The first thing I thought of when I heard about this is a book I read about the Salem witch trials. The girls believed so much that they were being posessed or cursed by witches, that during the trials, they would become pale or flush and their skin would turn ice cold when the accused entered the room. Some people thought that the girls could force themselves to do that, in order to accuse people that they didn't like of witchcraft.
