Exercise is good for you, but sometimes it is hard to get motivated. Extra brain energy is definitely good!

Maybe it's because you get extra oxygen when you exercise. My dogs keep me motivated to do uphill walking. It burns more calories in a shorter time.

Having two elderly parents with different states of dementia (from moderate to severe), I can only say that the chances are very likely that I'm in for a similar fate. Not only does Alzheimer's rob you of your memory, it changes your personality. In my father's case, it has changed a confident successful man into someone who is extremely fearful and paranoid. It is a real nightmare to deal with. So, what I'm most interested in is not necessarily in becoming smarter but not becoming dumber. That's a pretty powerful motivation for me to exercise.
