Just don't lock your keys in.

Just don't lock your thumb in the car.
(the car starts by biometric fingerprint reader)

Only problem is if the person dies, you've got a corpse to deal with, especially if it's sitting in the sun for a while.
ophelloAug 25, 2010
Why in the hell would I want to warn the thief through the car audio so that they get the chance to park it and run away? Dumb feature. All the car needs is a GPS tracker so the cops can silently run the f**ker down without their knowledge.

I can track your mom too!

Car theft went up during the Bush administration. Just sayin'.

Cut off the fuel supply, remotely? I would leave my car unlocked just to have the chance to do that.

I am less concerned with my car being stolen than I am about the s**t inside being stolen. Still no way to protect against that.
friesandcokeAug 25, 2010
Stop leaving s**t inside your unlocked car?
frecklefootAug 25, 2010
Adding all these security features your car? Twice the cost of the vehicle alone.
iboxAug 25, 2010
would need to be a pretty high end car.
absorberAug 25, 2010
None of that is going to prevent anyone from disconnecting the battery and then loading your car onto a flatbed to take it away for disassembly.

those things typically have their own battery

And this second battery stops a flatbed by......................

From my movie thief knowledge:
1- Radio-Frequency Transmitter System
Put the car into a truck trailer that is made to block any signal going in and out.
2- SID (fingerprint)
Use a spray on the device to show the grease of the owner finger and press it with a plastic bag.
3- GPS Tracking system
Same as #1
4- GSM Car Alarm
Same as #1. Note that the owner might get the first message but the moment the car is in the truck he won't be able to do anything.
5- Ultrasonic Interior Monitoring System
Disactivated by #6
6 and 7-
I use a remote control signal receiver device to steal the signal from the owner remote control when he used it previously.
Easy peasy I just stole your car.

Fill the gas tank before the police find you please :)
nobodynpartAug 25, 2010
Welcome to staying with your car when you take it to the shop for maintenance. Also look forward to the day the battery is dead and you cannot open the door to reach the hood release. And be sure to never give the other remote to anyone prone to leaving a purse or coat with it inside the vehicle.
I am a bit confused as to why I want cell phone I can drive with undoubtedly another monthly cell plan I'd have to pay for. Same goes for pay radio but not related to article.
How many cars are recovered with no damage? Fewer than are recovered within 24 hours I'd wager.
lastdawnofmanAug 25, 2010
The most-stolen cars are well over 15 years old? Whaaa ... ?

I hate this new layout!
runner108Aug 26, 2010
One thing I've noticed, in addition to all the problems people are mentioning (and maybe you were referring to this), is that the wider comment system is harder to read. Shorter lines = more readability.

Is someone going to do an infographic about how bad the new digg is or what?
lancernencyAug 26, 2010
not bad idea.
aguynamedjoe36Aug 26, 2010
the ultimate theft proof car is a stick shift.
SatansAdvocateAug 26, 2010
In the US, probably. In the EU, it's actually preferred.
flashingcurserAug 26, 2010
Will they retrofit these ideas to a 1989 Camery?
axehindAug 26, 2010
The top 6 cars on the list of most stolen are all from the 1990's, and one is from 1989?
SatansAdvocateAug 26, 2010
Imagine trying to disarm that s**t. Or simply drive it...s**t'll prolly give security alerts all the time while you're on the road. It's only worth it if it can detect whether the bitch sitting next to me is "clean" or not.
jmferrisAug 26, 2010
If only all these security features were on the old Digg, it would not have been replaced by this abortion that I am being forced to use now. Dear Digg - two weeks to see the errors of your ways or I am tapping out. Not like you care, though.
ScottyTomaierAug 26, 2010
Nothing will ever be as safe and anti theft proof as the car in Naked Weapon! NUT GRABBER FTW

Aren't All radio Frequencies Silent?
4degreesAug 26, 2010
points 1,3, and 4 are all things for AFTER the car is stolen. these in no way make the car theft proof. they help _mitigate_ a theft.

Now I know a little somethin' about dem automobiles and from what I done seen, there aint nothin' one of the dagone 'grints can't break into 'cus they done learned all dat there is to know 'bout dem cars. Now from what I find, the only sure as fire way to protect your own automobile is to have a dog lashed onto the bumper. None of dem dagone immigrants are gonna go after a vehicle with not only locked doors but also a dog that'll bark and cut. We don't play games with our security. Y'all got guns?
