docholiday22Aug 28, 2010
My front page right now is FULL of BBC, Engadget and 5 Mashable.com articles. I'm no longer getting articles from independent sources' these guys are monopolising the front page. f**k you Digg.
f**k you Mashable and f**k you Digg.
mistrbrownstoneAug 28, 2010
Yeah, if I wanted to read every Mashable story, I'd go to Mashable.
mabsarkAug 28, 2010
Everyone should boycott Digg on Monday.

So basically 95% of articles we see from now on will be submitted by the website the article is from?
keep up the fight fellow diggers
docholiday22Aug 28, 2010
Yes.
The front page is flooded with larger auto-submitting corporations that are monopolising the front page. Independent sites and news sources are non-existent.
The front page right now is full with BBC, Mashable.com, Telegraph and Engadget.com
f**k you Digg!

What you mean is, websites can now submit their own content rather than using power users as proxies.

Digg is just being forward thinking here. Once net neutrality is invalidated, there will only be ten sites to choose from based on your payment plan, according to this take on it.

They're just preparing us for it. So I think we should all get together an apologize to the new Digg developers for the caterwauling we've been doing for the past few days.
Just kidding. New Digg is a bag of s**t.

I am so close to leaving this place.
We really need to show that that we hate Digg V4. Random comments of hater aren't going to do it. I'm thinking of a "Bury Day", in honor of their removal of the Bury button. Basically, we pick a day in September (September 1st?), and on that day, we Digg NOTHING. Don't submit anything, don't comment, don't Digg anything. If you agree, spread this to every thread you can.
It will probably be one of the most productive days any of us have had in a long time.
-Black6x, out.

Change your avatar to the old Digg icon in protest.
bdbrAug 28, 2010
There would still be a lot of people digging the stories anyway. You can't control user behavior on the internet, especially with all the clueless newbs that just joined. Let's face is, there's already no reason to digg stories that are basically just newsfeeds of a few sites anyway.
adamh9999Aug 29, 2010
....SO close...just cant bring myself to do it just yet. Old Digg was to big of a part of my daily browsing.
I will admit reddit is looking better and better by the day.
jadrianAug 29, 2010
The worst thing about digg right now are all of you hysterical bitches constantly complaining. Either use it, or don't.

Seems as though ABP already took care of it... does it update its filters automatically??
thedudediggsAug 28, 2010
I never thought i'd do this but I joined Reddit. I have made fun of Reddit for years because it's so ugly but at least they still have a community and control over their content. Kevin Rose sold out and made Diggs community useless and our opinion mean nothing. It's like I went to a bar with a hot chick (Digg) who I really liked but then she went home with the rich guy so I had to go home with the ugly girl (Reddit) with a decent personality. f**k you Kevin Rose! You stuck me with the ugly Girl!!
crapAug 28, 2010
Hey guys, Kevin Rose here. I just wanted to let you all know that I changed my username to something more appropriate.
lokithecomplexAug 28, 2010
So thats it then Digg is over.
It will be interesting reading the autopsy on Wired.
robinewAug 28, 2010
Bluto: Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is!
noreaAug 28, 2010
man... im not a hardcore user of digg.. just love to browse casually... and i have to say i dislike the new digg.... no auto pop ups is one thing. and i dislike this following thing. following somebody. kevin would u follow me? rofl
iph0neAug 28, 2010
That's the only thing i really dislike, the way they have taken aspects of other social sites and just bolted them on without thinking about how they will be used or how they will benefit users to create some kind of grotesque chimera.
"twitter let's you follow people, let's do that!"
"how will that benefit users?"
"didn't you hear me? Twitter does it!"

At first I was pissed that people would diss the new Digg before they got a chance to learn how to use it and all the new "features" but after being on here for the past two days I truly see what everyone is bitching about. I loved the Digg Dialogues. I didn't really didn't mind too much the placed advertising inserted to look like submitted articles. I grudgingly tolerated the fact that I cannot keep specific douchebags from following me around the site and burying every post I make because I have some outspoken ways about me.
This I cannot take anymore. I am still not going to Reddit because I don't care if it was the last website in the world, I can't stand the retarded setup. Is there any other sites similar to the old Digg where I can migrate to?
I am going to spam this message until they delete my account. After 1200+ posts I can't believe I am asking people to please report this message as spam.
Goodbye folks. It's been a blast while it lasted.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Honestly, I was on the fence for a while being a long time supporter of Digg....but how can crap like this make the front page! Horrible horrible horrible. Reddit is my new friend...there's a greasemonkey script out there that even makes it look like (old) Digg
samurimasterAug 28, 2010
So everything that makes it to the front page should be perfect ?
althiusAug 28, 2010
This submission sucks. It deserves no attention. I need some sort of mechanism to help others not waste their time on it like I did. If only there was some way.
Maybe a play on words off of "Digg"?
iph0neAug 28, 2010
Anyone who dug this has forfeited their right to whine about the new digg.
drjgAug 29, 2010
Change that to anyone who dugg knowingly - the picture in thumb is small and one takes it as a normal funny story until one sees the real picture, and then where is the bury option? Criticising and irritation is valid.
rain12913Aug 28, 2010
Wow, is this for real? I mean honestly, I think that a certain portion of the anti-new digg sentiment is just going with the crowd and people who are resistant to change, but s**t like this is really horrible. Something of this poor quality (and clear unpopularity) would never make the front page on the old Digg. I'd really like to see Kevin Rose or anyone at Digg try to argue that it's a good thing that it's making the front page now. I'd love to see what they come up with.
drjgAug 29, 2010
But new digg is working badly even without this story - buttons don't work, profiles get changed, horrible stuff.
xtremesisu13Aug 28, 2010
ok... there is no way in hell someone has dugg this up. this is pure s**t. I have lost hope in Digg.

Why don't we just go to Reddit? That's where half of the articles came from on the "old DIGG" anyway.
They'll welcome us with open arms because they see our plight! :)
