While I appreciate the article's acknowledgement of scientific rigor in the social sciences, there is certainly a place for neuropsych, at the very least, in the study of sexuality. It is not, and should not, be pushed entirely out of the realm of the physical sciences. That's just silly.

I said "We're all gay, buddy. It's just to what degree are you gay." And he goes, "That's bulls**t, man. I ain't gay at all." And I go "Yeah, you are. And I can prove it." He goes "Fine. Prove it." I go, "All right. Do you like porn?" He says "Yeah, I love porn. You know that." I said, "Oh, and do you only watch scenes with two women?" And he goes, "No, I'll watch a man and a woman makin' love." And I say "Oh, and do you like the guy to have a flabby, half-flaccid penis?" And he goes "No, I like big, hard, throbbing c**k "ron white"

There are so many wonderful shades of gray in the world that I find it really sad when people choose to only see the black OR white.
I admire the people who find the soul they wish to spend their lives with regardless of the external package.
This article definitely speaks to how all of these definitions are social, not biological as is often assumed. Sex is not only about procreation, just look at the social studies of primates and parthenogenic species (and more studies are coming out about other species overturning the previous assumptions on monogamy and "heterosexuality")
Thank you for this article, I will have to check out this book for myself.

hmmm... let's see...boy meets girl, boy like girl, girl like boy...boy and girl date and later fall in love. boy and girl get married and have sex and have kids. Seems pretty straightforward to me
meribianFeb 5, 2012
And we definitely don't know anything about how to wash a baby.

I don't recommend reading this article unless you have a PHD in Anthropology and have been brainwashed by modern media and the educational left. Other than that it provides a different point of view of "normal".Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I do like incoherent rambling but that was pretty low quality stuff. One star, would not read again.

agreed.. would not recommend his comment to a friend

Well thanks for warning me *now*. Any suggestions for how I remove this constant craving for a bag of dicks now that I've already read the article?
aristotle0dudeFeb 5, 2012
Everyone including the "gay" people themselves would not be here right now if it was not for hundreds of generations of heterosexuals getting it on and procreating. The author of that blog seems to be a bit confused about the birds and the bees.
If you want to f**k people up the ass or be a carpet muncher, that is your business but don't go trying to rewrite history or what "normal" is. You cannot call your self "queer" on the one hand and then insist that it is normal.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
sbuckley00Feb 5, 2012
why not? Being gay is equally as normal as being straight. Being normal in itself is all about perception and one persons normal is not always another persons normal. However, in general my statement is true because they both exist in human beings and attraction is controlled by certain chemical compositions with in out brains. This makes them both normal.
aristotle0dudeFeb 5, 2012
Cool, so go ahead and procreate with another guy. Hint, you can't and you are here because two heterosexuals screwed each others brains out a long time ago and that was repeated again and again until your parents did it and you were conceived. That is how sex works. Sex requires two sexes whereas some other organisms reproduce asexually. Two guys cannot have sex. They can stimulate each other through various means but actual "SEX" requires a male and a female.
I had an interesting conversation with a colleague one day. He is for gay rights but he told me that he thinks it is gross that some teenagers practice sodomy with their girlfriends as a form of "safe sex". I agreed with him that it was gross for a guy to cum into some s**t but he cannot seem to get that s**t is s**t and that what gay dudes to is just as gross.
Sex "REQUIRES" a male and a female with their respective genitals connecting with each other with or without a condom.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I do not remember me saying that someone who is homosexual is able to procreate? OH yeah that is because I did not say that!
You are talking about sex but we are talking about sexual orientation. There is way more thing involved with sexual orientation than sex, so your whole point is mute. However, you are correct two men can not procreate together. But how does that matter or mean it is not normal?
If you whole argument is that is can not be normal because they can not procreate bu having sex then your argument is severely flawed. Reason being is that most people who have sex, are not doing it for procreation. The actual number of times that most people have sex for procreation is a very low percentage compared to times they had sex for other reasons.
aristotle0dudeFeb 5, 2012
So called "gay" sex is just mutual masturbation. It is not sex. Sex, by definition requires two sexes.
gotapointFeb 6, 2012
Actually, it doesn't always.

I like how people always bring up definitions like they're set in stone or given from on high. Words don't define us; we define words.
mizuhochanFeb 5, 2012
No it isn't normal. I can't do anything about it, nor do I want to, but it isn't normal. If it was, men would also be able to procreate.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

1st:) Your argument makes no logical sense at all. We are not talking about procreation here. We are talking about someones sexual orientation. And although sex is one part of two peoples relationship; it is certainly not the only part.
2nd:) Let us assume were were only talking about procreation. Your statement would only be true if the fact was that people only had sex to procreate. And that facts are that is not true at all. As a matter of fact, the majority of people have sex for procreation at a very low percentage compared to other reason to have sex.
This makes your argument invalid and shows how ignorant you are about the subject in question.
mizuhochanFeb 6, 2012
Whatever you say.
davidnivenFeb 5, 2012
Well, if sexuality is so dynamic, complex, and even changing, then why are there so many homosexual activists that swear homosexuals cannot change, attack those who do, and want to censor the knowledge of just how to change?

The article DOES NOT say that. And you bring your issues that taste like hate and not science.
davidnivenFeb 6, 2012
I just offer alternatives. Homosexuals who want to change should know that it is possible. No one is forcing anything on anyone. This is proven science.
I think that you are the one filled with hate, hate that people have successfully changed their sexuality.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Trolling takes time, isn’t it? If what you say is proven science, don’t worry. You and your kind will succeed. Homosexuals will little by little accept that as a fact. No more gay movements, no more discussions, no more doubts or debates, no more changing policies. Only if that was proven science... But I guess you know it’s anything BUT. So instead, little by little, homosexuals advance, the laws get changed, society’s views move forward. It must be hard to live in a bubble of delusion. But hey, it’s also a right to drown in lies if that is your painful wish. Your old age just shows that bigots dwindle in numbers. Desperation becomes louder. Because of the world you knew that is no more. Never, ever again. Pitiful. For you.
davidnivenFeb 6, 2012
You don't understand, sweetie. If homosexuals don't want to change, then OK. Let them have whatever sexuality they want. That's freedom. But, if they do want to change, then your kind should let them. Stop denying science.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Look grandpa, it’s been a long time since science was a kind of a religious oriented witchcraft disguised under a white smock. Science’s only true voice comes from different, more thoughtful and fallacy proof winds. As long as they are capable adults I have no problem with traumatized people trying to live a lie, sometimes lies is the only thing that is left when submerged in ignorance. But you will have a hard time trying to make a valid point out those lies; needless to say that calling them science shows a completely delusional and isolated state. As I said and I repeat it: it’s one’s right to believe in lies and act accordingly. But policies should not be based on falsehood and therefore they are changing. I guess it is time to update the XIX century books of your library. But keep those novels about romantic, heterosexual exclusive love. It’s almost the only place where you will find it as the only option from now on. It’s fascinating how the world changes in a few generations, isn’t it?

Article is laughable. She fails at revisionist history.
The author even concedes that heterosexuality is default and requires no "scientific study" to comprehend. Then spends the rest of the article explaining how "we" don't know anything about it. Entertaining stuff.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
