Saying that a service won't be hacked usually precedes the hacking of it by a few weeks. Just sayin'
legionfallsJun 8, 2011
They all sucked.. there really wasn't a winner.
If there had to be, it'd be Sony with Vita's wifi-only price.
rblancarteJun 8, 2011
Maybe there wasn't a winner. But it is possible to drop the ball or just not wow as well to be the loser.

Sony, sucked, Nintendo was just pointless & Microsoft basically repeated itself from last year. If I'd have to pick a winner, I would pick SEGA.
...Oh, right.

This is backwards. Fact: they all spoke about games you WILL be able to buy. Nintendo's new Wii system? It's a Wii upgrade, whooptie doo.
Out of all the games that are coming out, Microsoft definitely had the best. Sony should be the poke in the eye if you ask me.
raidy11moonJun 9, 2011
just because microsoft announced Halo doesn't mean they are the best. They sounded like Nintendo 2 yrs ago motion this motion that, and really Disneyland REALLY!?
extremephobiaJun 9, 2011
Between you and me, I'm looking forward to the Fall Update for the 360. I don't get TV because it's not worth it so the idea of being able to watch TV on my XBox and SOME of the implementations of the Kinect (I appreciate the voice commands for Mass Effect 3 for instance but the Disney thing was lame) seem interesting. Granted I don't plan on paying for TV on my 360 if it comes to that.
Gears 3 is coming out and while I like the story of Gears, I never got into the multiplayer. Played the Gears 3 Beta though and I would buy the game just for the multiplayer. Two Halos, not to mention ME3 (yes Sony has it but oddly my choices from ME1 on the 360 don't carry over to ME2 on PS3). It's not it's strongest line-up but the only thing I'm really particularly interested in on PS3 (that's exclusive) is Uncharted 3, Resistance 3 and then after that is the ICO/Shadows Collection.
I like the idea of the Wii U but until I ACTUALLY see comparable quality in 3rd party games, I'm not sold. My Wii is now just a glorified weight tracker. I don't even use the Wii Fit, I go to the gym and just use it to weigh myself. Ok... I'm probably going to get it to play the 1st Party games but then it's just going to collect dust again.
izzmoJun 9, 2011
"Disneyland REALLY!?"
Considering that no other console company can actually make a game to do this, then I would say that's a pretty big thing. The closest you could get to this experience behind Kinect is Wii/Go and that would be a horrible experience, instead of just naturally using your body.
Also, I didn't mention Halo at all, so you ASSumed I meant that, but Halo didn't actually look that good, I was just talking about all the updates to the 360 in general, not really the games all that much.
curtfehrJun 9, 2011
what do you mean wii "upgrade"? aren't all new systems upgrades from their predecessor? the xbox 360 was an xbox "upgrade"
bawwomickJun 9, 2011
I think he meant more along the lines of Wii accessory.
extremephobiaJun 9, 2011
I think what he meant was that the Wii's hardware MAY have finally caught up with MS and Sony. In other words, it's not the Next Generation, it's just this generation with a different controller.
izzmoJun 9, 2011
That's a fair statement, but in all honesty, Xbox to 360 was hardly an upgrade. It was pretty much a brand new system, just like the PS2 or PS3. The whole interface changed, the way you got into games, and how games were actually played changed as well. The 360, for better or worse, revolutionized that. But, as they said in the keynote, Wii U is the Wii with additional features.
dptbear3893Jun 9, 2011
SERIOUSLY???
the halo remake has MP on a separate disk and only running 7 maps on the reach engine. sounds like the worst thing they couldve done ever
adambunkerJun 9, 2011
Erm... seems to be some confusion. The Wii U isn't just a new controller, it's actually a new console with graphics that easily match or best the PS3/Xbox. Nintendo didn't mention much about it because I think both the design and processors will be subject to change.
I went and played it the day before the keynote. Here's what I thought:

