who want to get rid of Israel. They fund and arm two terrorist groups that already sent thousands of rockets over Israel. They have been fighting a war by proxy with Israel for years. This cannot go on forever, especially with the Iranian nuclear program progressing fast.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Israel pretty much controls America. If Israel wants a war (which they do), they will get America to do it for them (which they are). If you need proof, just pay attention to how the America-Israel Political Affairs Committee and the ADL drum up support for a US war with Iran.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Israel does persuade the US of a lot, but it is absurd that little Israel would "control" America. Just look at situations in which the US rejects Israel's demands. Israel and its allies always take no for an answer and go home with their tail between their legs.
From a Chomsky interview on Presstv;
"Last summer in 2008, right in the middle of the presidential election… Israeli lobbyists tried very hard to push through a resolution in congress calling for a blockade on Iran which essentially would have been an act of war. They were rounding up quite lot of senators… and all of a sudden the effort terminated, presumably what happened is the White House… wanted to have a word with them, so they pulled back, that happens over and over, Israel can not go beyond what the U.S. permits,"
Another very poorly informed comment. Israel has some of the best combatants on the planet. If they really wanted to, they could wipe Iran off the face of the planet. I highly doubt they would but saying they would just send the US is just ignorant.
f**k Israel and GET THE f**k OUT OF PALESTINE! I'M AN AMERICAN AND I SUPPORT PEACE AND IT CAN'T EXIST AS LONG AS WE SUPPORT THE STUPID s**t ISRAEL DOES.
I believe you should calm down and start supporting Israel for the following reasons.
/
you are hypnotized
/subliminal power of the Torah
CSM actually does some decent reporting. Sometimes the media can surprise you. Its a similar story with the WSJ. One of the most pro-business, right-wing but respectable papers in the US also does some of the greatest muckraking stories on capitalist greed and corporate corruption.
Iran is well aware that Israel has one of the world's largest stockpiles of nuclear weapons.
I just don't buy that Iran would attack Israel with the 1 or 2 nukes it's supposedly developing. The consequences for Iran would be devastating. Even potential terrorists know that.
I have a feeling Israel is actually interested in attacking Iran for economic reasons.
Israel did attack Iraq's nuclear weapons development facility, the Osirak Reactor back in 1981. The context has changed since then, but Israel has also gotten much more extremist.
It is funny to read rational diggers totally unable to understand that there are people in power in some countries who are not rational.
Guys, you should study the history of the previous century seriously.

Israel also has a nuclear base on the Moon, Mars, and Pluto. So i've heard.
They everywhere. And nobody says anything.
They also in contact with Alien race, plotting the destruction of the world.
Just for the record, the number of nuclear weapons test, performed by United States: 1054.
The largest number in the world. Second to it, is Soviet Union with 715 tests.
How many weapons do United States have now? I don't think anyone can match USA in the nuclear weapons.
You all realize there's another article with three reasons Israel won't attack Iran, right? Of course this one is the one on the front page.
Anyway, any country that denies the Holocaust, says they will wipe you off the map and is developing nuclear capabilities kind of deserves to be attacked. The anti-Israel sentiments regarding this are frankly shocking.
huh ? surrounded by countries that start wars every few years? when has any country there started a war without the US pushing, funding and weaponizing them ?
Which ones are those? I don't know of one country that has invaded Israel for the last 4 decades. Besides that Israel slaughters tens of thousands of innocents. They murdered 9 on the freedom flotilla, about 1400 in Operation Cast Lead, and killed about 20,000 when they bombed Lebanon in the 80's. Look at the death tolls between Israel and all the groups it attacks, the ratio is often 1 Israeli killed to 1000 others killed.
he said to "wipe the zionism from the pages of time"

Look, we all know jews are tough when in comes to shooting unarmed people in a flotilla, and children throwing rocks, yeah they've proved that over and over again. There's no reason to call the IDF "jew's." There are many non-religious or Christian Israelis (one of these Christian Israeli's is my friend) and many non-ethnic-Jew Israelis.
One of them is a friend of mine too. I hate stereotyping. This friend of mine works in Israel with Jewish people and Pakistanis advocating for peace and a two state system. Not every "Jew" attacked the flotilla. What is Loki11's point?
Yes, let's not use the term "jew" when discussing the "jewish" state's aggressive behavior. Such a negative connotation. My goodness, we can't have that. Can we get the word "jew" scrubbed from this thread? I mean really. What in the world do "jews" have to do with the IDF? There's absolutely no connection between the two. Clearly terrorist propaganda.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

