She probably is suffering but is too proud to let you know, in fear of seeming weak and/or giving herself the satisfaction knowing you are suffering without her knowing you are suffering.

atleast i have the digg users on my side. :)

Yeah. Even though I ended my last relationship, having a void where there was once everything (elohel melodramatics) sucked hardcore. Best cure is to spent less time on Digg and more time out with friends. :P

@drsolace
You are absolutely correct. Women get off on knowing that for some reason.
shediggsJul 26, 2010
@sexxxy Sorry to hear that as well. You do need some friend time to feel better. Go out and mingle.
@drsolace & @ craftguy unfortunately women have the tendency to do that kind of stuff. We are proud, but we do suffer, especially if it was a long termed relationship. We shed ALL of our tears with everyone else around us but make sure that we look strong in front of the other person.
sexxxyJul 26, 2010
i appreciate that @shediggs been trying too, seem good all day but when im alone i seem to break down. didnt know it would be this rough, so many memories just going down the drain!
craftyguyJul 26, 2010
@sexxxy
On the bright side, experiences like this allow you to really appreciate the good times!
laurenbabyAug 19, 2010
@sexxxy you know it hurt me too.
and I never wanted to see him hurt, I would never gain any satisfaction from seeing him endure any ounce of pain. as a matter of fact, I would have gladly taken it from him if I could just to know he didn't have to feel any. I prayed every night that his pain would go away. luckily, it has. trust me, I miss my best friend/other half constantly. I was never trying to be a bitch or careless about it. anyways, I felt like I needed to clear a few things up when I saw this..... lol

This hits really close to home...
Why is it that girls always dismiss me as their friend? It's not like they don't like me, they all talk to me about all sorts of things. Maybe they think I'm gay.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
dauntless1Jul 25, 2010
No. By and large, women are just under the mistaken impression that assh**es, jackasses and jerks can be reformed, or that those guys will change just for them, when if those guys were worth dating they wouldn't be assh**es, jackasses and jerks in the first place.
pillar007Jul 25, 2010
Man up, don't ever supplicate, tease them in a non-offensive way, don't comply with their requests without some gentle negging, etc.
verbist18Jul 25, 2010
They're not physically attracted to you. I don't mean that to sound harsh, but if a girl only wants to be friends it means she likes your personality but doesn't feel attraction.
ncg8rJul 25, 2010
Maybe???
dwest2Jul 25, 2010
Don't listen to people who think that girls are only attracted to jerks. There are plenty of really nice guys who do just fine with girls. That being said, don't be a pushover, re-read Pillar007's comment. He hit the nail on the head. Also remember that "nice" and "inoffensive" are not synonymous.
Also, hit the gym and hit the department store. Sounds superficial, but admit it, you feel something when an in shape well-dressed woman enters a room. They feel it too when they see a guy like that, even the nice girls.
spacejackJul 25, 2010
dwest isn't entirely wrong about the exercise but I had to respond to "hit the gym."
f**k the gym. Just do some goddamn pushups. Gyms are a ripoff and an insidious leechy subculture, and the pervasive casual equation of exercise with something that's only done at the gym is something that needs to be actively fought.
saranagatiJul 25, 2010
dwest2 was right about the gym. working out with other men will help boost your confidence. as for being put in the friend zone pillar was right but there is more than that. one thing i've realized lately is i've put myself in the friend zone more often than the girl put me there. don't go and hang out with a chick, take her on dates. when you meet them don't try to prove that you're the type of guy she wants to hang out with. as pillar alluded to make her feel like she's getting a trophy by getting you.
Of course there is always the style aspect of it that helps too. Do the gym thing and dress the part. Use google and do some research on fashion, colors that fit your complexion, etc. Find a style that fits wherever you're trying to meet girls and wear that style well. Even if you do look good already, if you're dressed in something simple like a simple tshirt, some jeans and a pair of chucks that will let you hit on any chick who isn't dressed up but you're kidding yourself if you think some chick who got all dressed up is going to be interested in you wearing that. On the other hand if you're dressed up you can hit on the girls that are dressed up as well as the ones that aren't.
crackshot91Jul 26, 2010
@Verbis18: Story of my f**king life. :(
arfikeJul 26, 2010
Speaking of something that needs to be actively fought..
Why should guys play some stupid role just to be noticed by girls? Who's telling these girls never to date a guy who is intellectually agreeable? And it's always the single girls who stress this more than anything else with the guy, not the ones who are taken; who tend to be more comfortable in their skin and actually a little grown up.
By "intellectually agreeable", I mean being open to their desires, while still maintaining one's own identity. For example, this one chick did her little test on me by saying she's really into big, cheap jewelry. She's one of those quirky, bohemian, artsy-types so I took it as a quirk in her personality, which I dug, ya know? But no, that was the WRONG ANSWER!! The correct answer was to point out how corny that was and casually make fun of her for it because I'm a dude and dudes aren't supposed to be deep or interesting.
It feels like establishing any sort of intimate relationship with girls anymore is like being on a game show. Why the hell is that? Who is telling these girls to constantly test men instead of getting to know us the way friends do; by being around them and talking *casually*? Test me, and I get the sense that you're a manipulative bitch. That's how I read her when she pulls that crap.

