I agree with the quote, but not the context. College professors ascend to their positions by putting in a s**t load of work, research and paying dues by working their way up. My uncle-in-law (if that is even a recognized relationship) has a PhD, worked 15 years teaching entry level courses at a major university, was a recognized expert in his field and finally at the age of 40 got a professor position at a small school.
I had professors I hated, but I respected their acumen and work they put in just to pass the knowledge onto me
If you think for one minute they don't understand what they're teaching you, then you're the problem - the University of Phoenix and ITT Tech are just a mouse click away.

i paid colleges to pass on knowledge to me. If the professor wasn't a good teacher, i didn't care how much they knew or the dues they paid... they were there to pass on knowledge, and if they couldn't explain it, then they weren't worth the money i paid.

This is true enough, but at universities a professor's job priority is research. The publish or perish life-style. They get fired over note writing enough, not how well the students do (at least at research schools... it is important to note that not all colleges are research universities - but the big ones are. Why? Being a research university brings in money).
