The Facebook Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 2012. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Facebook begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plugins.
nerfdudeDec 17, 2010
I just logged in for the first time in at least a month to digg this, specifically for "try to pull the plugins"
borbafettDec 17, 2010

BBC
glacierelementJun 26, 2011
I have seen some blatantly inaccuracies within articles on the BBC website, but usually they're pretty good.
kevenmDec 17, 2010
What does an awkward attempt at joining social media have to do with credibility?
catpukeDec 16, 2010
Jesus.. It's everywhere.

工木大asdasd
rethreadDec 17, 2010
Hmmm, I find this interesting. Someone dug you up for using foreign language.
It fascinates me. What does 工木大 mean? I never said I was a nice person. Just curious.
analjusticeDec 17, 2010
工木 is testicles and 大 is big so big testicles
eplurbispablumDec 17, 2010
Based on your user name, I'm going to take your word for it.
And yes, I am afraid to ask.

I think the vote is in. Staged or not, matters little to me. http://digg.com/kmp24

rethreadDec 17, 2010
Somebody is getting angry at not being able to speak their mind and is about to be punished, I think.
kmp24, I follow. My promises. You are followed. In fact you are voted in by a jury of your peers. It's the way I roll on this one. Somebody's voting hard in your favor, that always worries me. Not enough to not follow you through the times you seem headed for.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

ads
craigreedDec 16, 2010
It may as well say "Sponsored by Facebook" underneath "The Washington Post" as a subtitle.
sparhawk2kDec 16, 2010
Except Facebook probably doesn't give them ANY money for all of that...
craigreedDec 16, 2010
Thats just how ruthless those Facebook advertisement jockeys can be!
kingpDec 16, 2010
I'm going to log in to Friendster, and tell people about this. It will be rad.
lunarparcelDec 16, 2010
Hey look! I'm on the internet!
Sweet.
TimMorstonDec 17, 2010
thumbs up for using the word "rad" outside of its native environment, the early 1980s
eplurbispablumDec 17, 2010
Totally!!!
williamfrDec 16, 2010
This is not a Facebook problem, this is a Washington Post problem. Should be called 'Come on washington post'. I think Facebook would go for a much more subtle approach - that page is just spammy. I guess TWP wants to prove their are hip.
Closed AccountDec 16, 2010
Exactly. Facebook would do this w/o you knowing
=P
rethreadDec 17, 2010
I'm gonna check back in about an hour and follow whoever has the most diggs up OR down regardless of content in this article on Digg. williamfr, armstrong3 is currently winning.
And is life just a popularity contest? Of course not, but in instances, it seems beneficial. I'm going to run with this and Digg this article. My Karma is currently balanced, and I should do something about that. Without imbalance there is no correction.
It is a moral imperative. And it's the Digg v4 way.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
captspasticDec 16, 2010
I hope the tool posting this realizes that is in the hands of the web developer for the Washington Post, and has little to nothing to do with Facebook, other than the links and the icon.
Idiot.
bdog2g2Dec 16, 2010
As a web developer working for a large company, I'll go out on a limb and defend their web developer and castigate management. This wreaks of a manager or managers who don't understand the internet and really give less than two s**ts what consumers want. All they hear is "facebook. facebook. twitter. facebook. ok myspace too" .
captspasticDec 16, 2010
Well, if you want to get specific about it, the idiot comment was directed at the poster, not the web developer.
bdog2g2Dec 16, 2010
Oh the idiot part I got. Just sticking up from the dev at the Washington Post.
couragewulfDec 16, 2010
Also, two of the arrows point at the same pluggin. Arrow overkill.
riverbasinJan 6, 2011
Exactly, thanks for pointing that out to everyone!
djgump35Dec 16, 2010
Wow!
Facebook is the new Google, oh wait, Google is still kinda Google.
Facebook is the new...Micro...nope,Myspace...ha,no,
Ok Facebook is the new....spam, I need a filter for when I am not going to Facebook directly.
ifallenDec 16, 2010
Facebook is the new Aol. Facebook chat is Aim. Inbox = "you've got mail"
This is why it works. Its a little society pond for the "average" internet user.
KRESHDec 17, 2010
OH RLY?

dave308Dec 16, 2010
Good :) Facebook is a VERY handy tool to those that don't get all uptight about things all the time :) I don't see a problem with it. None of that FB stuff is intrusive.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

leloupDec 16, 2010

katharisonDec 17, 2010
and I %)
davidjtateDec 16, 2010
I took one look at that image and all sorts of bad memories of writing papers in high school came back to me.
jbpaul17Dec 16, 2010
That's more the Post vomiting Facebook all over its site than Facebook causing the problem.
lump1Dec 16, 2010
You're right. I hope the adblock people are working on a way to hide crap like this. But then again, if they succeed, they will just fold a mandatory five mentions of facebook into each article. Sad, what's happening to journalism!
jbomofoDec 16, 2010
damn its annoying even when you don't have an account!
Closed AccountDec 16, 2010
I'm one of the five proud people left who don't have a Facebook account. I miss out on invitations to parties, have no idea what my distant relatives are doing, and I have no way of spying on my ex-girlfriends.
mikepictorDec 16, 2010
I have one...I just never use it. Can't remember the last time I logged on.
ethanleducDec 16, 2010
We should create a Digg group for people who aren't on facebook.
How cool would we be then?
smashdiggDec 17, 2010
tough break. Maybe alcohol is the answer.
m0nk3y80y88Dec 16, 2010
Dude, Facebook is everywhere, deal with it.
johoshuaDec 16, 2010
I'm going to share this on Facebook via the Facebook icon above this comment

hupajoobDec 16, 2010
Its like a spreading virus - eventually websites will only BE facebook.
nitetrippDec 16, 2010
that's not facebook... that's the washington post plastering every social media widget they can find on their page.
internets is hard yo.
temposyrinxDec 16, 2010
what's facebook?
shea620050Dec 16, 2010
This scares me for some reason
jawniDec 16, 2010
People are more concerned with the amount of links to facebook instead of the article about threats of nuclear war. lol
brese1200Dec 16, 2010
Going to post to facebo-err wait... DAMN YOU FACEBOOK! DAAAAAMN YOUUUUU!!
suicideluvkittyDec 16, 2010
what's that random floating arrow head supposed to be pointing at down at the bottom of the image?
i find it more frustrating when i want to post something to my facebook wall and all i can find is the like button. or when i have to try more than one of the share to facebook widgets they've embedded in their page. (ok, so the twp has that going on too...)
it's like they got a new widget and never took down the old one. or those floating share widgets that end up sitting over a chunk of the content.
ChrisAllenWrightDec 16, 2010
Is that really bothering anyone?? I could care less...if anything....good for facebook.
amirraminfarDec 16, 2010

I wish the person who made this didn't crop his screen shot so we could see the other tabs open in his browser. I guarantee one was Facebook.
guillauweDec 16, 2010
It is so true, unfortunately!
ammoman23Dec 16, 2010
No s**t! Why are so many people in love with, and fascinated by facebook? Neat, you saw my pictures and posted a lame text message to my wall!
geminusDec 16, 2010
The solution is simple:
http://webgraph.com/resources/facebookblocker/
This blocks most site's built in facebook spyware.
dwhsDec 16, 2010
Jesus, that is crazy
lucascgcDec 16, 2010
The best part: he actually missed one of the facebook citations.