Don't be controlled by sex then. Sex is way more fun when you don't need it and it's more like a pleasant benefit of a relationship. We can satisfy our own sexual needs but they can't supply their own need for validation by being sexually wanted and once you eliminate those two needs as motivation for staying in the relationship, they get a lot more fulfilling.

Flirt with other chicks. Nothing super obvious as you need to have plausible deniability, but she will know.
Even when she is right in front of you, flirt away, it will drive her nuts and make her want to win you back from the competition.
She might act pissed, but if you are already under embargo can it get much worse?
ncg8rJul 25, 2010
Or worse, pass on the crumbs she offers you. After you turn down your weekly ration of sex without so much as blinking an eye, she will freak right the Eff out. Game, Set, Match.

From someone in a long-term, real relationship... if you ever date someone who uses weapons against you of any kind (embargos count as weapons) rather than constructive problem-solving, get out of the relationship. You don't need to play silly games or be anything less than perfectly honest in any relationship worth keeping.
ncg8rJul 25, 2010
True enough. However, a lot of men are not in a position to up and leave when things get sh1tty around the house. I was, and did, so I can vouch for your advice being good advice. For others.... They gotta improvise.

trdrstvJul 25, 2010

"You don't have to like my friends, and you don't have to hang out with those you don't like; you really don't. There's personality conflicts that happen, and I get that but just because you don't want to spend time with someone doesn't mean I don't have to."

poonchowJul 25, 2010
not to mention women seem to exit the relationship with more physical property and less financial disparity than men. I've personally seen friends pour all kinds of money into a relationship and then the bitch leaves or they fall apart and he's left with nothing.
ocdrockstarrJul 25, 2010
Not me. I've both broken up with someone and been broken up with, and I have returned everything that was bought for me/was technically theirs to begin with. Granted, that leaves them with a few things they probably don't want for themselves, but I don't get any satisfaction keeping things that remind me of them. Nor do I want to destroy their stuff. So they are left with all that stuff and I leave with only the things I brought into my relationship.
Closed AccountJul 25, 2010
That just means you played the game all wrong...why would you just keep buying your girl unless you're getting something in return, ala gifts for yourself or bedroom action...when I go to restaurants and it's not a special occasion like her bday, we take turns picking up the check. We don't buy each other material goods as gifts either..that's the easy way out..it's like buying someone a gift card, it's just a cycle of money changing hands and a nicer way of saying, here's cash, i have no clue what to get you. Please guys out there, don't be a fool and think that the only way to keep a girl is by buying her things.

Suffering seems pretty subjective to me.
Both genders get in their own crappy relationships but saying one suffers more than the other is a contest for who's more of a victim.
Everyone suffers.
As a woman, I know that it's more socially acceptable for me to fall back on my friends, but after a while you realize that you can only do that so many times because no one likes a downer. It's better if you just grow up and remember that just because the guy you were with was an assh**e doesn't mean that all other guys are like that.
I had a guy I was really into bulls**t me about not being with some other woman after he started growing distant. I asked him about it, and he told me he was just busy with work, and not wanting to be too annoying, I let it go. Next thing I know, I hear he's taking someone else to France for Valentine's Day.
I can't say f**k men. But I do say f**k lying selfish assh**es in general. Men, women or otherwise.

