well, i know my redneck @ss tried to order gravy biscuits and sweet tea at mcdonalds in new york and they looked at me like i was crazy.
carlrey0216Aug 12, 2010
Hey hey, nothing wrong with having some southern heart... I know when I went to DC, Chicago, or new york even with a sweet tea request i'd get weird looks... Then again, I don't even know how I could speak without using Y'all. lol...
vanillazen57Aug 12, 2010
Well we have sweet tea now, so I don't know when you ordered it. I get then all the time. Gravy biscuits... not so much.
surferessAug 12, 2010
The McSpaghetti does not look too appealing, and yet it looks miles better than the McSpam one.
danisthAug 12, 2010
I can confirm the McSpaghetti's disgustingness.
But its so cheap... and you can't get spaghetti anywhere else in the Philippines...
sabinAug 12, 2010
I was going to say that the spam one looks awesome. I miss all the crazy spam products in Hawaii. I was there for spam fest this year, it was awesome.

Not even if they have poutine?
sabinAug 12, 2010
Canadian checking in just to tell you that I have never seen that in McD's. Might be a Quebec only thing but I can confirm that we don't have that in Toronto.
falconearAug 18, 2010
Sabin: BS. I HAD that at a McD's in Toronto...or it might have been in Niagra. Nonetheless, it's the only time I ever had poutine.

I actually want that Bacon Roll. I'm surprised US Mcdonalds hasn't adapted that.

A bacon butty is a staple food here in the UK - you'll find it anywhere that serves breakfast
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
I'm surprised they don't offer them in Canada considering that the bacon sandwich is pretty popular here (except we use mayo instead of ketchup). Also, pretty much any diner in Canada offers grilled cheese (tomato and bacon are optional add-ons) and I'm sure McDonalds could whip that up pretty quickly.
jserioAug 12, 2010
Forgive my ignorance, but is it crispy bacon or just ham?
http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/food/breakfast/bacon-roll.mcdj
From the photo on the site, it looks like ham.
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
It's not "Canadian bacon", it's what people in the UK refer to as "streaky bacon". It's basically US style bacon which is what most people in Canada refer to as just "bacon". BTW, in Canada, we refer to what American's call "Canadian bacon" as "back bacon"
anonymous6237Aug 12, 2010
In Singapore they have a double Big Mac. A friend of mine saw it while on a business trip. Unfortunately they were sold out when he tried to order it.
leif777Aug 12, 2010
They have them in Canada.
boardthisAug 12, 2010
how can a mcdonalds run out of 4 "all beef" patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun?
anonymous6237Aug 12, 2010
I already question the claim of "All Beef" in the US so it's really questionable in Singapore
diuleiAug 12, 2010
I think I saw that in Japan too, it was called the "Mega Mac"... wonder if it still exists. I was also shocked that Japan had something fattier than we do in the States.

You should check out the Window's 7 Whopper by Burger King Japan.

They're great for those times when a normal big mac isn't quite enough...
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
*jumps on the bandwagon* pretty much every sandwich can be "doubled" here in Canada, double big mac, double quarter pounder, bacon double cheeseburger, etc, etc... Why isn't that offered everywhere? Maybe it's one of those secrets where they don't have it on the menu but you can still order it...
fallout22Aug 12, 2010
You know what. Maybe it's because we have "free" healthcare.

They should sell beer at McDonalds in the US. Maybe after enough drinks there's a point where I would consider eating their "food".
thecoffeeAug 12, 2010
Won't happen, they would have to fire all their employees under the age of 21. Anyone younger can't even legally clean up alcohol.
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
I think that might just be a state law where you live. I may be wrong but I think that you can server alcohol in some states, even if you are under 21.
captininsanityAug 12, 2010
Last I heard you have to be 18+ to sell alcohol.

