freepress.net — For the past two months I have been tracking journalist arrests at Occupy protests around the country. Today, Nov. 15, was the worst day yet in terms of police suppression of the press. It all began in the middle of the night, when police moved in at 1 a.m. to forcibly evacuate Zuccotti Park, the original Occupy Wall Street encampment. Not long after the park raid began, journalists on Twitter began to report that they were being blocked from covering the police actions.

"Almost exactly three years ago at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., more than 50 journalists were arrested, including Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman and two of the show’s producers, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar."
Oh, America....

The Media Black Out ordered the day of the arrests was like something out of Libya under Gaddafi. They Blacked Out Denver too. This should be illegal and I am sure it is unconstitutional....
I also note that just the Friday before, FEMA and Homeland Security did their nationwide "testing" to cut all systems and break all signals to "announce" their "test.
Wonder how much that was a "test" for the Media Black Out as well.

Rights like Freedom of Press are some of the basic requirements our Founding Fathers based our ENTIRE legal and political systems on. These rights are being endangered and flat-out violated by denying access to Occupy events to witness the police brutality going on in the police state we are being subjected to. Raise your voice and concern and defend the rights we are entitled to by spreading the word with these free posters I designed on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/11/propaganda-for-occupy-movement.html

The media reaches more people than protests anyway. It's a smart move.

i think you may be inferring an opinion on to jamesrparsons that he did not state. he simply made a statement of fact. if you were in command of those officers and didn't want their activities so closely scrutinized what would you do? he didn't say he thought it was right to do. he may or may not feel that way.
