There's a Walmart supercenter opening up near here and there are plenty of local farms not too far away - I really hope they start working well and fairly with those farms/farmers.

I usually don't agree with Walmart's business practices, but this would be good if they follow through. I might actually shop there again.

Now if they stopped importing every other product in the store from China they might begin to make a dent in sustainability.
Wal Mart is a big reason why products are imported from overseas sweatshops, sent on polluting boats, planes, trains and trucks that travel half way across the world before making their way to store shelves.
I still have not desire to shop there.

The problem with local sourcing is that we will have to go back to the 1950s when you could only get certain produce at certain times of the year. NOTHING was really available all year round unless you lived somewhere like Texas or Florida, where in at least some parts of the state, year-round farming is possible.
