Clampers are the scum of the earth. Never even if I was richer than the Qatari royal family would I pay someone else to remove a piece of metal from my car that he put there himself.
When you are driving a car to London or any town on the British Isles always bring an angle grinder and an inverter or generator because these opportunistic scumbags are everywhere. You mean where they are big signs saying 'you will be clampled'. If you cant see them or pay no attention you deserve to be clamped for being stupid.

I used to work in this building that had a Noodles and Chipotle and a tiny parking lot. The theater right next door had big signs every ten feet saying that "If you park here, we will boot you". Idiots still parked there every day during the lunch rush. The theater had a camera pointing at the parking lot and booted every single person for a $100 charge. I think the theater made more money off the boot than they did off their performances.

Easiest way to prevent being booted: Don't park illegally.
I have no sympathy for people who think they are above the law just because they have a nice car, or a couple dollars to their name.

They parked illegally because they own the building, it's not like they just pulled up to a random Harrods and jumped out.
If I spend 1.5 Billion pounds for a store, I'd park on the sidewalk if I felt like it.

No matter how much you paid for the building, the public sidewalk isn't included.
But as you said, they were parked illegally so it doesn't matter what you think should or shouldn't be.

I think I would park a low flatbed trailer out there with a ramp that I could drive the car onto. Then let them boot the trailer and leave it there all the time, parking the cars on top when I was in town.