Who the h3ll has time to play all the games that are out NOW... Good Grief, There are game out there for the past 5 years I haven't had the chance to play. Unless you don't have a life, or a job, or a family, or get zero sleep, and are anti social, then I guess you would have time to play them..
jrackowJun 8, 2011
I can't agree more. I play, but the amount of games is crazy.
anub1sJun 9, 2011
Um... I do. I work 48 hour weeks, have a yard and house to take care of, am married, and go out one night every week. I still find time to play my games for a few hours.
Maybe you need some better time management.
seergjejJun 9, 2011
and who says you have to play them all??
townidiotJun 9, 2011
Its not that hard. I have a full time job, planning my wedding with my fiance and I go out with friends atleast twice a week and I still get in a good 1 - 2 hours of gaming per day. The only toss up is when i get REALLY busy and I have to decide on gaming or cardio for the day... I like staying in shape so cardio usually wins.
zbeastJun 8, 2011
well Nintendo announced lots of extra hardware parts you can buy.
Yawn. Oh that that they will be getting of the same titles you've always have gotten from them. oh and you'll be able to play crappy low rez version of mature titles on the platform.
Sony, well they just talked about games you be able to play in the fall of 2012.
Microsoft did the same.. the games that you'll really want to play will be out
in 2012.
Oh an in 2011 you get another battle field and another call of duty.
yawn..Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
antialiasJun 8, 2011
Low rez versions? The Wii U supports 1080p(the zelda demo they showed was 1080p). Most 360 games are 720p. I don't know if they will keep up the 3rd party support, but if the list of developers they showed makes their top games for it, then the new Wii should have all the same multi platform games as the ps3 and 360.
zbeastJun 8, 2011
Don't confuse video rez with pixel rez. you can output 8 bit pixal rez to a 1080p screen.. this does not make the game High rez.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_resolution
antialiasJun 8, 2011
Most of the mature games will be ported from PC or other consoles and are 3d, why would the Wii U output them at a lower res? The only games that would display lower rez are backward compatible Wii games, or the old virtual console games. Any new games for it will be at the 1080p res(or at least 720p I imagine). It's already been stated the gpu is more powerful than a 360 or ps3, so why would the games be output in a lower res?
I'm not saying the next 360 or ps4 won't come along in a couple years and overpower the Wii U, but from all that's been said the Wii U will match or surpass the 360 and Ps3.
macharborguyJun 9, 2011
just because the system can output 1080p doesn't mean it can keep up 60fps at 1080p in all games. Even current gen games have to play tricks to get as much performance out of their systems.
I believe Halo 3 was criticized for not even being 720p, but actually being 640p. The reason was due to how they rendered the images, and the number of visual effect passes per frame. In the end what players got was better graphics at a lower resolution.
antialiasJun 9, 2011
Of course most games will sacrifice some resolution to look better(After all on a 42" or smaller tv, 1080p doesn't look much different from 720p unless you sit less than 5' from your tv). My main point though was to say that this console is just as "HD" as the 360 or ps3, and most likely a bit more powerful(from what developers have been saying). The original poster seemed to think it was the same old Wii with a new controller. I really don't have a horse in the fight as I'm a PC gamer, I just thought I would correct the original poster's misconception.
p3ngwinJun 8, 2011
"SUPPORTING" IS NOT THE SAME AS ACTUALLY MAKING THE GAME HAVE THAT.
THE hardware, SUPPORTS THAT REZ, JUST LIKE MY DESKTOP SUPPORTS MY MONITOR'S MAZ REZ OF 2500X1600, DOESN'T MEAN THE GAME WOULD RUN WELL ON MY GRAPHICS CARD AT FULL SETTINGS.
XBOX360 AND PS3 "SUPPORT" 1920X1080, YET ONLY A FEW GAMES ARE THAT RESOLUTION WITHOUT UP-SCALING/SAMPLING.
MOST ARE 1280X720.
I SAW NOTHING IN THE nINTENDO TECH DEMO THAT WOULD SUGGEST HARDWARE CAPABLE OF EVEN PROVIDING THIS GENERATION'S CONSOLE GAMES RUNNING AT FUL-HD, LET ALONE GAME OF NEXT GENERATION AT SUCH RESOLUTIONS.
THAT'S NOT TO MENTION THE "ALL VIDEO GAMES SHOWN FOR NEXT GEN WII ARE ACTUALLY SONY AND MICROSOFT VERSION" RUBBISH.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
petrofireJun 8, 2011
Dude, your Billy Mays key is on.
curtfehrJun 9, 2011
"Native" means it does. wow hardly anyone here actually watch the press conferences?
p3ngwinJun 29, 2011
"native" means it can output a full resolution signal as stated without up-scaling.
again, this does not mean you will get today's generation of games at that rez.
it simply means the graphics chip can output that rez, just like my 10 year-old PC graphics card can run the desktop at that rez, but not have a hope in hell of running today's games at a decent frame-rate or fidelity at such rez.
seroevoJun 9, 2011
I could care less about exclusives. It's luckily worked out to my advantage, but I'm not interested in Gears of War, Forza, Halo, Uncharted, Infamous, Resistance, Gran Turismo, God of War, Zelda, Kirby, Smash Bros., etc.
New Mario Wii and Galaxy were decent, but still both remakes of reboots or reboots of remakes.
And when I see Wii U, I can't help but think it'll be a $300 system you immediately need to spend another $150 on peripherals for to get any decent use out of it.
illinestJun 9, 2011
You wouldn't know this unless you REALLY paid attention but the big winner of E3 is Nintendo.
Reason?
Ubisoft and EA have already publicly stated how much they like the new Nintendo console ("best Nintendo's ever made")
The article wasn't entirely clear about the word 'console' but I believe they're talking about the development console - not the hardware that you and I will buy. I think Nintendo has finally done what's necessary to woo the third party developers. There is no longer a technology defecit, there is a hardware advantage for those who believe that the screen in the controller is a benefit, and neither Sony nor Microsoft has the IP strength to compete with Nintendo's IPs if you assume that Nintendo is getting their own version of all the big third party releases.
pimpin_assassinJun 9, 2011
meh
sirdandanJun 9, 2011
You really don't have a clue do you?
Nintendo are almost an entire generation behind.
The reason developers backed off from the Wii is because it couldn't handle the games they were making.
Nintendo have only just announced a console that can keep up with the PS3 and XBOX. And by the time it comes out next year, both Sony and MS will be looking at true next gen consoles.
Once they are out Nintendo will once again have the inferior console on the shelves and nobody will develop for it. They are an entire lap behind.
prizimJun 8, 2011
Nintendo is for kids. I thought they were the worst of the 3.

