And people go nuts when a Muslim does the same thing in Saudi Arabia.
blackinthmiddleJul 23, 2010
I'm not exactly sure what your point is. People should go nuts when *anybody* does something like this.
More than anything else, I think the reason people take more umbrage when Muslims do it is that it appears to be an accepted part of their religious culture. But overall, people will always be outraged by behavior such as this.
spacem00seJul 23, 2010
"People should go nuts when *anybody* does something like this."
No they shouldn't. Typically if you have a major problem with your girlfriend flashing her boobs for a camera, you break up with her, you dont murder her and try to cover it up.

cannabistJul 24, 2010
Exactly, which is why everyone should go nuts if you don't break up with her, and instead kill her. I don't see your point spacem00se.
And if you're a Muslim in the Middle-East who flashed her titties, I guarantee that woman would face death by honor-killing.
At least here in the civilized world its only cases like this where an insane boyfriend kills the woman.
gamemonkeyJul 24, 2010
Are you retarded spacm00se?
keithlolbermannJul 24, 2010
Good god, you're an idiot, spacem00se.
fjrrulzJul 24, 2010
At least spacem00se has chicken.
factorof13Jul 24, 2010
It seems like spacem00se was saying that people would take the man's side in Saudi Arabia. I.E. People would go nuts when a woman poses nude in SA.
Could be wrong, but that's what his followup comment seems to indicate.
maxvetteJul 23, 2010
People go nuts over this in the US too.
Now a woman killing a man? that gets ignored.
eh123Jul 24, 2010
No, you get a movie on Lifetime
ravenlarkJul 24, 2010
And the woman is seen as "empowered". Or in prison. Or both.
neotechniJul 24, 2010
"And people go nuts when a Muslim does the same thing in Saudi Arabia. "
As well they should. Anyone who kills another is a monster, I don't care that your backwards religion says it's ok. You're still monsters.
chrissayboJul 23, 2010
that's messed up
blackinthmiddleJul 23, 2010
You know, if a guy is making a ton of money and stands to lose it all in a divorce, I could at least see his rationale for wanting to kill his wife. I'm obviously not saying it's right. But you could at least say, "The motivation was...". They weren't married. They didn't have kids. She wasn't going to get any of his money if he broke things off with her. He sounds like an insanely jealous boyfriend who wants to control his girl's actions all the time. Please, make sure he doesn't die. I want him to do every f**king year of that life sentence he has coming to him. Here's hoping that he lives until 120!
0rphJul 24, 2010
Bulls**t. I don't want him getting free room and board for the rest of his life. Lex talionis. He should be executed. Plus, the whole idea of life imprisonment being a worse punishment than execution is something I hear people say a lot, but I don't believe it for one moment. There's a reason why defense lawyers try to settle out of court with a life sentence rather than go to court and potentially getting death. People generally don't want to die, and would rather live a long unhappy life in prison than be executed. f**k them. In my book if you commit murder there should be no question, you will be executed.
milkmageJul 24, 2010
it costs us more to execute someone than to feed them for the rest of their lives in prison.
if you are sentenced to death, you get an automatic appeal. lawyers cost the state money... nevermind court dates and all that.
http://deathpenaltyinfo.org/costs-death-penalty
“The additional cost of confining an inmate to death row, as compared to the maximum security prisons where those sentenced to life without possibility of parole ordinarily serve their sentences, is $90,000 per year per inmate. With California’s current death row population of 670, that accounts for $63.3 million annually.”
icadilJul 24, 2010
Sadly a life sentence is only roughly 30 years. So, here is to hoping his life sentence without parole causes him 3 different kinds of cancer, that he survives, a few broken bones that never recover, and and amputated dick via teeth.
atomic1fireJul 24, 2010
This classy act of a man should just get the firing squad.
Sure, She showed off her chest to everyone else,
That just means that she isn't a good girlfriend, not that you have to kill her.
If anything, Breaking up with her would have just worked fine.
nullityJul 24, 2010
From the article:
"He has tried to commit suicide on two occasions since the incident saying that he does not want to go to prison for the rest of his life."
0rph and Atomic1fire want to give this guy what he wants: an easy way out.
F' this dude. He doesn't deserve to get his death wish.
Closed AccountJul 24, 2010
He deserves death, not life in prison — and certainly not a 30 year "life" sentence. A death sentence is NOT the "easy way out." It is NOT suicide. While suicide is the act of a deeply distressed person that in other circumstances deserve our help and sympathy, it is death on your own term, in your own time. A death sentence is different.
Being murdered by an incredibly jealous, selfish, self-aggrandizing scumbag of a boyfriend is not the same as suicide. Being locked up for thirty years, or for the rest of your life is not the same. Nor is being put to death by the state — but that last alternative is the closest we can get.
Fry the scumbag. This is a clear-cut case. There's no DNA evidence to save him. There's do doubt. He needs to die.