Guys who are 18-23 haven't really matured emotionally yet even though they think they have. Girls however have it much more together at that age. "Girls however have it much more together at that age"...until that dreaded time of the month, also known as "princess mental tension".
I don't get it. People constantly complain that men aren't emotional enough, now your all turning around and say their not emotionally mature? A man that simply doesn't give a f**k is pretty emotionally mature in my eyes. its the ones that fall head over hills for some cheap trash and make her his whole world that are emotionally immature. And those are rare.
I call bulls**t on this. Unless the men your referringto are diggers.
androneJul 25, 2010
@Galgori I think the point is both extremes are bad. If you date someone and completely don't give a f**k that's not really emotionally mature but if you're a creeper and make someone you're entire life always agreeing with them that's not emotionally mature either.
blackchrispJul 25, 2010

melthornalJul 25, 2010
I've yet to meet a single girl aged 18-25 who has had it anywhere even remotely close to "together." In my experience most girls are way worse than guys. Waaaaaay worse. A guy may say 'f**k it, lets get drunk and play video games" where a girl goes off into their teenage high school drama and run around s**tting on everyones day for a week. If you ask me, f**king around for a few hours and getting over it >>>>>>> being a crazy person/horribly overreacting.

I've been using okcupid.com. It's free and I've gotten a few dates out of it. Nothing that lasted, though. It's hard to find a girl who just likes to do nothing and be a nerd with me.

I once met a guy who had purposefully gotten himself fired just to collect unemployment, which he lived off of for over a year, and counting.
I start to go crazy if I'm unemployed for even a month.
While I won't lie that a good looking face and nice pecs are a big plus, I'm mostly attracted to guys with an interesting personality, who are also good people and have a job.
I also realize that in order for things to work out with "Mr. Right", I need to be "Ms. Right" as well. That means being educated, a decent human being, self-reliant, and not being a boring person myself.

This is the reason men take a lot of s**t from woman and simply have to deal with it. Its the fact that we're biologically designed to constantly chase after woman thats the f**k up. Yea, a woman can go off and find a replacement the next day. And you might argue, "well she wont find a decent guy" well who gives a f**k? You have that connection with the opposite sex at any time you want, men don't. Besides, just coming out of a relationship you just want a rebound and get on with your day anyway.
Its the fact that men are deprived from both the emotional and physical connection to the opposite sex unless their lucky/try enough times till they find someone thats f**ked up in society.

Every guy knows that this is the truth. Especially considering women have friends to talk to. Why do you think the suicide rate in young men is higher than any other demographic?
melthornalJul 25, 2010
Suicide rate in young men ISN'T higher than any other demographic. Highest suicide rates are among middle aged and elderly men. Ages 50+, roughly.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

In Australia the suicide rate is highest in men between the ages of around 15-30
melthornalJul 25, 2010
Actually, thats not true. 27% of suicides are made by people between ages 50 and 65 in Australia. More than any other group. Second highest rates are 30-39 with 25% and then 20-29 with 24%. Only 6% of suicides are under age 20. Men ages 25-44 account for roughly 40% of suicides in Australia.
ryan121Jul 25, 2010
It's not because guys dont have friends to talk to it's because guys just generally won't talk about how they feel because we're brought up to believe that's wrong and not what men do. Girls will seek help and talk about their problems and men won't.
Also when a woman talks about problems and also if they cry it actually relieves stress and makes them feel better. Crying or talking does not have a similar effect on men. Men need to be encouraged to speak out about issues they're having no matter how hard it may be for them to do it as it's tragic how many men are commitining suicide, especially young men.
Closed AccountJul 25, 2010
Crying doesn't actually help. The only thing it does is get you to think about and reflect upon your problems. But it can cause you to dwell upon them and get into a spiral of depression. It's the same with anger, hitting a boxing bag or playing violent games only makes anger worse.
hexrrAug 6, 2010
Men are more likely to use methods that work... and men's lack of social support stems from societal stereotypes that men shouldn't be emotional. Which is mostly perpetrated by men themselves. So women aren't really to blame there.
amadeus2490Jul 25, 2010
Men are the one who're hard-working, romantic, have the sense of humor and keep the relationship going. Women are the ones who're all like "Bah bah bah you don't think i'm pretty enough! You're stupid and you deserve for me to make you feel like s**t! I remembered one little thing you said two months ago and i'm mentioning it to you NOW! I'll never really be happy no matter what you do!!"
That's why men live vicariously through porn actors; on-screen, their masculinity is fully acknowledged, supported and accepted . . .into all holes.