Haha, I love how people are enamoured with their PS3 and XBOX360 to see that yes, Wii U might actually be more powerful console than those 2. Of course, it won't matter if they come up with PS4 and XBOX720, and this doesn't mean Wii U will be a good console or that it will sell well, but facts are facts.
sarahambroseJun 9, 2011
Very Funny..
aunkerJun 8, 2011
Haha this is stupid. My two favorite parts of Nintendo's were
1. They had the video for the newly designed Starfox 64 but for some reason it was the only one they didn't zoom in on. (It was the only one I wanted to see.)
2. When Reggie Fils-Aime brought up Super Smash for about 2 seconds and all he said is It'll be compatible with 3DS and it won't be out for a long long time. Who gives a s**t? I just want a new Super Smash soon.

Nintendo was worse than Microsoft, all they offered were simple low-graphic games...like they always do. The Wii U is just idiotic, they built an entirely new system to do simple things you could do before with buttons. There's very few actually good uses for the hand held screen.
Twilight Princess was about the best looking game for the Wii, and it's no surprise that its sequel 5 years later, Skyward Sword, appears to have worse graphics.
I saw some things I'd play from Microsoft, but Nintendo? Lol.
borgcubeJun 9, 2011
Worse graphics? Really. Wow. You should really get your eyes checked.
Yeah, people really hate touchscreen, it's not like there are already multiple systems that use touchscreens... oh wait...
eatthebrainJun 9, 2011
Are you kidding me? In Skyward Sword Link's entire outfit is a solid green shirt or something, where in Twilight Princess it's actually detailed leather with layers of shirts under it. Besides the characters, the entire environment is incredibly more detailed in Twilight Princess. Most of Skyward Sword is just gradients, instead of actual textures.
Touchscreens are one thing, making an entire new system to incorporate it....is a whole different thing.
borgcubeJun 10, 2011
Dude, Skyward Sword is for the Wii and is coming before Wii U, I was talking about this: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/07/new-hd-zelda-hinted-for-wii-u/
eatthebrainJun 10, 2011
Well, I did say in the OP Skyward Sword x.x
That one might be decent, but Skyward Sword is made on the same system 5 years later and it has worse graphics...

Graphics are a gimmick.