What is it with Hawaiians and Spam?
matthewf01Aug 12, 2010
Its a carryover from the WWII days... American GIs were shipped out with supplies of SPAM because it was shelf-stable meat.
wilf_brimAug 12, 2010
Actually, it isn't bad when used correctly. I throw it in my fried rice, which everybody loves and asks what is the meat.

Actually McD is big in India and is considered a premium brand compared to here. And to tell you the truth, their burgers in India are f**king awesome (if you can digest the concept of a veg burger). Just way better than what you get here.
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
Even though I'm not a vegetarian, I love veggie burgers. The brand I buy (ie. the cheapest ones) comes in packs of 4 that keep for like 2 months so I usually keep a pack in the fridge just in case a vegetarian shows up with my friends during BBQ time. I've ended up cooking them myself and eating them more than once b/c they were ready to expire and thought they tasted great. No, it is not a replacement for a beef hamburger, but the ones I buy (can't remember the brand, too lazy to go to the fridge and check) are actually pretty tasty. They're made with beans and spices as I recall and I love beans.

When I saw beer for sale at McDonald's in eastern Europe I got all excited and started taking pictures. The employees started yelling at me telling me McDonald's forbids people to take pictures of it. I said "oh sorry, i'm from America" to which they responded "its the same in America too". I don't know if this is true because I've never tried to take a picture of an American McDonald's. Sed eget sapien enim, a elementum augue. Sed suscipit consequat nisi et sollicitudin. I too recall McDonalds pizza from when I was a kid. We used to get it all the time for some reason, and as I recall it was disgusting. Crust like cardboard, gross sauce, gross pepperoni... Seriously the crust was the worst part, it was has hard as a rock.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

The best thing I've had was something called the Club House Mac in Japan in 2001. It was a Big Mac -1 of the patties +1 egg (McMuffin style) +1 Bacon and instead of the sauce it was a spicy mustard.

The chicken Big Mac sounds good, but I don't think I could ever eat Lobster from a McDonald's.
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
I live in eastern Canada and it's only on the menu during lobster season. It's actually probably the freshest thing they have on the menu. It's still gross, it's like a hotdog bun /w mayo and a little bit of lobster for $8.
liam2012Aug 12, 2010
That does not sound good at all.
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
It's not, I bought it once out of curiosity and was very disappointed. The lobster it's self is, well, steamed lobster like you can buy anywhere here during lobster season. If they put it on some decent bread it would be okay, just like a small lobster roll like you can get anywhere.
mescadAug 12, 2010
I had a McLobster in eastern Canada about a month ago and was pretty disappointed. I'm no lobster connoisseur (too expensive here in Kentucky) but I thought the lobster meat tasted OK. It felt like the roll was 75% celery and mayo though. Not sure if that's normal, but the celery taste was overwhelming for me.
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
@mescad:
That's normal (for McDonalds)... Like I said, the lobster is *really* fresh, like from either that morning's catch or from the day before since the buy it locally. They're just really cheap which is why it's all mayo and celery. The bread is probably from the same McDonalds bread factory where they send the rest of their buns from (frozen). Most likely you could have gone to any other restaurant and spent that $8 on a real lobster roll (lots of lobster, a bit of mayo and stuff on decent bread) and got a nice salad or fries to go with it for the same price as McD's charges. It's basically a scam for tourists, they're like "Oh we'll go to McDonalds because I want a Big Mac or whatever, oh look, they have lobster on the menu here, let's get that!".
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
I missed the edit window, but since you're from Kantucky you might not understand what we mean by "lobster roll" since it's pretty much only a well-known thing in Maine and the Canadian Maritimes, so here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobster_roll

Also the McDonald's in Orlando, FL not only has all of the regular menu items, they also have a wide selection of other items such as pasta, paninis, Belgian waffles, and omelets. and everything is cooked to order.

I remember ordering a beer at McDonalds in Germany. Somewhere off the autobahn near Kaiserslautern and in Mannheim on the Paradeplaz. We would go in there to spend dollars and get change in DM.
I was years ago though...