@Spacejack Being a woman entails more than just physical maturity. It's also about mental maturity. Unless you act your age, you're nothing more than little kid in an adult's body who didn't quite seem to make it to the next step.
spacejackJul 25, 2010
Wow, I can't help but notice that those qualifications depend entirely on the beholder. Other people are beholden to those concepts that you keep so nebulous that you can revoke them at will.
"Nothing more than a little kid in an adult's body."
Yes, I get it. You think that your characterizations are relevant to basic classifications. They are not. Your idea of who is an isn't mature matters exactly as much as my idea of who is and isn't mature, which matters exactly as much as Carrot Top's idea of who is and isn't mature, which matters as much as a barbed-wire knot's idea of who is and isn't mature.
Your attitudes about your woman's behavior don't change anything about the fact that she's a woman. She doesn't become something other than that because you don't like the way she behaves. Not a little girl, not a tree stump, not a beach umbrella. A woman.
The disturbing thing to me is how you want to maintain this idea that women are blameless and "mature", to the degree that if they don't qualify as that, they don't qualify as women at all. This basically is a way of saying "women can't be bad people."Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
belldanimeJul 25, 2010
@Spacejack I think you're missing my point. This applies to men as well, not just women.
There are behaviors that are generally associated with either an adult or a juvenile. Selfishness, arrogance, and being an overall whiny bitch are considered childlike behaviors and generally get you the "Grow up, already" response from others.
Signs of maturity are, among other things, being responsible, reliable, and being considerate to others.
As long as you still act like a kid, no one will take you seriously as an adult.
I in no way mean to say that all kids are little pricks, of course. Just that selfish and immature behaviors are more associated with juveniles because they don't really know the rules of society yet.

That and this girl sounds like an absolute douchenozzle ****rag. Remember that not all girls are like this girl. From experience they usually are more manipulative, but it's not always for malicious purposes.

IMHO, you won't be complaining about not getting girls if you get rid of the negative personality. You won't find the perfect girl right away, but if people don't like being around you, then you will lose opportunities to find a great girl. At the end of the day, like attracts like...Choose your own values and seek them out in your partner.

Better cure: Understand that romantic love is a chemical addiction in your brain. Know that it will not last when going into a relationship. If your lover can also be your friend then it can work longterm. However; at any time, he/she/itcould decide to end the relationship. Above all else: Don't panic. Enjoy your time while you have it. There is no "one person for everyone." There's probably always a better match for you but if you're happy does it really matter?

Call her out on that s**t. I know it's a lot easier to not have to argue a point that seems like common sense, but if you stand your ground eventually she'll realize that behavior isn't acceptable.
Or maybe she knows your track record well enough to predict your follow through ability and is at some level justified in getting pissed (in an illogical way). If that's the case, start taking initiative along with not putting up with her giving you s**t.
In the end I think women want someone they can depend on to follow through and take initiative in life. Many men I know (and see as a blatantly overused as a stereotype on sitcoms) fall back on the man/child behavior where the woman is more of a mother than anything else.

asus3000Jul 25, 2010
The study has it all wrong. The reason men suffer so much is because for the last 50 years men have had to give up so much. Naturally men have testosterone, and that means we can fight. Nope, not any more, not allowed. It means we can earn more. Nope, not any more, not allowed. There was a time just 60 years ago when "keep away from run around Sue" was popular on the charts. Now millions of women are on the web porking total stranger for money. Men are still expected to be chivalrous. Women hold the pussy power and men traditionally held the money power, it was a balance of power. Nope, not any more, not allowed. Women hold ALL the power now. Go to court, women win. They'll take the house, the kids, every f**king thing...

Um, what? Since when are you "not allowed" to make more money, and since when was it testosterone that allowed you to do so in the 1st place?
And why oughtn't you be polite to people collectively just because SOME women (not a majority by any means) do porn for money? What the f**k is that about, anyway? You look up the porn and then deride the people in it? Hint: If you don't think they should be doing porn, DON'T BE THE MARKET FOR IT.

