n1ebAug 6, 2010
HAY-O!
ceruAug 7, 2010
No. =(
maximilenAug 6, 2010
Apparently there's lots of Number Two in the Yangtze River making rich people crazy.
eadwyn1Aug 6, 2010
Isn't that the dog that Dresden has?
diggbotnessAug 6, 2010
Good to know I'm not the only one who thought of this.
cleetus76Aug 7, 2010
Well his is a russian Caucasian...not sure if that's the same. Dresden Files kick ass :)
retralAug 7, 2010
I don't recall Dresden having a dog in the Dresden Files.
Am I crazy?
bicolanoAug 7, 2010
Mouse was my first thought, too.
paskettiosAug 6, 2010
If you want a status symbol, get a gold Lamborghini, not a $600k dog to keep in a cage. There are plenty of friends going for free at the pound, especially in China where they roam the streets starving.
caramba421Aug 6, 2010
Wow! Given that China is an completely egalitarian socialist regime, that must mean that EVERYONE there has $600,000 to spend on a dog. What a place! I'm moving tomorrow.

Oh snap, we're no better

Yes, but we are a capitalistic society. Our goal as members of society is to amass as much as possible. China is supposed to be communist and everyone is supposed to have equal wealth. In reality China is now a capitalistic society and communism is just a name. Capitalism beats communism even without war.

Same situation in China. Billions of $ are pouring in and making a bunch of people rich, who then in turn spend their new wealth on stuff that isn't intrinsically worth what they're paying for.
jack416Aug 7, 2010
Are you saying trickle down economics doesn't work?!?!?!
*GASP*
kubienAug 6, 2010
Is that, 100k USD, or Chinese yuan? Big difference, considering all this article is talking about is specifically in china. They even mentioned that in the US the same breed is only a few hundred.
seanovanAug 7, 2010
The dollar sign may be a clue. $.

Aren't you happy you bought it made in China?

It's like the country is being run by rappers, boxers and lotto winners.
rocroAug 7, 2010
Just like in Russia, the post-communist new rich in China are so gaudy. Every Chinese woman who can afford to owns Luis Vuitton bags.
smithg86Aug 6, 2010
palms?
blackjackjesterAug 6, 2010
what a f**king sick waste of money. for that amount, you could save probably 50,000 shelter animals from being killed. All for an uglyass dog.
rdldr1Aug 6, 2010
If you have buyers remorse, you could just eat it.
alienmushroomAug 7, 2010
Well, we are talking about people who leave 50,000 animals to the shelters.
charlietunaAug 7, 2010
But then you couldn't show off your largess as blatantly.
djenna8Aug 7, 2010
20 Mercedes? Really, for one f**king (expensive) dog? I'm sure the neighbours were impressed by such douchebaggery
imwithjesusAug 7, 2010
their neighbors are probably rich too
raiseyourfistAug 7, 2010
The part that they left out of the story is:
After the dog got home with it's 20 Mercedes escort, it promptly went over to the cat box, at a pile of s**t, puked on the rug, and then a few minutes later urinated on the couch.
The puke is on ebay with a top bid of $30,000, and the couch is going for $50,000.
wondertwinsAug 7, 2010
Hmmm, a small home or a fat ass looking dog....
drtriffidAug 7, 2010
And I would value my parents' Tibetan spaniel at $2.84.
diggmydongAug 7, 2010
"Last November, a couple... organized a fleet of twenty Mercedes-Benzes to bring the dog home."
Did anyone else check to see if this was from the Onion?
y0tsuyaAug 7, 2010
I would say about 10 RMB / kilo?
uncoverorAug 7, 2010
Most dogs in China go for about $2.99 a pound.
IraDeorum2012Aug 7, 2010
that is gross lack of judgement on behalf of the cops!
I so sick of hearing this type of story; people nowadays just don't want to listen to common sense is truly a shame. We could avoid such huge pointless recriminations that help no one.
theaeneidAug 7, 2010
Mmm... mm. That's sure gonna be gooooood eatin'!
theaeneidAug 7, 2010
Nouveau riche. Heck, let them blow their money on stupid sh!t like this. Pretty soon all the jobs in the China will be outsourced and then we'll see.
headhotAug 7, 2010
That could feed a lot of Chinese. Seriously, weren't the Chinese raising st bernards for eating? I think that got the swiss all bent out of shape, who then threatened to start eating pandas. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
compulsive1Aug 7, 2010
A friend of mine has one of these dogs. His name is Tucker and he is a cool dog. But, nothing out of the ordinary, just another large friendly breed.
alohaitsajAug 7, 2010
People have that kind of money to spend on a dog? Geeze.
bigbrownpimpstaAug 7, 2010
that's an expensive Chinese dinner
ubermannAug 7, 2010
We have a Tibetan Spaniel - WAYYY cheaper and more fun!
wabblesAug 7, 2010
600k? Does it s**t gold and diamonds?
cleetus76Aug 7, 2010
We're talking the books - I really wish the tv series took off but it really didn't (and couldn't) do the books justice. Although I now picture Harry as Paul Blackthorne while reading. Retral - read the books - Jim Butcher is a fantastic author.
matt247Aug 7, 2010
Those dogs cost up to $3,500 in the US, just buy a bunch and export them to China.
slicky803Aug 7, 2010
Hhaha! It's funny because all Asians eat dogs. Am I right? Lulz!
Fools.
wr332Aug 7, 2010
Yangtze River Number Two is about 4 MILLION yuan.. like they said 600,000 USD for that s**t ugly dog.
menosdabearAug 7, 2010

abkangsterAug 9, 2010
