I don't want no wagon. Call me a creature of the 80s, but I love hatchbacks.

I now own an '88 Volvo 240 sedan, but my first love was an '82 wagon in that flat Volvo blue. The sauce wagon was the slowest car on the road, but I felt like I was driving pure amazingness on that long stretch to 60. It could carry band equipment, furniture, and angry friends after having to pick them up when their mid-90s VW Golfs were breaking down. It was a car to make memories in. I've always loved the American wagons, and had a '91 Mercury Colony Park a neighbor was selling on my mind... if I weren't afraid of gas prices a few years ago, maybe it could have been my steed. The Buick Roadmaster? Vista Cruiser? Hell yeah.. all are timeless icons.
When I was growing up, my father drove one of those mid-80s F-150 Lariats that always looked like it wore a mean expression, and that was his work vehicle. As for people who went to white collar jobs, the idea of them owning a truck was preposterous, and still is. Maybe I was just unfortunate to be getting into cars right when the SUV scourge was beginning (and the Ford Expedition came on the market) and they just seemed like vehicles without a purpose. Gas was cheap so evidently that meant every suburban Sue and Steve had to purchase a vehicle that got 15mpg city. Seeing a small woman at the helm of a vehicle the size of a studio apartment is still straight dumb. "Cute-Utes" don't win me over, and "crossovers" are about the ugliest vehicles on four wheels. I guess I'm just a luddite when it comes to vehicle aesthetics.