You speak as if the Jews had not suffered for 2000 years away from Israel. Your infinite optimism is an absolute denial of reality. you would think israel of all places would understand that collective punishment is wrong. Palestinians are being collectively punished by israel for the actions of a few. israel deciding to fight everyone is kind of a self fulfilling problem that everyone would be angry now isn't it.
Collective punishment my ass!
They elected terrorists (Hamas) funded and armed by Iran who have written in their Constitution that their goal is the destruction of Israel.
They f**king punish themselves!
And they raise their children to become terrorists and martyrs (Jews in ghettos taught their children to become doctors):
Gaza summer camps teach kids to fire rockets: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3575660,00.html
"Birds of Paradise" represents a new wave in Jihadist youth indoctrination. It is far more professional, better edited, and presented in a much more kid-friendly style than previous Jihadist children's programming. The themes are easily digestible even for toddlers. Child actors portray Israeli soldiers, all wearing yarmulkes, who ruthlessly gun down other children shown playing and dancing. Minutes later, the kids exact revenge and kill the soldiers.
"When We Seek Martyrdom" encourages children not simply to throw rocks, but to carry out militant attacks and to ambush Jews. It even broadcasts clips of the children carrying out practice attacks. Violence is not only the answer for children, but it is framed in a cute, kid-friendly way.
[...]
"Children in the 'martyrdom culture' become robotic and clone-like, so much so that they are compelled not to express genuine emotions or any sense of vulnerability," she said. If they do so, they are shamed and punished. On the other hand, if they conform to the cultural standards set for them, they believe that they are good and that they will be loved." This system of violence becomes self-reinforcing and it is more difficult to break the hate which is connected to the children's earliest childhood memories.
This is not an isolated video from the Birds of Paradise group, but rather part of a consistent pattern of encouraging violence. In another video, Muhammad Bashaar, the adult encouraging children in the "When We Seek Martyrdom" video, gives his own tribute to "resistance" in Gaza. His video features adults carrying out terror attacks on Israelis and a teenager throwing a Molotov c**ktail into an Israeli military position, setting it on fire. He prays for success from Allah and chants, "Victorious, as promised by Allah, we will have, we will have victory!"
It's more frightening that they're paranoid. Nukes don't matter if your a paranoid country, because when it comes to destruction there is nothing like the human touch.
Which is why a nuclear Iran is not such a bad thing. Although both d**k h**ds would have a gun to each others head, its better than Israel doing whatever it wants. Everyone loves a little mutually assured destruction.
Israel has not used its nukes. Decades without even threatening anyone with them. It is proof that Israel is a rational country, and that you are irrational.

sanmanAug 16, 2010
well, unless the Iranians plan to rush the Iraq border in human waves again, I don't see how they could inflict a lot of bloodshed
lioozherAug 16, 2010
I don't imagine that it would be a new war, but that Iran may already have forward stockpiles of weapons in Afghanistan and Iraq (it shares long borders with both). Iran manufactures much of it's own weaponry and this includes portable anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles. If such weapons were made available to groups in Afghanistan, Coalition logistics could become even more of a nightmare than they already are.

You are talking about Khatami. Interesting what happened after he sat near the Israeli president:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Khatami#Foreign_policy
"after he returned to Iran, Khatami was subject to harsh criticism from conservatives for having 'recognised' Israel by speaking to its president. Subsequently, the country's state-run media reported that Khatami strongly denied shaking hands and chatting with Katsav."
But already one year earlier:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Khatami#Khatami_and_Iran.27s_2004_parliamentary_election
Khatami and Iran's 2004 parliamentary election
In February 2004 Parliament elections, the Guardian Council banned thousands [21] of candidates, including most of the reformist members of the parliament and all the candidates of the Islamic Iran Participation Front party from running. This led to a win by the conservatives of at least 70% of the seats. Approximately 60% of the eligible voting population participated in the elections.