What does rape and sexual assault have to do with this case? I agree that it's horrible, but you're in the wrong thread buddy.
mrfizzleJul 24, 2010
Okay so that might not pertain directly to the topic, but it still has the same theme of violence towards women in the military. And imho, those numbers really are astounding, especially since they involved soldiers, who are supposed to be these perfect moral beings.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
davidrsilvaJul 24, 2010
I'm more curious what counts as "sexual assault". If it's stuff like "hey baby" or looking at someone's ass that counts then I think they need to redo the numbers. I'd like to see just the number of rape. The 30% was high enough to be concerned.
phrawghJul 24, 2010
Maybe the military isn't the best option for women?
grammerpantsJul 24, 2010
It very well may not, but they should be able to join if they choose that life.
tsk05Jul 24, 2010
I thought the military was suppose to encourage discipline, not rape...
PS: Yay victim blaming.
testoreJul 24, 2010
Maybe the military is not full of honorable guardians of the world freedoms like some people say here but by thugs.
atomic1fireJul 24, 2010
But the person in question of the conversation wasn't a thug, she was a chick whose jealous boyfriend murdered her and called it a DUI.

No veteran, male or female, that has served their country should die in this way. God Bless you Ms. Brashers.

No person should die this way.

Women are treated brutally in the Military.

This happened in Colorado Springs. I had just moved from there to Denver, but was actually down there when this took place. It had snowed that weekend and I remember passing the scene of the accident. I didn't think twice about it, but it's weird looking back and realizing I was witnessing a murder scene.
Also, this guy deserves to fry. You can't even begin to call yourself a man when you do this to a woman (or anyone for that matter). I really hope this assh**e fries. This is exactly why I support the death penalty -- for situations just like this.
f**k that assh**e.

It's sad that I have to put that.

Buried for misleading title. He has only been charged with murder, not convicted. And there really doesn't seem to be all that much evidence, especially for a murder case. Stupid sensationalism.
hipmanJul 24, 2010
Don't know what article you read. That crash was no accident.
hipmanJul 24, 2010
Seems like more than plenty to me.
bobsutanJul 24, 2010
It's a lot of hearsay and even if they have him on tape it's probably not going to make it into the case if he didn't know he was being recorded. The confessions to the other chick may not either if his lawyer is any good.
crossmrJul 24, 2010
The charge also doesn't seem to make sense. First degree murder usually requires premeditation and a plan. It seems like it happened out of the blue. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

"First degree murder usually requires premeditation and a plan. It seems like it happened out of the blue. "
It sure looks planned since he claimed to have planned it and all...

22 year old vet? How is this possible? Do we not give any training to the people we throw into the battlefield?
schnikies79Jul 24, 2010
If you join at 18, that is 4 years. Most total active duty length is 4 to 6 years.
nepidaeJul 24, 2010
I wasn't trying to be an ass, but I don't know a single person who understood life at 18, much less at 22. And to be a vet at 22 is like being 55 when you should be graduating college...
atomic1fireJul 24, 2010
People Join the army at 18 because it's a guaranteed job if you pass, you get tons of benefits if you make a career out of it, and you can get scholarships and stuff later on.
liquisoftJul 24, 2010
This is horribly f**ked up.

Guys, I know it's all fun and games when you're not the one being murdered and all, but can we show some respect, please?
I mean, someone she knew and trusted methodically planned her demise. It's not one of those heat of the moment things. The crazy bastard f**king ended her life and wrecked her family over fun bags. So can we please just leave said bags alone, and mourn the loss of someone who served our country?