As for my statement that men are not allowed to earn more than women. Look it up, it's true. It's called "equality." Women have battled for a century to earn the same amount, when in fact they do much less. Men have built this entire world. We've engineered every single building, every bridge, every house, everything. Women are earning the same for much less risk, and much less work.
Emily, the entire face of womanhood has changed for men. I'm not in the market for obese women either. Do you realize how in demand normal women have become? With millions of Americans posted on the internet doing porn (both male and female), the market has simply turned wretched. I suppose it's true for both genders. At least with men, who have more testosterone, spreading the seed is expected. Women traditionally were expected to withhold from this sort of behavior.

I'll go out on a limb and defend asus here. I think what he is saying is that due to the changes in our society men no longer have socially acceptable outlets for their natural urges. Virtually everything we are hard-wired to do is now socially unacceptable, and he has a valid point. I sometimes wonder what women would have us be if they actually were able to mold us into what they really want, and I suspect very little of our natural behaviors would remain. It sometimes seems like women want to be with other women, but with penises.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for equality of the sexes, and as such married an educated, intelligent, and driven woman. But I want to change her nature far less than I suspect she would like to change mine.
So ladies, please chime in. How are men supposed to express the effects of testosterone in an approved way in our modern world?
smemilyJul 25, 2010
I'd argue that there are many options like kickboxing at the gym, motocross, and even watching televised sports.
I really don't understand his argument at all, actually, as he's comparing current society not to caveman days, but to the 1950s-1960s - when men were more buttoned up, and had fewer outlets for testosterone - unless you count rape and spousal abuse as positives?
If anything, the internet has given you more outlets, sex-wise, (even if like asus you enjoy them primarily because someone is being degraded, yes I realize not all porn is like this but he mentioned this kind specifically) and there are more gyms and activities available for one to work out a need for aggression.
Hell, video games. I believe we've talked on Digg many times about how for many men, video games fulfill a need for - not violence, I guess, but - dominance, over another person. That's one way to express a need to dominate someone else in a safe, inexpensive, and relatively socially acceptable form, and it wasn't available 50 years ago.
Also in the 1950s-1960s it was socially unacceptable for a man to really spend time with, and be emotionally invested in, his offspring. Maybe you could toss a baseball together, but the 1950s are notorious for a sort of isolation from one's dad, a complete lack of relationship. That has changed, and I'm pretty sure it's good for men and boys. Don't most men have a desire for a relationship with their son(s)? Don't boys benefit from having a dad who's physically and emotionally available?
pcghostJul 25, 2010
You make sound arguements for outlets, though kickboxing is not normally encouraged by one's spouse in my experience. But I see your point here.
I wasn't supporting him in the need for degradation in porn or in relationships, just in the frustration of one gender's unending need to emasculate another. I think we go too far in the restrictions placed on young males which only serve to dampen their instincts. We have armies of idiots out there removing things like dodgeball from the schools and changing school sports into non-competitive events in grade school. While they are failing, there is also still a large movement against violence in video games as well.
I do not advocate going back to the old days as there is little good about them. Our society (speaking as an American here) was not something to be proud of in the 50's. We have improved in that we have taken the boot off of several minoritie's and women's necks. I simply believe we screwed up in the area of the male role in society.
I solved the problem of worrying about my mate ruining 18+ years of my life by simply not breeding. I don't need children and they tend to destroy happy marriages in my opinion. I do know many men who live like hobos because of the current child support system we have, and many of their X's use said system as a means of punishment. Hard to have sympathy when they chose to breed with those women, but it seems like a small epidemic, not to take away the shame of the dead-beat-dads out there.
I can't speak to the instincts of fathers regarding their offspring, as I'm not a parent. It is not rare in other mammals for the father to have nothing to do with their offspring though.
smemilyJul 25, 2010
Your point RE: removing sports from schools is a good one. They provide much more than just a testosterone outlet, such as physical activity, camaraderie, etc. I agree with you that competition is good even if it means that one side loses. Humans thrive when challenged, and we seem to need challenges in our lives to feel happy and satisfied.
I disagree that kids ruin good relationships - in my experience they act as exponents on a relationship's equation, magnifying any problem that was already there. If there was already a problem with one partner being a miser, and the other overspending - it's exacerbated. If there was a problem with one partner spending too much time with friends, and the other being a homebody - it's tenfold. If there was a problem with maturity in one or both partners, it becomes much more obvious than it was before.
spacejackJul 25, 2010
@pcghost:
"I wasn't supporting him in the need for degradation in porn or in relationships"
The guy didn't say anything about needing degradation in porn. He mentioned the song "Keep Away from Runaround Sue" and then contrasted it with the contemporary ubiquity of porn, which "smemily" then responded to by saying that he must be the market for it. She then reported this to you as though it were fact, and you responded to her as though it was.
I urge you to avoid responding to libelous statements on their own terms, as it does nothing but reinforce those terms.
asus3000Jul 26, 2010
@Spacejack, that's a woman. Case in point.
I imagine back in the days of hunting and gathering, women sat around the camp devising ways of out maneuvering one another for the best alpha tribesman, most food, and things for their offspring. It explains why women love soap operas. Women have a power to twist reality, create drama, and when you're not looking spring the dagger. Man's power, as pcghost explained so well, has been removed by the courts. Naturally we have physical power, which tamed women. Nature is the great equalizer. No matter what prairie you're on, both predator and grazer coexist. There was once a balance of power among humans, but it has long been taken away in the name of "equality", ironically.
Porn, it's another power for women. Not only are they paid better for it, but men are entranced. But more importantly the landscape has changed. When women were more wholesome and innocent just 30 years ago, before widespread pornography, men had what they coveted. Now our choices are increasingly more limited to obese, filthy minded, promiscuous, and older women. Men now worry from day to day what is going through the mind of their all-powerful mates. Will today be the day she leaves me to experiment in Jamaica? Is she younger than you and good looking? Yes it is that day.

