(Sergio) said '...that though he can't vote in the United States, he can make an even more directly impact policy through working for lawmakers: "I was actually advising the member on how to vote on certain things by collecting information, by analyzing bills, by doing things that other people are not able to do."'
So...California politicians are okay with illegals attending college on the taxpayer's dime- while crafting policy that benefits illegals (as long as they get the illegals' votes) in a state with an $11 billion deficit.
Don't call Washington when all that backfires on you, folks.

I am not to impressed with what they did to long beach, they used to have beautiful streets now they look like maggots chewed them up and that is a fact sorry if you don't like it diggnation but then again diggnation goes with what is popular not the truth
nightofwadeAug 10, 2011
To attend college in the U.S you'd have to at least have a student visa, that wouldn't make "Sergio" an illegal immigrant.
norman619Aug 10, 2011
Thank you.
hasahugedigAug 10, 2011
There's no mention of any VISA in the article, and once the VISA expires you're "illegal" if you're still in the country. Also illegals can attend California colleges. You don't need a VISA to attend US colleges. Many illegals even get in state tuition fees...ever heard of an AB540?
hasahugedigAug 10, 2011
point is, public colleges don't give a s**t if you're illegal, or about your education, they just want the money!
cantstopwontstopAug 10, 2011
immigrants don't give a s**t that they're destroying the fabric of a country that has more people than jobs. they just want your money and don't care if citizens are offset by it. they give less of a damn about americans welfare, than americans give about their welfare.
we've immigrated more legal immigrants alone in the last ten years, than the unemployment rate. that fact alone says a lot toward why americans are having to rely more on social programs. so even despite outsourcing, even despite the bubbles, even despite the wars, if immigration was halted for the past decade, we wouldn't have had a job crisis. and other crisis's could have been reduced greatly by simply having a strong economy that would result from such a measure.
the problem isn't immigration alone, it's the volume of immigration.

Seriously, when you want to prove a point as ludicrous as that one, at least shoot for proper grammar and spelling. Otherwise, you just look like a bored 15-year-old tr...oh, wait.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Why hire an american when you can find what you need on the corner wearing a cowboy hat and snake skin boots with matching belt buckle
ridgerunner5Aug 10, 2011
I once saw a Mexican guy come into my store wearing a full cowboy tux, boots, slacks, shirt and hat, all in bright white. And I'll admit, he pulled it off damn well, better than anybody else I think could have.

I'm an illegal immigrant studying for a Masters of Science in Accounting. In two years I will prove everyone who stereotypes us as lazy/beaneating/funnyhat people that we can be as productive as any successful american. The issue of immigration needs to be fixed and I find the presidents plan the best. A crack down of criminal illegal immigrants who come here to do harm, a way to stop people from coming illegally from the border, and a pathway to legalization for people like me and this student. Otherwise, if the issue stays in deadlock, we will grow tired and America will only keep the real criminals. Remember, people think at the margin, and we are people too, even when others see us as different.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

The problem is people like you cut in line of those who are trying to follow the law and come here illegally. For that I think you should be deported, or otherwise moved to the end of any immigration reform line.
erik1421Aug 10, 2011
I didn't cut in line, I was brought here when I was 10 years old. I did not have an option. I knew I was an "illegal," but it never hit me until the age of 18, when I was applying to colleges/getting a drivers license. It was too late, if I decide to go back to my country, I will get a non refutable 10 year ban from this country, something that its not rational, nor beneficial for me. I'll probably leave as you say, but not right now. I need to finish my degree.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Well your situation, as well as the related issue of anchor babies, is a touch issue to resolve. It seems that we cannot support children who came here innocently without rewarding their parents for breaking the law.
vurdillacAug 10, 2011
My parents made a lot of bad decisions that have negatively affected me. For instance, I was born in and raised in Texas, but my parents moved us to another state for the last couple years of my high school. I wanted to go to college in Texas, but their decision ruined my residency. So did that give me any justification to break the law? No. I moved back on my own at 18 and worked to legally re-establish my residency. They were supposed to have been saving for college, but turns out they hadn't saved a dime. Was I now justified in stealing what I needed because I'm otherwise a nice person and a hard worker? No.
Sorry your parents made such awful decisions. Sorry that it's now inconvenient for you. But if you cannot respect the laws of this country you have no right to be here. Go back to your country of origin - the trains/airplanes/coyote trails go in both directions. You are an adult now. Stop blaming your parents for your current illegal and selfish behavior. That's on you.
autokadAug 10, 2011
i dont care if you earned a PHD and invented blowjobs and bacon. There are many people who follow the rules and do the hard work to become legal. your pathetic excuse 'i didnt think about it' doesnt cut it with me. your breaking the law and should be deported, you arnt making any attempt to become legal.
adn6691Aug 10, 2011
Props to the kid. It takes balls to come out like that.
lincolnperki51Aug 10, 2011
What else does he have to lose, there aren't any jobs left in the US anyways. Might as well get an all expense paid trip back home.
ieatskunkAug 10, 2011
Ha, so these days it takes balls to come out anonymously?
devnulldoodAug 11, 2011
No, it would take balls to go home and comeback legally.
Its terrible that his parents did this to him.
