I wasn't aware Charles Bronson was also known as Chuck.......sounds like a friendly neighbor more than a one role actor/imaginary town in the Simpsons

10. Anywhere Involving a Motel 6
The guy who wrote this article obviously does not have a 4.5yo daughter and 3yo triplets and average 3.5 - 4 hours sleep a night. The wife and I are big fans of cheap 2 day getaways from the kids.
PS: Red Roof Inn is actually better.
beshirthappyAug 11, 2010
And hats off to you with 4 kids under the age of 5. Although, you may want to spend less time in the Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn getaways, if you know what I mean. ;-)
equinox2o12Aug 11, 2010
We didn't need them then. ;-)
drdragunAug 11, 2010
triplets damn, your wife got the spread gun from contra

If you have 4 kids you are well past "Stage 3" of dating. Just sayin'
bobdigiAug 11, 2010
Bringing 4 kids with you is not really a "romantic getaway".

The solution is camping.
fenririiiAug 11, 2010
If you ever plan to take a cruise make sure the person you are taking is someone you can stand to be cooped up in a small room with for days. With potential motion-sickness. Seriously, it could be Hell on the high-seas for days.
fragmitAug 11, 2010
If you stay in your room for days on a cruise though, you're doing it wrong.
Party on the Lido deck FTW.
supersonicjimAug 11, 2010
This certainly is targeted towards us using Digg.
irinotecanAug 11, 2010
What an awful list. Cruise ships because the rooms suck? Dude, you're doing it wrong if you spend *any* time in your room other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes. Cheap motels? Again, who the f**k spends any amount of time in their hotel room? Why aren't you out doing stuff and grateful that the room isn't costing you half your vacation budget expense??? National monuments because they're "boring"? Yeah, maybe if you're not into camping and hiking, but WTF are you doing there if you're not???
Buried.

Totally agree. I went on a cruise, bought a cheap room on a long cruise with lots of stops, and loaded my days up with excursions. Swam with dolphins, explored archaeological dig sites, toured local cuisine, rode horses, etc... The room is just where you sleep. Ditto for almost any trip I go on. Why spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a fancy hotel if I'm planning on spending as little time as possible there? And agree again about the national monuments. If you don't like to hike around and explore, don't go to wilderness attractions.
hokie47Aug 11, 2010
I can't agree more. This list sucks. National Monuments? Don't just go to the Grand Canyon, get your fat ass in shape and hike down that thing. "Somewhere To Learn Something New." I don't know about this guy but my wife and I love to learn while we are away. "Historic Sites" Yeah f**k learning me want to be dumb.
I do agree that Atlantic City and the some of the places on the list can suck.
random314Aug 11, 2010
Also, the learning something new part... If you know your partner well enough, it shouldn't be that bad. I went diving with my gf, it was her first time and she loved it, now she wants to get certified.
although, my ex gf did fell off a horse when we went horse riding for the first time. It didn't ruin our vacation or anything tho...
maxxellAug 11, 2010
@irinotecan: I agree with almost everything u said. Except one little detail...
"Dude, you're doing it wrong if you spend *any* time in your room other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes."
You missed out on the number one reason to go anywhere and do anything with your significant other. Unless you're doing it somewhere other than your room, I guess.
askantikAug 11, 2010
But hell, even if all you do is stand at the top of the Grand Canyon, I could do that s**t for hours on end. Grand Canyon = 10x more impressive (and less developed, for that matter) than Niagara Falls.
tapiocashineAug 11, 2010
Daily.likeme.net? Never heard of it. Where does a no-name, off-brand blogger like that get the balls to talk down to me about what kind of hotels I can afford? God knows his store-brand blog doesn't make him enough money to do better than motel 6 either.
"If you don’t have the ready cash to spring for better temporary digs than a Motel 6 then you don’t have the ready cash to take a trip. Simple as that, moneybags."
It's like he expects poor people to apologize for going on vacation.
urbanetruthAug 11, 2010
I would argue that Stage Two is the only important stage.

For more of The Holy Land Experience, please visit Bill Maher's Religulous
mmysamaAug 11, 2010
That documentary was a piece of crap. Blatantly biased and full or lies. You'd think that making fun of religion would be so easy he wouldn't have to resort to such low blows, but Bill Maher just is'nt fit for the job.
Honestly, Micheal Moore films are a LOT more factual.
anarcurtAug 11, 2010
This is going on my top ten worst internet list list.
serif69Aug 11, 2010
That sounds awful. I'd like to nominate your list for your list.
crgauthAug 11, 2010
Just another example showing that anyone can put their opinions (whoever lame) up for all to read. Sad part is some people take it as gospel.

Buried. This article is crap.
If those all suck, show us in the article some better ideas.
Some people share an interest in history or geography and that would be just there thing.
As far as the Motel Six thing goes - it might not be romantic, but it could be very hot in a dirty minded way.
jakobrowningAug 11, 2010
I have to disagree with #7. We went to the Grand Canyon, and regularly visit many National Park sites. Those are always the best trips we ever have. (PS they are her ideas and she does ALL the planning, so I know she's not just lying to make me feel good)
revarienAug 11, 2010
The best vacation that the gal and I went on was the diamond mine in Arkansas.... I know that sounds lame to a lot of people, but hell... we're a couple of nerds and digging in the dirt, learning the process and spending time together, only to go to a hotel room to spend more time together: it was a blast. We'll probably be going back multiple times.
mikeytooAug 11, 2010
What sort of cruise has this idiot been on anyway? I just got back from a cruise and it was FANTASTIC! The room was small, yes, but all you're really doing there is sleeping and grooming. The food was the best I've ever eaten. We were never "forced to share a dinner table" with anyone. In fact, all the people we met were very nice. As far as "needing a few moments of privacy" are concerned, the idea of a romantic getaway is to spend as much time as possible with someone special to you, not sneak off at any opportunity. The author stated in the opening paragraph: "You’re with that person full-time, 24/7, and there’s less that they can hide from you, purposefully or not." That works both ways, mate.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: You're doing it wrong.

I agree with you on the article sucking, but I think he meant that you have no excuses to give to the hypothetical annoying couple.

"Dude, you're doing it wrong if you spend *any* time in your room other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes."

sirbetaAug 11, 2010
I am at a loss in regard to how to respond to this list. Half of it is pure idiocy. Not going on cruises because of the cabin size? You're not there for the cabin. No historic sites? I guess not if you nor your date has any interest in learning about interesting things.
lnxfiAug 11, 2010
I actually really enjoy Atlantic City. It has the beach, beach bars, nightlife, shopping, etc... The person who wrote this make it sound like there's a war going on there two steps outside the casino. I've been going there for 10 years now and haven't had one incident there.
It's a strait shot from Philly for a nice mini vacation.
dervish108Aug 11, 2010
Going on a weekend trip to Vermont because one wants to move the relationship into Phase Two, and one lost money in the stock market due to a bad stock tip mysteriously absent from the list.
theworldisflatAug 11, 2010
This article is seriously flawed.

I'm sure not all of Haiti is destroyed. It's on an island. There's got to be some beautiful places still waiting for romantic getaway tourism dollars.