Prayer without action is worthless. Prayer, asking God to give you the guidance, strength and grace to do what you are going to do...that is prayer. Asking for a blessing for what you are already going to do is where prayer is useful.
lolcoelacanthAug 16, 2010
It is equally worthless with action. It has absolutely no effect outside of making you feel better a out yourself or the situation.
smacksawAug 16, 2010
@lolcoelancanth

There is always a missile strike but too much could go wrong and Israel much prefers the precision from a jet/helicopter attack.

isifunded911Aug 16, 2010
There is no hell in Judaism for the non-Jewish:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell#Judaism
And anyway, here is what hell sounds like for Jews:
"According to Jewish teachings, hell is not entirely physical; rather, it can be compared to a very intense feeling of shame. People are ashamed of their misdeeds and this constitutes suffering which makes up for the bad deeds."
There is a hell for the non-Muslims:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jahannam
"Those who ignored, or only pretended to believe in Allah remain in Jahannam (hell) after Qiyamat (Judgment Day)."
What hell looks like:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell#Islam
"Although generally Hell is often portrayed as a hot steaming and tormenting place for sinners, there is one Hell pit which is characterized differently from the other Hell in Islamic tradition. Zamhareer is seen as the coldest and the most freezing Hell of all; yet its coldness is not seen as a pleasure or a relief to the sinners who committed crimes against God. The state of the Hell of Zamhareer is a suffering of extreme coldness, of blizzards, ice, and snow which no one on this earth can bear."
Clearly Islam is necrophiliac/sadistic.

You dont NEED a nuke to destroy a city.

the difference is, when radical muslims kill innocent people, the US declares a war on terror and the whole world sees it as a problem, but when Israel does it, they don't see a problem. I don't like my tax dollars going to a country that does these things. f**k, I don't want my tax dollars going to any first-world country.

isifunded911Aug 16, 2010
@sClubDevin
You want the Israelis to be perfect and you think the Palestinians are innocent people.
Well, there are a few reasons why the Israelis are there:
first reason: Muslim countries have violently expelled nearly one million Jews between 1947 and 1962:
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_and_Muslim_lands
Second reason: the Jews were victims of apartheid in Muslim countries:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi

There is no direct evidence of their nuclear weapons, but many analysts believe they have them. How they can put that figure at "100" is somewhat perplexing as we don't know for sure if they have any. There is a strong likelyhood they have nukes and "100" would probably by the upper range of weapons they have.

Interestingly, the dust blast from a nuclear attack in that region will cause so much dust that in about 2 years the entire globe will be covered in dust that we will experice 20% less sunlight for several years afterwards.

Israel does persuade the US of a lot, but it is absurd that little Israel would "control" America. Just look at situations in which the US rejects Israel's demands. Israel and its allies always take no for an answer and go home with their tail between their legs.
From a Chomsky interview on Presstv;
"Last summer in 2008, right in the middle of the presidential election… Israeli lobbyists tried very hard to push through a resolution in congress calling for a blockade on Iran which essentially would have been an act of war. They were rounding up quite lot of senators… and all of a sudden the effort terminated, presumably what happened is the White House… wanted to have a word with them, so they pulled back, that happens over and over, Israel can not go beyond what the U.S. permits,"

I believe you should calm down and start supporting Israel for the following reasons.
/
you are hypnotized
/subliminal power of the Torah
First reason: Muslim countries have violently expelled nearly one million Jews between 1947 and 1962:
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_and_Muslim_lands
Second reason: the Jews were victims of apartheid in Muslim countries:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi

Iran is well aware that Israel has one of the world's largest stockpiles of nuclear weapons.

I have a feeling Israel is actually interested in attacking Iran for economic reasons.

They elected terrorists (Hamas) funded and armed by Iran who have written in their Constitution that their goal is the destruction of Israel.

And they raise their children to become terrorists and martyrs (Jews in ghettos taught their children to become doctors):
Gaza summer camps teach kids to fire rockets:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3575660,00.html
https://www.investigativeproject.org/1072/birds-of-paradise-martyrdom-recruitment-as
"Birds of Paradise" represents a new wave in Jihadist youth indoctrination.

There are Muslims in Israeli parliament, Muslims among highest ranking officers of the IDF, Muslim parties, Muslim newspapers, and Arabic is one of two state languages, but would it possibly sway the mind-lock of the original poster?

Gaza is not part of Israel, and hasn't been for over 5 years. It is an independant state.
Why should there be Gazans in any part of Israel's government?
Reality is that Israel is not apartheid. Not that realirty has anything to do with jjason1985's world view.
