Yup, there's Dave's insanity sauce. This brings back painful memories. One drop in Chili is barely tolerable, so word to the wise, never ever dip a chip with that concoction as a dare.
captininsanityAug 4, 2010
Daves Ultimate Insanity is awesome sauce! I would also recommend any ghost pepper sauces if you've never tried them. Ghost pepper tastes great imo because its a very warm natural feeling burn instead of getting that sharp taste extracts give.
lansacroAug 4, 2010
I remember being 16 and very, very foolish...I don't think my tongue ever really forgave me.

I have a bottle of Dave's Insanity in my fridge... as well as about 20 other hot sauces. Dave's is just one of the "moderately hot" ones.
captininsanityAug 4, 2010
Dave's is good because it's flavor and spice. Not just spice for the sake of spice like 357. Ghost pepper powder is really good all around.
Closed AccountAug 4, 2010
True. I've tried hotter sauces than Dave's and regretted it. Ultimate Insanity Sauce is really hot enough for anything.
jordanmcAug 5, 2010
I once licked a drop of Dave's Insanity Sauce off of my finger on a dare, and ended up on a different floor of the building I was in with no recollection of how I got there.
7king7kingAug 3, 2010
I like spicy food. it's also healthy.
tharjuAug 4, 2010
I like spicy food too. We went to Sichuan style restaurant last week and ordered this chili with crab: https://s-hphotos-ash2.fbcdn.net/hs120.ash2/39345_432003527896_532097896_4884035_5679297_n.jpg
after we devoured it: https://s-hphotos-snc4.fbcdn.net/hs249.snc4/39764_432003897896_532097896_4884038_7899916_n.jpg (notice we also eat those yucky stuff inside the shell as well)
it was insanely good...in the end i was sweating like a pig.

"A chocolate bar made with the hottest pepper on Earth"
THAT is WRONG! Do NOT mess with the chocolate and no one gets hurt!
Do you understand???
Closed AccountAug 3, 2010
I got a chocolate bar with hot pepper in it a year or so ago. It was an interesting experience and not one I'm likely to repeat. But I love chocolate with orange!

You're sick. Sick. Sick.

I lived in Belgium for 5 years. They put all kinds of accompaniments with chocolate.

Milka with Black Pepper FTW!
schwab002Aug 4, 2010
I love spicy chocolate. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had was chili chocolate

Just remember...when it GOES IN hot ... it also comes out relatively hot.
dillnAug 4, 2010
This person speaks truth. I did the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazing Challenge, and those wings shot through my body faster and hotter than Taco Bell.

If you eat enough spicy food, you don't really feel the burn on the way out anymore. Or maybe I just fried my nerves down there from all the spicy food :-/
mcquittyAug 4, 2010
My saying is: If it doesn't burn twice, it wasn't nearly hot enough!

Especially when you wash it down with straight vodka.
mstachiwAug 3, 2010
As I read this I just drizzled about 10 drops of Habanero Tabasco on a chicken wrap.
In my 20s I was more daring with hot peppers. In fact someone gave me home grown habanaro peppers and I was able to eat it whole since I built a tolerance. I dared my cousin to do the same... he drank a quart of milk and ate an entire loaf (small not family size) of bread over a period of 12 minutes to soften the heat.

Here is my experience with that after just one bite...

i am jennifer lopez, and i like tacos. tacos tacos burritos
drastik21Aug 4, 2010
do you give taco flavored kisses?
specimen7Aug 4, 2010
That ultimate insanity sauce is hardly a spicy food compared to something like "The source". Daves sauce is only 180,000 Scoville units compared to "The source" which registers 7.1 million Scoville units.
bdbrAug 4, 2010
At some point it just stops being a "taste" and becomes a sensation of pain.
mcquittyAug 4, 2010
There's also "The Man" from Dixie's BBQ (Seattle) and "Hot as a Mutha" at Heaven on Seven in Chicago.
Hot. I took a spoonful of "The Man". Hot. My co-workers couldn't handle the toothpick of it.
bigdorkaramaAug 4, 2010
Eating this sort of stuff is the equivalent of starring on "Ow My Balls."
rudeturnipAug 4, 2010
I remember the mid 1990s when jalapenos finally made their way to the East coast and everyone thought you'd be crazy to eat something so hot.
prodigitalsonAug 4, 2010
seriously? how could you live without jalapeno's?
lunachiqueAug 4, 2010
There's an ice cream parlor called Sunni Sky's in North Carolina that serves an ice cream called Cold Sweat. You have to sign a waiver to even have a sample of it! It's made with Dave's Insanity sauce, and a few other choice sauces along with ghost peppers too.
bdbrAug 4, 2010
Dugg for "A full metal death chili and chocolate bitch slap."
theungodAug 4, 2010
Is this all west coast stuff for a reason? I've had a chili challenge at some cafe near western MA which was by far hotter than anything I've ever had. You had to eat 3oz of chili and not drink anything for 5 minutes afterward. I did it, but I thought I was going to puke blood for an hour after. It seriously wasn't worth it.
locondcocoAug 4, 2010
perhaps its because the blog is from "SF Weekly". the SF meaning San Francisco. Besides, there's NY joint in there. and another is a bottled sauce. so 3/5 is west coast.
beervolcanoAug 4, 2010
Fry's Marketplace carries dried ghost chilis. I normally put a couple jalapeƱos in my fried rice to give it a little kick (yeah, I'm Asian, so what). Just for s**ts and giggles, I decided to use half a ghost chili instead. It actually added a lot of flavor, not just spiciness. There was a slight smokiness. The heat was there immediately and built up with each bite, but it didn't linger too long. It's now a regular ingredient and everyone loves it.
prodigitalsonAug 4, 2010
hmm ill have to try that i usually just use dried szechuan's or through sirracha on it afterwards.
misteratozAug 4, 2010
I was stupid enough to rub a bit of this stuff into my eyes in middle school (habenero death sauce) , bad bad memories....

Someone I know took a month to eat the smaller portion and he constantly added yoghurt between every attempt to cool it down and it made next to no difference

I'm not getting why it was necessary for the writer to go out of his way to say that these foods are the hottest in 'the united states' you could eat any of this s**t on the moon, and it wouldn't make a difference.
Closed AccountAug 4, 2010
I don't think a beer and having my picture taken would be enough to try that curry. I like to enjoy my meals I pay good money for in restaurants.
wdfadudeAug 4, 2010
Another poorly-researched and lame list of the "spiciest" foods. There are literally hundreds of hot sauces, chile peppers and spicy dishes that far exceed these. Just a sampling of them are listed here: http://www.scottrobertsweb.com/scoville-scale.php

Cool story bro time!
Some of my friends and I one entered chili in a contest and then got DQ'd for making our chili too hot. Apparently the DQ was for making accurate judging of the remaining contestants impossible. They should have imported judges from Texas and Louisiana, not bland midwesterners
falconearAug 4, 2010
I remember eating some curry at an Indian place once with a friend of mine. It was so hot we were sweating, and then got the giggles. We just couldn't stop laughing at any stupid ass thing somebody would say. So here's my question (hey, I'll do it in Reddit style, lol)
Dear Digg,
Does spicy enough food make you high?
asus3000Aug 9, 2010
I used to be caught up in the "how hot can I take" macho stupidity, then I lived in Europe and learned to balance all flavors for a better experience.
