Nice car, but the photography skills used in the pictures are uber awesome.

162mph on 2 Batteries! WTF
deafbeatJul 7, 2010Submitter
Huge batteries?!
iheartnyJul 7, 2010
It's not two batteries it's two battery packs. A battery pack is a set of any number of individual batteries.

Darn it! Whenever I see race cars I think of that dang Danica Patrick! Go away!!
rufiohoJul 7, 2010

eatingtheroadJul 7, 2010

Definitely a step in the green direction.

One day, they will be electric and we will be marveling over the new cars that run on water...
onlyscJul 7, 2010
i'll take one in red
nikolesmashJul 7, 2010
I could see James Bond in that.
weprinJul 7, 2010
Why did they use black and white photographs?
This is a car site, not an artsy photography gallery.
peppermintpigJul 7, 2010
Because it's ugly in color? :P
darkphenoxJul 7, 2010
I don't know cars are pretty much art, Top Gear wouldn't be as good with out "artsy" cinematography for their car reviews.
willrsJul 7, 2010
yea but on top gear they get a bunch of shots that actually show what the car looks like.
darkphenoxJul 7, 2010
Still I was responding to the second part of his comment where he essentially said that car sites should not be in any way artsy.
mkruseJul 7, 2010
I find this news...
*puts on sunglasses*
shocking.
boodiddlyoonJul 7, 2010
Would have been nice to see an actual full shot of the car
oo7evanJul 7, 2010
124 mile range. How long is the race? How do they "refuel"? Quick swap batteries?
Closed AccountJul 7, 2010
I was just thinking that. I would imagine that the batteries are swappable. Either that or spend an hour in the pit lane every 30 minutes. lol.
Closed AccountJul 7, 2010
uhh they do realize that its a 24 hour race right?
zaeboesJul 7, 2010
They're the smallest, most power to weight ratio vehicle there. They'll have plenty of lead to swap batteries out in the pits. Straight up, they have the clear advantage, but the Le Mans is just a proving ground to show the world how electric pit-stops will work.
willrsJul 7, 2010
it's a friendly race against classic race cars.
buzamanJul 7, 2010
Racing has always pushed the frontier of new technologies. I would imagine the car's weight and center of gravity can be distributed better than in a traditional car. Will they be quick swapping the batter packs?
zaeboesJul 7, 2010
Yes, it's swapped packs. They use Li-ion batteries in the article and the race is 24 hours. They can't afford to charge in the pits.
6h0m3rJul 7, 2010
You guys do know that the 24 hours was almost a month ago right... this is going to run at the Lemans Classic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Mans_Classic which is for historic race cars. This Citroen run is probably more of an demonstration/media event/proof of concept and not a racecar yet.
willrsJul 7, 2010
however they're still going to have a 24 hour race from 4pm saturday to 4pm sunday.
