Global value of illegal drugs: 321 billion...
...if those drugs were regulated/need to see doctor for a prescription the value would drop to 3 billions... probably less... because Mary grows fast and easy... but ain't patentable such a pity.
I understand where you're coming from, but I had to bury you. The government doesn't belong telling anyone you can't grow a NATURAL f**king plant that has been here for much longer than these pathetic politicians have. It's a shame that the citizens of America stand around idle while the government has free reign over everything.
Maybe one day people will wake up, but it might be too late by then.
Had to dig you down. You can brew beer and distil alcohol now for your own use. This should be the same way for growing pot for your own use. However, if you begin selling it you should pay your sales and income taxes what ever they may be.
Secondly, anything and everything you can buy at a store can be made. So
Only reason I said Tax it and make money off of it, is because people will buy it and we need all the help we can get with this national debt. Not saying this will fix it, but it could help a small margin.
Actually more than a small margin. Just the savings in prison space will make a pretty big difference. Add tax, reduction in police force, closing the DEA (mostly) etc. just adds more.
So when are the going to start locking up all the doctors who are over-prescribing pain killers, anti-depressants, ADD drugs, etc.? Prescription drug abuse is a HUGE problem and yet no one talks about it.
Tens of thousands of deaths have occurred due to the proliferation of illegal US guns being used by Mexican drug cartels.
Also the US is orchestrating the drug cultivation and transportation of heroine from Afghanistan into Eastern Europe. It is producing hundreds of millions of dollars for the criminal offshore mega-BANKS.
What is this genius plan of yours to "destroy cartels" that even the most powerful governments haven't thought of? Don't hold back now, let us all in on the big secret.
And there I thought you were going to say something silly like "reduce the demand for their product". Nope, you went there. See, the problem with your plan, or at least one of them is they aren't centralized. They have no standing army. There is nothing to attack. Go after them in Bolivia and they run to Peru, catch up with them in Peru and they run to some other place. It's like squeezing a balloon. They are everything and they are everywhere and every single time you claim a victory there is some one to take their place. And while I admire your confidence in our military and I understand that you may have a hard time seeing logic in all this but it really comes down to numbers. Not emotions.
The US government ships drugs through Mexico via the Coast Guard, ATF, Border Patrol, and Military by plane and boat. Mexican drug cartels that agree to launder their money through criminal US Banks such as Wells Fargo ( recently caught laundering $376 BILLION ) are sold high powered weapons in order to eliminate competitor drug gangs. That helps KEEP drug prices HIGHER so the criminals behind the US drug dealing can make more money.
Why we're LOSING the war on DRUGS?? It is because the US is the KING DADDY WORLD drug dealer!! Since prohibition ended, (and the alcohol revenue ended) the US government has built a DRUG empire.
Weeee.... we urgently need more money, more men, more prisons... these druggies need to be stopped :)
the drug war is not working, nor has it worked anytime in the past, and the future holds the same result... except more people will be treated like criminals for things that aren't and cannot be a crime.
We're losing because we aren't willing to comitt to the atrocities and civil liberty violations it would take to win. Which is the second of two reasons why we shouldn't have made it illegal (the first being the Constitution grants Congress no authority to do it in the first place).

The drugs don't even fight back...
biofriendlyblogFeb 6, 2012
Wow, the number of people incarcerated for drug offenses increased over 1000% percent in a 26 year period? Not good.
captswuitsFeb 7, 2012
And they wonder why our prisons/jails are full? I can see why for some drugs, but not all drugs.
wjappeFeb 6, 2012
Did anyone really expect to "win" it?
It's a disaster from start to (I hope) finish.

What a waste.

Same reason they lost the war on Alcohol in the 1920-1933, people want it, they will get it. Best thing to do is tax and make money off of it instead.

We're losing because we're not really fighting it.
Destroy the cartels and those numbers would drop significantly. The question is how determined and how far the government is willing to go.

The same plan we use against weak countries with a lot of oil.

Why? Because the illegal drugs work.

Maybe, with the "I helped fund international terrorism", we should make "I helped fund the drug war" tshirts, anyone care to buy? :)
