I think he's saying, "Beat that, CGI."
Not so much, "[I don't think you can] beat that CGI."

Maybe this will answer your question.
In order to get the bubbles as amazingly perfect as that, you need the exact right amount humidity in the air in relation to the glycerine in the water. So great he shared this for free to the people.
alchemyvAug 25, 2010
Its like Bubble Nebulae
wiiebAug 25, 2010
It's magical! I love how the kids run after the bubbles to try and reach them :)

This is so awesome.. those kids must've had a time of their life!
isukeyoAug 26, 2010
He got lucky with the kids. There's a guy in Washington Square Park (NYC) that occasionally does this and it's ruined every time by the children in the park. He can never get any decent size bubbles because the kids surround him and pop the bubbles as soon as they are formed and sometimes before he can finish forming them. Whenever I see this and look around at the other adults without kids, you can see the annoyance on their faces; because, like me, they really would like to see some really nice, large bubbles like this guy was doing on the beach. And the bubble guy at the park clearly gets annoyed. Once one out of control kid knocked over his bucket of soap water and after he refilled it (he comes with several large water bottles filled with soap water), the mother of the annoying kid made no attempt to control him.

That's the front of Donnie Darko's car.
lmaozedongAug 26, 2010
Donnie Darko was the first thing I thought of while watching this too, especially the shots from the man's point of view.
Also dugg for music by Kevin MacLeod from incompetech, awesome royalty-free tunes there.
obesesnakeAug 25, 2010
Must have just the right wind conditions
discolandoAug 25, 2010
Watching those bubbles pop reminds me of a Klingon Bird of Prey enabling its cloaking device.
conwayAug 25, 2010
That is the nerdiest thing I have heard today.
discolandoAug 25, 2010
Why, thank you!

A first I thought this post might be related to Barney Stinson.. then I clicked it and got disappointed.
appleuprising45Aug 25, 2010
Idk where my mind is but at first I thought the title said "Giant Bubble Bitches".... I need to either lay off the porn or get tested for dyslexia...
mixmastabeefAug 25, 2010
stupid kids. leave the 40 ft bubbles alone
chaosprofessorAug 26, 2010
kids go apes**t over popping a bubble the size of a golfball, can you imageine popping a ginormous one like that;
on a secondary note firefox doesn't recognize apesthit but does recognize ginormous as a real word. lol

What is this crap? Why would you post this on a video about giant bubbles? What the hell is wrong with you?
tothebatcaveAug 26, 2010
So does the new Digg automatically post stories that are neat your location? Because I live on Stinson Beach and see this guy all the time, it was shocking to see my town on Digg.
Closed AccountAug 26, 2010
No, new Digg just posts random old crap from users with lots of followers.

Recorded with a great camera, too. The Canon 550D / T2i is (arguably) the best quality-to-value DSLR out right now.

Ugh. I was going to add a source to back up the claim, but the new comment timer expired.

It reminded me of CGI and I was amazed at the level of work that must go into CGI so that now we can't differentiate between CGI and reality.
iwda4Aug 26, 2010
Bubbles.
warpfieldAug 26, 2010
Almost there... just need to get the bubbles to float really high, and to trap kids inside them. :)
sdipaolaAug 26, 2010
It is not fake, been done for years, I had a kit that made ones big but not this big ( in the 80s). Mainly water, dish washing liquid (dawn is really good) and glycerin ( better surface tension). Conditions really effect things - best with a humid day. No good with a strong sun. And in this case a wind that is just right ( or you have to run) . Here is a website ( not mine) that is one of many on how to do it.

I went surfing at Stinson beach about a month ago, the water was a bit cold, but overall it was really fun. Plus I met this super cute girl who works at the surf shop there and she told me she liked my board shorts.
