There's really no more context to the story. They abused patients in very gross ways The reason the old people didn't complain was because they were Alzheimer's patients. Think about that. Some of those patients had the mental age of a young child.
That said, this happened a couple of years ago, and was discussed on Digg at the time. I don't know why the story has suddenly resurfaced. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with submitting old news - I just really, really wish my hometown were known for something other than this. We have beautiful lakes! Well-kept parks! Low crime rate!

@fxu1989.. Pack mentality can do a lot of things but first you need an instigator of that pack. One who leads it so to speak. Or a few that have like minds and go in and do a lot more than they normally would on their own. However, in this case I think the pack side to things made it more noticeable or one of them talked. The one or ones who initiated this would have probably done this on their own as well it just would have went unnoticed. A few of the girls probably just went along with the others to stay apart of that group as to not be ostracized.

Sry but in your scenario girl 2 is the dominant one. Just saying she is the leader doesn't make it so. It takes actions like steering the conversation and or actions to become the leader. So girl 1 is in essence the follower in that example. If for instance girl 1 was the leader and in this type of group setup if girl 2 came along and said this girl 1 would have dismissed it as it was not her idea and if they did it at all it wouldn't be exactly as girl 2 said or wanted and girl 1 would have taken that idea for themselves and modified it in some way.

I can totally relate to these girls since I do the exact same thing at my job: when I get bored, I walk around and chat with my co-workers or occasionally read an article online. Sometimes - and I can't believe I'm even admitting this - I'll leave the office and go get a cup of coffee.
