technologyreview.com— Transonic Combustion, a startup based in Camarillo, CA, has developed a fuel-injection system it says can improve the efficiency of gasoline engines by more than 50 percent. A test vehicle equipped with the technology gets 64 miles per gallon in highway driving, which is far better than more costly gas-electric hybrids, such as the Prius. — Submitted Mar 9, 2010
All 3 of you above me are very ignorant when it comes to ethanol.1) Ethanol doesnt have to come from corn, there are several crops that have a higher yield.2) We pay farmers, in this country, BILLIONS each year NOT TO GROW ANYTHING. These subsidies are basically in place to keep the price of food profitable for smaller family owned farms. We could simply give these people the option of growing for ethanol instead.3) I 100% agree that other renewable energy sources need to be developed for our transportation needs. The problem is that, even if a perfect new technology were developed today, the PEOPLE wouldnt be able to afford to run out and get these new cars.Ethanol lowers emissions, gets us off foreign oil, and creates thousands/millions of jobs RIGHT HERE IN THE US WHERE WE SO DESPERATELY NEED THEM.You people remind me of the miss America pageant. Where all of the girls say, if they won, they would work for world peace. Sure, it sounds nice, but its not quite that easy. Setting a more realistic goal, that is EASILY attainable, and has massive benefits for the entire country is a much sounder plan.

I wonder if this burns fast enough to make scramjet combustion more viable?
