I played Backgammon with Rocky the owner of Bennihana. He was a fabulus player but did not loose well. RIP Rocky would be pissed about this negativity.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

That is sooooo lame!

I know the US is typically known for a highly litigious population, but I don't think food bloggers will get sued like this.

Tbh, Benihana is sort of like one step up from chinese take out, so it's not like the blogger was in the wrong here. OMG THEY MAKE THE FOOD IN FRONT OF YOU!?!? OOOH FIRE! Yeah, no... At least some Benihana knock offs like Osaka or Shogun are actually of decent quality for pretty much the same price.
vtbarreraFeb 7, 2011
I f**king love Shogun in LA.
MarleybonezFeb 7, 2011
Suing someone because they expressed their opinion on a blog? Come on Benihana, grow up and quit being such whiners.
xtomtomxFeb 7, 2011
Just an FYI, Benihana is an American company chain, founded by an American, and chaired by an American. They own many lesser "Japanese-influenced" theme restaurants in America also.
Though there is a Benihana in Japan, it's not the same thing anyone from the states would recognize, and not really all that popular also.
And yeah, I agree, it IS on par with Chinese takeout.
It's a concept that has lost it's style, edge, and even entertainment value.
and the food ain't that great, either.

Careful you might get sued.

Why would someone in Japan go to a Benihana for a bad american interpretation of Japanese food? It seems like a crazy paradox that it hasnt gone bankrupt. It would be like Taco Bell being the biggest restaurant in Mexico.
xtomtomxFeb 8, 2011
And yes, normally you would be right. And anyone who has been to Japan can testify that we are a super hard-nosed bunch about our restaurants, which is why our food is listed as some of the best in the world. (Remember, we started all that Iron-chef stuff because our food became so awesome it bored us, literally) anyhoo, Benihana in Japan is a totally different experience than in America. The food, atmosphere and show are like night and day. No comparison.
And it STILL sucks... comparatively.

Jack in the box is going to have my head on a stick, if this is the case, they'll probably try to make a meal out of it, too.