Forget the testosterone and the fighting. Assault is a criminal offense last time I checked, but we won't go there . . .
The article says men need more support (read: according to asus3000 men need to earn more money than women to keep their self-esteems intact). I think men should get the love and support they need to be happy and successful. But please, men have to earn more otherwise their not "man enough"? Or it's a man's place to earn more? Men are men because they have Y chromosomes. Men shouldn't let their paychecks define them.
hexrrAug 6, 2010
Are you serious? What a load of crap. Yes most things (not everything) has been to the advantage of women because men had 95% of the advantages to begin with. And I'm sorry if you feel our society is too civilized, and you can't just assault people at your leisure. Perhaps there's a nomadic tribe in Africa where you can exercise these "privileges" you seem to think you deserve. They might let you be a man whore rapist there too since they're still a little behind us with civil rights too. Women don't hold all of the power, there's (more of) a power balance now, and definitely wasn't before. The only difference is that money and sex are (more) equal now. If you don't believe me, look at history. If you can't see it then quite frankly, you're retarded.
babywookieJul 25, 2010
This is what we get for giving them equality and s**t. Things were a whole lot better back in the old days, when all women were bought and sold like the whores that they are, kept in their place and knew to keep their mouths shut or else.
asus3000Jul 25, 2010
Equality is what we had. Nature equalized everything. What we have now is a total imbalance of power. Before women had pussy and it's always what men want. Men had money and it's what women wanted because they weren't able to earn it.
Simply, now women have what men want and already have what men have... Equality is long gone.
pcghostJul 25, 2010
Actually that is equality, we just happen to lack anything that makes women as crazy as the attraction to their bodies makes us. We got the short end of the stick in that regard. It is the poisonous side of testosterone.
ncg8rJul 25, 2010
And they are finding out that holding all of the cards SUCKS. It's a pain in the ass and a giant, 24-hour responsibility they were largely unaware of for decades (barring single mothers, which used to be considered a MAJOR HARDSHIP). Now they are calling the shots and resent the responsibilities that go with the use of power. They want their cake, to eat it too, AND to not gain any weight over it. And they're right pissed that they're not getting this handed to them like everything else has been over the past few decades.

I am still jaded and cannot fathom how one falls out of love.
It really sucks for me because I can't get a boner with random bitches. I learned the hard way...I need to be in love.
I was suicidal for a good 8 months immediately after. My salvation was that my parents are retired and needed a lot of house work done. painting/gardening/general maintenance -- I would do anything for my folks. This also reminded me of what a douche move killing myself would be to everyone that loved me.
I troops on though, wondering why loving her was rewarded with such dark feelings. Stupidly I imagine that I can find love again. I just hope my parents live long enough to need me around the next time my heart is shattered.

