Well would you look at that...perfectly sensible.
thanatos07Feb 23, 2012
Whoa, a Christian without a persecution-complex? Did the world just suddenly decide to start making sense?
murrayc1968Feb 24, 2012
In the UK, yeah, but in the US? MMMmmmnnnnnotsomuch (Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, I'm looking at you)

being kissed by the hand because you are a "chrisitan" is too unchrisitianlike, i'd say : no wonder he does not get the persecution portion of life, because he does not have God in his heart, only the idea of it is in his mind, but not his heart. i get persecution because i said: i believe in Jesus as the lord and savior, to some of those who have their own idea about what is a christian.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Wow! That is a whole new twist on the No True Scotsman, or in your case the No True Christian. He is not a true Christian like you, because he doesn't feel persecuted.
Never mind that nonsense about having an idea in his mind and not in his heart. Newsflash! All god ideas are in the mind.
The idea of the heart being the seat of the self or consciousness is primitive psychology that goes back to Egyptian physicians. The fact that idioms and metaphors about the heart being the source of complex emotions like love have hung on does not mean it's literally true. It a bloody pump!

persecution and trials, that is the purpose of life, to get strong, to be tried and to be found true in the end. but God is the judge of these circumstances that people go through, the persecution complex is what actually makes sense, if you are a christian at heart.
FesteringStumpFeb 24, 2012
That is one of the weirdest ideas in Christianity. While it is one thing to undergo trials and increase your strength for a task you wish to perform, the Christian idea is that you undergo these trials and are tested in order to enter a heaven where everything is perfect and good and just. In other words a place where you no longer need to be strong because there are no burdens, no work to be performed.
It is funny when Christians accuse atheists of not having any purpose.

peace, joy, fulfilment, at ease with one's self, no emptiness, not lost, loved, forgiven, given another chance, turning a new leaf, humble, bold, aware, alive, imperfect, human, knowing there is nothing wrong to be a human, human just like any other individual no matter who they are or where there from. common sense, understanding, rooms for self improvement, purpose, meaning, yearning, love heals right? knowing you are loved unconditionally will allow to give life a sense of foundation, not being lost in uncertainty.

Yet feeling persecuted and forced to undergo trials.
You can't seem to make up your mind.

The life of a person who believes in God ie a Christian, is pointed out by the teaching of Jesus, that the devil tries to get to you like a roaring lion out to devour, and the devil roams on the earth, so even if you try to deny there is a God, God can't deny if he exists or not, and God acknowledges there is a devil on this planet earth. if you try to deny the existence of the sun in this solar system, and say that it is a being that lives, would you be right? no.
how then can you prove that persecution through trial sand tribulation if it is real or not?
what i'm trying to say is, everyone, no matter what religious background they may come from, has their share of trials and tribulation, that is not easy, maybe you might have lived it already without knowing or realizing it,
you might recognize it as "life is hard" or what they sometimes call it "The real world is not a perfect world"; meaning we go through difficulties in life,
being rich in existence doesn't make the pain go away, it just makes it easier to live in a certain way, it just brings just another set of problems.
i'm almost sure you still haven't understood the way the bible is meant to be understood, your heart just has to understand it and it should make sense: it brings joy to learn new things out of the verses and chapters in the bible. the message in the bible is not easy but it makes sense. the meanings interconnect.
in a sense that your common sense understands.

This is pretty typical of conservative christians. They are masters at playing the victim card by using DARVO (deny attack, reverse victim/offender) whereby they try to avoid responsibility for their hatred, bigotry, and intolerance and try to cast the victims of it as the perpetrators against them. It's the same thing people who sexually harass women do.
murrayc1968Feb 24, 2012
"DARVO" I LIKE that! It's the religious equivalent of "RINO" (Republican In Name Only)

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Clearly applies to lying about being persecuted.

In a related story, the Archbishop of Westminster has been excommunicated by the Catholic church.
