Oaxaca is beautiful and has extraordinary architecture.

that and Sydney were the only ones I agreed with
thejetpackerAug 9, 2010
Confucius say, Man who walk through airport turnstile sideways going to Bangkok.
lichter86Aug 10, 2010
Anyone know how these were ranked?
ancientdinkoAug 10, 2010
by pedofiles?
everlong241Aug 10, 2010
"readers, who voted Bangkok back to the No. 1 spot" I'm guessing votes by their readers.
lichter86Aug 10, 2010
Probably an accurate guess, doesn't seem to be the best way to rate though...
bdbrAug 10, 2010
"Travel + Leisure readers pick the top cities around the globe in the annual World’s Best survey"
akchrsAug 10, 2010
numerically.
megadeth222Aug 10, 2010
This is stupid, if they were ranked by FREEDOM (as they should be) all the top 1,000 cities would be America.
persiyanAug 10, 2010
Where'd you get the notion that America is the only free nation. Fox pushing patriotism down your throat perhaps!?
megadeth222Aug 10, 2010
Ugh... I didn't think I needed the /s, apparently I was wrong...
persiyanAug 10, 2010
When you talk in a sarcastic way, you make expressions and hold a different tone while saying it. When you type sarcastically none of the above traslate over the text, so I can't comprehend why people always think they don't need the /s at the end...
megadeth222Aug 10, 2010
I thought it'd be pretty obvious with the statement that "all top 1,000 cities would be America" seeing as how America is not a city... and... well never mind its not as funny any more i guess you're right, I'll just start putting the /s at the end.
shadowmagicAug 10, 2010
as long as NYC made it, I'm okay with this list.
whipnetAug 10, 2010
Doesn't explain what makes a city the "Best". And is that even a picture of New York City?
*
throwdiniAug 10, 2010
Yes, that is a picture of Central Park. You can tell by the pond and baseball fields.

You can tell by the grass and the caption "New York City"
sonorguyAug 10, 2010
Right next to Belveder's Castle.
xcrionAug 10, 2010
My home city is the best: http://altusried.de
iparkerAug 10, 2010
Bangkok smells like a wet diaper. There should be detailed explanations as to why these cities made the list.
throwdiniAug 10, 2010
Just a basic readers' poll.
imsopovAug 10, 2010
True that, it smells like arse
bdbrAug 10, 2010
Its a shame that people think Bangkok is about cheap hookers, because it really is a great place to visit. To stand on the bank of a muddy river and see seven gold temples is sublime. The people are wonderful. You can travel well without having to break the bank. I've been to half of these cities, and it makes the top of my list as well.
dignan666Aug 10, 2010
It really isn't about only cheap hookers.
There are also expensive hookers.
tomleykisAug 10, 2010
It's about unstable political situation, in addition to cheap hooker.s
cyberdorkAug 10, 2010
How is the public transportation and traffic? That's the dealbreaker for me.

xenuxenutsAug 10, 2010
nope, actually it means scrotum.

Wtf?
http://www.mercer.com/qualityoflivingpr#City_Ranking_Tables
NOTE: the 1st american city is #31
asielenAug 10, 2010
Sounds about right.
throwdiniAug 10, 2010
One can assume, as this is Travel and leisure, that this is a place of cities to visit, not live.
hetmankpAug 10, 2010
Uh, you're confusing the Mercer Quality of Living list linked by the poster above you, with the Travel + Leisure and tourist list this thread was about.
ripersnifleAug 10, 2010
Dugg for Ottawa.
mirunitAug 10, 2010
It doesn't count American suburbs, and I would not really want to live in Zurich, for instance (how did that rank higher than Geneva?).
pabstbrenAug 10, 2010
Why is it so hard to believe that the USA isn't up there? I currently live in Vancouver and it's easily the best city I've ever lived in lifestyle wise/
slayerconmanAug 10, 2010
One night in Bangkok, and the world's your oyster.

poageboyAug 10, 2010
Man, they picked a really crappy picture for NYC...I'm sure there's a more appealing part of the city.
xcolonelAug 10, 2010
this list sucks
jcsocAug 10, 2010
Agreed
goron40Aug 10, 2010
Oh man! I love full page reloads slides!
bumfaceAug 10, 2010
Me too, but more pop ups would make it even better.
7king7kingAug 10, 2010
Best cities for what? Food? Nature Scene? What's the criteria for this list?
7king7kingAug 10, 2010
Again, can it be on one page instead of 10 clicks to see this list? it's waste of time and it's so slow.
prodigitalsonAug 10, 2010
And sacrifice all those ad views!? NEVER.
tomgfromcanadaAug 10, 2010

joculatorAug 10, 2010
Bangkok...? what was this list put together by pedophiles?
rhansell10Aug 10, 2010
How can you say any city is the best city in the world, without going to every city? There could be a city in Indonesia of 28 people, where 26 are hot chicks who %$@& you for a nickel. And the other 2 are dudes who give you nickels.
~ Greg Giraldo
wuggyboobeaufufAug 10, 2010
Bangkok is a horrible place.
And New York? Please.
Only good if you like getting beaten by police.
