"Endendre" is a terrible word choice. It simply means "again."
"Innuendo" would make way more sense.

It means "to hear" in french.
It has been used quite often in the expression "Double Entendre", which is to mean that there are two possible ways to 'hear' what has been said.
And innuendo could work, but i don't think it's the best way to use it..
It's just a general play on words.
Before you correct someone on their vocabulary, you should probably get informed first....

Well in French, it's literal meaning is "to hear", but could also be used in a more abstract way to mean "getting along".
Although when used in the english 'Double Entendre', yes it is more accurately described as "two ways to understand it".
And i noticed the 'd' / 't', but i had already typed up my reply....lol.

I am a french speaker who made a typo. And it wasn't a correction about vocabulary. "Entendre" is a dumb choice.

"Double Entendres" have nothing to do with repetition....the 'Double' in question refers to "two possibilities".
Kind of a misnomer actually.....
But really, i never knew such a simple expression would be so hard to understand, especially to a so-called French Speaker.....
You tell me how it's so difficult buddy, you seem to be struggling here.....

Yeah, it's actually closer to 'double meaning'. An ambiguous sentence that can be taken two ways and be funny.
You can't take idioms in foreign languages, directly translate them using a dictionary, and expect it to work.

Well, literally double entendre would not mean "hear again." It would mean "double hearing."
Classically it is a spoken phrase that is designed to elicit two separate and distinct messages heard and understood by the listener from the same statement.

Oh, and i highly doubt you're a french speaker...
I'm a native french speaker. English is my 2nd language. (I know a tad of German / Spanish as well, and can understand some Portuguese and Italian)
Just from the way you literally translate 1 word out of a sentence, and expect it to still hold together and make perfect sense, I can tell you are NOT very good with languages.....
