popeater.com — Tracy Morgan said: "if his son that was gay he better come home and talk to him like a man and not [he mimicked a gay, high pitched voice] or he would pull out a knife and stab that little N (one word I refuse to use) to death."

Why does anyone care what a standup comedian said?
ofnumbersJun 12, 2011
We have some serious s**t to ignore, sir.
elimgarakJun 12, 2011
Because he is a public figure - him saying this without any opposition legitimizes that opinion. And increases the danger to gay people. They have to deal with enough s**t already.
All that is needed for the forces of evil to succeed is for enough good men to remain silent. That's paraphrasing, but this is what it comes down to.

If you can't make fun of everybody, you can't make fun of anybody, no matter what the context might be.
datoedakariJun 11, 2011
Although, he wasn't really making fun of them, he was speaking to these people about how he feels. Unpopular as it may have been, that's what freedom of speech is about, for both Morgan and Rogers. I wonder how Tracy would have handled it if the roles were reversed and Rogers was 'making fun' of Tracy?

Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should. Especially when you're supposed to be entertaining the audience, not horrifying them.
datoedakariJun 11, 2011
I didn't say he should have, (I very much disagree with his opinion, but that's no matter) I'm just saying he has the right to, as do you, in saying he shouldn't say it.
elimgarakJun 12, 2011
Obviously he has the right - nobody is saying he doesn't. We are saying that he is a dick because of what he said, and that he should lose business and money. We are saying that this sort of behavior should not be condoned.

Where are those damn thought police when you need them? Come on people, he's a comedian not a Rhodes Scholar!
garryfieldsJun 12, 2011
Having things that are not socially acceptable to say in public != thought police.
Such dumb logic.
bobosmitorJun 11, 2011
It is important to laugh at ourselves, but he went to far with the stabbing comment.
kesk2006Jun 11, 2011
Im okay with name calling, its just words, but dude went too far with the stabbing s**t.
thepeterjohnsonJun 12, 2011
...Did that article really just reference a site called "UnicornBooty.com?"
That's gotta be in the top 10 greatest domain names EVER CREATED.
redstringJun 11, 2011
Is that suppose to be funny?
lovematch123Jun 12, 2011
There's nothing wrong with being gay.
seduiraiJun 12, 2011
freedom of speech means the government can't shut him up. WE as his fans and paying public can... "shut him down". It's now our turn to speak up and say the right thing. I used to love Tracy Morgan, and I loved that he went far and crass, but for ME, this was way too far. He crossed my line and is no longer welcome in my life until he does some healing with his public and fans. His job as a comedian is to entertain and make me laugh at who I am, not make me feel uncomfortable about who I am.
grymusJun 11, 2011
And of course ... Like a punk he backed down.

Seinfeld Kramer's generated a lot of criticism for his racist tirade. I wonder how blacks feel about that. http://www.tmz.com/2006/11/20/kramers-racist-tirade-caught-on-tape/

I do not find bullying insignificant! People should just live thier life respecting others. Everyone has faults so get on with life, accept freinds and live in peace.

I've always found him irritating as all hell. Just something about him that makes my brain itch.
