I still can't believe that idiot Whittington didn't sue Cheney for shooting him in the face.
Cheney shoots him in the face and chest, he has a heart attack during the process of removing the buck from his chest, meanwhile Cheney hopped in a car and fled to avoid the bad press (protect self image foremost right)... and Whittington apologizes for all the bad press trauma that Cheney had to go through.

He looks (from the hang on his face) very similar to the French lady who had a similar operation, but with her it was only her lower face.

Im actually surprised at how good and scar free he looks. A lot of the freakishness of his face is from his inability to control the muscles yet, so some muscles are just "hanging there". I can imagine that improving drastically with physical therapy.

The goal is to make it possible to have 80% of a normal life, instead a life where he can't breath, eat or talk. And when are you ever going to be fully healed after major surgery? I fractured and dislocated an ankle and to took 2 months in a cast, 3 months of physical therapy, plus another 7 months before I was back to normal. It will take this guy at least that long before the face looks fairly normal, but it will never be 100%, just like my ankle will never be 100%.

No dude, it's not just "probably better than before". It's a HUGE ASS GIANT f**kING IMPROVEMENT, and yes, that is something to get on top of a mountain and shout to the world about. What kind of sci-fi fantasy world do you live in that you expect to graft an entire face onto someone and expect them to come out looking like Tom Cruise?

I don't think it's meant to look normal straight after the operation. I would imagine It takes several years of physiotherapy and time for the nerves to grow in / muscles to start working before it will start looking normal. Actually, it's not as bad as I expected, I seen fellers that looked like that down south, minus the swelling. Not a ghastly result, especially for that soon after the surgery. I hope they do a follow up after the recovery period. Something tells me they won't though.

The face transplant guy had me thinking about how important the eyes truly are, and how much they will mean to his family. His parents will still see their son "behind the mask". Very, very tough stuff right there and I hope they can all make it through and be happy.

I agree with you. Here is this young man that nearly died and has had to live faceless. Thank God that the doctors are able to give him a face. It is going to take years of painful surgery and work muscle exercises to make that face truly his own. To have people make fun of it is pathetic.

That being said..
My PROBLEM is with our level of ability. The guy looks like a f**king demon, and the Doctors are proud? Just seems like we should be better suited then we currently are.
