Kevin Rose submitted an old video that was already all over the front page of Digg weeks ago. Just goes to show that he doesn't watch his own site, never did, and when this pops it will be a perfect tragic example of why the New Digg sucks. This would have been eaten alive on the old Digg as a dupe regardless of the submitter. In the new age of Digg, there are no dupes. Luckily, this is amazing enough of a video that it'll be the first quality piece of content to hit since MrBabyMan's eloquent "Content Curation" post.
Makes perfect sense to me. New Digg sucks.

well kevin needs to read his TOS. this is obvious spamming and kevin needs to delete his account like he would to any other spammer....

Love that the video is on the page! Great new feature. :)
supernova36Aug 30, 2010
I hate the new Digg, but that is actually a cool feature.
absolutelytrueAug 30, 2010
This is excellent. Not the video particularly, but the fact that I can see it right here.

Hey i'm not saying parts of the new site don't suck, but give credit where credit is due. There are a couple new features that are good, embedded youtube videos is one of them.

Look. Kevin and Digg have already addressed every single gripe. I won't argue that they launched Digg v4 half-baked, but I think it will be better once everything that has been promised has been implemented, such as the "taste-maker" ranking system, upcoming stories returning, and "my news" that is based on ranked taste-maker rather than commercial blogs. I'm being patient and giving them a month. Though I think it's pretty amateur that they didn't figure all this out in the beta period.

If you don't like it here anymore, you're free to close your account and go elsewhere. Kevin has accepted constructive criticisms and addressed them, but I guess he doesn't put much weight on the opinions of trolls with nothing positive to offer so he may have you blocked. I recommend you try Plurk. Good luck.

You can block people on this site? Please do tell us.

You just don't get it Kevin, your business advisors/partners don't get it and your investors don't get it but all of you WILL get it when people find other alternatives. Digg is about user driven content not content driven content.
No users = No Revenue = No Investors = No Employees = No Digg. It's just that simple.
The recent tropicana orange juice label debacle should be a good indicator of digg's future but unlike you, they quickly "got it" once they saw their profits dip 20%.
Funny thing is many of the sites spamming digg today would have gone belly up long ago if it werent for users submitting their content on digg and in case you forget, if it werent for the users no one would give a crap about you "Kevin Rose".
And before some of you say "well they're still working it, LOOK THEY BROUGHT THE THUMBS BAACK!!" It's not about "bugs" or "thumbs", it's about the fundamental changes that have taken place here. It has gone from a website where millions of people read, post and vote on interesting/comments to a dead site filled with dull direct submissions from major media conglomerates like time, engadget, mashable, etc.
YOU SCREWED UP K-ROSE!
YOU CANT IGNORE REALITY!
bunkersAug 30, 2010
I honestly don't understand why your knickers are in such a bunch. Anyone who makes content can push their stuff into digg, and if people like it they digg it up. It's not like the old digg required news orgs. not to submit their storries, and that a user who really 'got' digg would be required to do it. If you don't like the direct posts, then don't digg them, and if everyone is like you and feels the same way, then the direct submissions won't hit the front page.
You would think the tech community would be full of more open minded people that didn't hate change for the sake of hating. If someone could give me a logical argument as to why the new digg sucks with facts and not opinion, I would love to know.

All these comments about how DiggV4 sucks are getting to be just stupid. If you don't like it, leave. Simple as that, 'Kevin' will get the message if those monthly visitors aren't here....Crying and complaining over and over in every story comment section is just annoying for those who are willing to stick it out for a bit and see what happens. Let it be and leave if you're so unhappy with a site on the internet.
cloudberriesAug 30, 2010
You can't just expect a community of users who have developed around a site like Digg to just "let it be". This is the equivalent of going down your local pub one night, which you're used to having the old-school decor, the darts board, the pool table and so on, only to find it's been turned into some sort of trendy consumer-whore bar with ads plastering every wall and plasma-screens beaming adverts directly into your eyeholes.
Why are you surprised that the comments areas are full of bitching? These guys have had their comfy, familiar local taken away from them.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
deluca92Aug 30, 2010
are these the same locals who use ad-block on digg so that none of the ads get through to them and prevent digg (also known as a business ) from making money? For every digg v3 user that leaves someone will take your place. Things change... if you don't like the changes go burn your eyes out over at reddit.
diddles1212Aug 30, 2010
I'm not surprised... however these same people at a pub would just stop going after complaining once or twice to the owner. Not keep coming every night and sit there have a few brews and complain all night long. It seems like such a waste of time to sit there behind a computer making a point of posting stupid comments in every 'Front page' story, the internet is a big place there are plenty of sites 'like' digg - go on and try them if digg isn't for you anymore.
macharborguyAug 30, 2010
When has Digg ever listened to the "legacy" community? How much of the original Digg v1 community is still around?
