If he can do the job and prove it, he's got a case.
And I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but a person with no hearing would not be a 911 operator answering the phone. A person with no sight would not be a limousine driver, either.

Give the guy a hand!
But seriously:
"It is important to me to provide you with resolution." She offered Pierre an interview at another Starbucks store, but Pierre declined and is now boycotting their stores.
Looks like he wants money.

ba-da-dum!
assassyn360Feb 18, 2012
Exactly, an attempt to cure the situation was provided and he blew it away as if he was insulted further. Money was the intent without a doubt.

Lets role play the court case.
plaintiff - Your honour i was Discriminated because of X reason
Defendant - Your honour we suggest an equal alternative as the original role was not suitable for him.
plaintiff - But... but... but... ITS BECAUSE IM DISABLED.
Judge - No your lazy.
bestatitFeb 17, 2012
really America... 7 figures????? smh!!! the s**t we sue for is crazy!!!
thrillki1lFeb 17, 2012
But with these massive companies suing them for big bucks is the only way to get their attention.
unclefireFeb 17, 2012
Yeah, really. WTF? 7 figures? Loss of income? How in the hell he can sue for loss of income?
Emotional distress. lol. I can't tell you how many times in my career I've had "emotional distress" - from either not getting a job I applied for or in one I was actually working at.
Don't get me wrong-- the Starbucks employees in this case were flat out d**k-h**ds. They should have said, ok, perform the tasks and hire based on him being able to do the job. FFS, he was gonna be a barista. It ain't brain surgery.

"I am fully capable of running circles around most people who have two hands in the service industry."
Probably because running is done with your legs.
digitaldeadstarFeb 17, 2012
He should have taken the second interview. If there were issues with that, then I could possibly see reason for suing. He absolutely seems greedy in this particular case. And I'm sure his lawyer backing him and saying "Go for seven figures!" isn't exactly helping.
That being said, I work with a guy who has one arm. And quite frankly I see him doing a lot of "2 handed" jobs. A LOT. Generally people who are born with these types of disabilities learn to adapt and are capable of doing plenty of jobs that require two hands. If this interviewer was interested in giving him a fair shot, they could have easily done a trial period. A lot of employers have a probationary period when one first starts.
brucealmightyFeb 18, 2012
Did he ever consider that maybe his arm was less of a disability than his attitude?
spc4Feb 17, 2012
The guys a cry-baby.
dryercomboFeb 18, 2012
I had to deal with this jackass when he worked at Best Buy years ago in Green Bay, WI he was a scammer then and he looks to be continuing the tradition.
(Wouldn't be surprised if I was sued for this post)

Golly Gee, you really don't like him!
blydchyldFeb 21, 2012
So he has a history, multiple cases of theft and fiscal fraud (it is a crime in the uk).
I sure hope SB sees this and sends you a card with some credit.
momstrategistFeb 17, 2012
I'm so sorry to hear about the discrimination Eli, I love your power of will... Despite disability you're still striving to work and you're proving you can do things that a normal person can do and even more! I admire people like you!

It's too late though, they already hurt Pierre's feelings.
massivetatasFeb 18, 2012
Next he'll sue the Olympics for not making him a swimmer.
imran87hFeb 17, 2012
do u have any jobs news in uk?
blydchyldFeb 21, 2012
Why this is stupid.
$8.70/hr Ave Barista salary. - http://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Starbucks-Salaries-E2202.htm
7 figures, lets call it a easy $1 mill.
At a standard working year - 2080 hours gives you a gross of $18,096
Ave working life time is 50 years, this gives you $904,800.
So because the guy cant reach the syrup pump he expects to have a life's time salary plus ~$100,000 compensation.
I think there is a saying for this, 'Get f**king real'.

Discrimination is always there in working place in America. Jobs hiring is not treated fairly and squarely. Even what physical shape you are, there is always discrimination. America is a nation of Immigrants. There is ethnic tension never been reported. This country is not my dream of the future.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