Nope. Wrong there bud. Separated/Divorced for 1 year this August. Going to be 42 that same month. So yeah, do the math. i was moving out of my 17 year relationship and 12 year marriage on my birthday. We'd had a baby that was just under 2 at the time and had just come back from vacation in Cancun the month before.
And yeah, it hurts like hell. Even a year later., In fact, it's much worse now because although i really don't want to be, since I KNOW logic-wise it serves no productive or healthy purpose, I am angry and bitter as hell. I'm balls deep in debt from the divorce, i hardly see my baby and the ex- just keeps going to child support to raise the amount that i already can't afford to pay every time we communicate and she doesn't get her way.
Reason for divorce? Workplace affair. Yet she insists on acting like the wronged victim in all of this. She called about a month ago wanting to remain on good terms and I told her fat chance. So she ran to the child support again and i had to fill out an earnings report again. 3rd one this year. I just feel like i'm on some nightmare ride that will never end.
asus3000Jul 25, 2010
@whomod: Sorry to hear that.. It goes to show how unequal things have become. The policy of our wonderful government has been to make the courts favor the women while simultaneously making the men impotent. If you're a white man, you know, the one's who built this whole f**king place, you're going to be dragged down and walked all over by every single jealous group..
Incidentally, I bugged my ex-fiancee's computer with a key-logger in 2008. I was out of the country and she cheated on me. I have the whole affair confessed to one of her friends. Guess what day I caught her, my birthday also.. It really knocked the wind outta me too.. Better to find out before we got married.

Six billion? That sounds like a lot, but half of those are men. Two thirds of the women are either too old or too young to be potential mates. Subtract all the ones that you are just not attracted to and you have maybe a few hundred million datable women spread across the face of the world. How many of those will be in your neck of the woods? About 70,000. Yeah, still a lot.

But yeah, I got dumped after a 3 year relationship and was depressed for a year. Meanwhile she didn't seem to give a f**k and dated some bouncer. I read everything I could about dating and turned my life around.
I got 5 dates just from walking up to women and saying "hi" and got a "sex friend" for a few months, and then found a woman I could date. We got married, and now I have a kid and we've been married for 3 years now.
My ex, on the hand hand, got dumped quickly and is still single (ah facebook, so great for stalking exs).

dugg for "It really sucks for me because I can't get a boner with random bitches. I learned the hard way...I need to be in love."
yourekinkyJul 25, 2010
This is the most depressing thread. Yes, I'm only 20, but I've gone through this entire long-term-relationship breakup, and it tore me apart so bad that I had to be put on a mood stabilizer, but I carried on. I found that once the relationship was over, I started to actually make progress with my life. I was stagnant throughout the entire thing, making the woman my only priority, the only thing that made me truly happy throughout the entire relationship. I became reliant on her, and once she left I had nothing.
The thing is, you can't rely on women and devote so much of yourself to them. You have to put yourself and your life, your ambitions ahead of them. You have to love yourself more than you love your significant other. You have to life your life and not fail subject to being so dependent on them that once they're gone you have nothing. It might sound selfish, but it's necessary to keep yourself happy and prevent heartbreak. A lot of people fall out of serious relationships feeling like they'll never fall in love again because that person was so perfect to them, but it failed for whatever reason. Love usually turns to dependence, and it's not real love- it's clinginess and reliance. You have to love yourself, and make yourself happy, and have love for another on the side. Don't let the past hold you back in life. Move on, and make progress.
thegreatone2009Jul 25, 2010
^^^^^^this statement needs to be sent to every guy in college/university around the globe. Focus on your dreams and goals, and if the chick really does like and understand you, she'll let you pursue them....sadly there isn't many like that in this world. Chin-up guys the world isn't ending anytime soon so just enjoy life and let whoever may come into your life enrich it instead of hindering it. But for now, its M.O.C......Money Over Chicks :D
russkiguyJul 25, 2010
"I was stagnant throughout the entire thing, making the woman my only priority"
There's your problem right there. There's nothing wrong with making your significant other the priority, but you have to remember that they're attracted to the you they met, with your own goals and aspirations, morals and standards, experience and outlook. For the sake of keeping the relationship going, stay true to yourself and try to strike a balance between who you want to be for her and for yourself. If it's too difficult, then maybe you're with the wrong person.
E.g.: I may reluctantly tag along to a Twilight movie, because somehow she's a fan, but I would draw the line at reading the books and instead spend the time furthering my education.
0a0563Jul 25, 2010
