I started syncing my iPod, and managing my music with a program called MediaMonkey, it literally takes seconds to sync, and is way more customizable and user friendly than iTunes....Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Hey, I want to buy an mp3 player. I want it to play mostly low bitrate bad quality music. I want to be extremely limited to what devices I can play the music on. For instance, I don't want to be able to drag it to my computer and use for any general purpose I choose. I would like to control it with the most awful software imaginable. Lastly, I want it in a finish that will look like nothing but dirt and fingerprints after a few weeks.
Any suggestions?

To be fair... My iPod is still in pretty good condition and the battery lasts a fair while still and its 5 years old. I figure it was worth its price.

you must be really bad at anything having to deal with computers then. backing up an iphone is like, at most a 2-hour process. i've done it numerous times and most iphones i've had to do it to have been filled with 15gbs of crap. maybe you need a new computer?

@Warren803 Maybe it does take a long time for you to backup, I don't know? But in my case it doesn't and never has taken more than a few minutes to sync and no more than 30 min to back up. So when a comic solely relies on something to be true in order for it to be funny like this comic did, then for me it's just not funny. If you LOL'd at it then please post your praise as you see fit.

Why dont you guys google "Why does it take so" and see what the first search is that Google suggests.
In fact, just type "Why" into Google and tell me what the 2nd most suggested search topic is.
Maybe it's cached on my computer, but I would bet it's in the top 10 searches beginning with "Why does it take so long to".
Then come back and let me know how uncommon or common this issue is.

You must only have devices with very little space because picking you're gonna put on a 120gb out of 200gb+ worth of music and then doing the actual syncing takes much longer than just a "couple of minutes".

I know I'm gonna get dugg down for this, but you do know that all music on iTunes no longer has any DRM on the songs it sells, and you can drag files out of iTunes into an open Windows Explorer window with the MP3 player device of your choice open, right? Music is stored in My Music just like any other program, and iPods can play non-DRM MP3, AAC, etc... files.
I mean, if you're gonna attack iTunes and the iPod, at least attack them for real reasons like the lack of Vorbis support, or the fact that you can't set up multiple auto-import folders. Don't attack them for reasons that either never existed (such as not being able to play any kind of file you want on an iPod) or reasons that don't exist anymore (such as not being able to use music purchased on iTunes anyway you want).

I agree, but still iTunes is a piece of really crappy bloatware. I only use it to create playlists directly on my iPod. For everything else (managing my music library, tagging, syncing/transferring) I use MediaMonkey which has served me well for years.

I use linux as my OS, and I use gtkpod to sync my iPod, and to erase and sync 7gb of music, roughly 2000 sounds, it takes me 10 minutes, so iTunes is obviously some poor quality software. I wish iPod would play .flac files though.
