Reminds me of the Puna District on The Big Island of Hawaii before "Green Harvest." I was there and it was incredible - our own cash crop/economy.....

They voted not to legalize for profit would drop, oops

I read about this on Newsweek. Perhaps the biggest factor in why legalization didn't pass was coincidentally (or is that ironic?..must read Oatmeal again) because of the push back from the current crop of weed growers. I'm thinking by 2012 California will have gay marriage and legalized pot!

Well, that and the fact that you were just ignorant of the views of most of the voters.
I LOVE the fact that you are still SO delusional that you expect both to pass in 2012. So you can again be so butt hurt disappointed when at least one doesn't.

(stealing from brilliant man on basic cable). you know you will be? years after a social cause finally had it's breakthrough, people look back at those against it during that era where the cause was on the fringe of making that breakthrough and think "that was a real assh**e". You know what we now think of those on the wrong side of civil rights in the 50's and 60's, well the same is going to happen to those on the wrong side of the gay rights debate.

I was fearing something like this would happen. All the damn hippies are more like Hippie-crates. Since the medical marijuana legalization people have been making huge amounts of money growing it and then selling it to people other than the patients it was originally destined for. Legalizing it would allow law abiding citizens the ability to start up their own businesses, forget that every goddamn pot smoker that doesn't live in Cali and probably doesn't want to move there was hoping Cali would become a test bed for not only the complete decriminalization of the plant, but also for the state vs federal legal battles that would happen soon shortly after.
But these former hippies are just worried about their bottom line, not other people's freedoms and certainly not the freedoms of the people who end up smoking their product. After reading this I really won't feel bad about when these assh**es get busted by the Federal authorities. These Cali growers who voted against legalization can go eat a entire bag of dick. Hopefully in the future once Marijuana has become legal, these people will end up loosing their houses when they can't pay the mortgage once the price of weed drops to a reasonable price.
Do you really think that the gangsters of the 1920s and 1930s wanted prohibition of alcohol to end? If your talking about only 5 of 300 families in a community that early a living growing small amounts of weed, these people don't want it legalized anymore than the big pharmaceutical companies want it. These growers are part of the problem with getting Marijuana legalized not part of the solution.

Sorry...calling bulls**t on this article's set up. It just smacks of typical allegory and no common sense. NO realtor will risk the drama that would come from having a home buyer report that realtor for its recommendation that htey use property for illegal purposes.
