Some may call it gaming Digg, but this is what is vital for being successful on Digg.

Agreed. Sometimes it is hard to do, but I try to make it no more than 3 a day.

.. and diggs. We can't have too too much blind digging. But the system will always be gamed somehow by multiple accounts and other hacks that don't come to mind right now. Not concerned about getting frontpage status. I just Digg and submit stories I care about and live in a niche with a network of 'friends'. Adding new contacts by following threads of users that digg other stuff I am interested in and passionate about.
I can't find any way to view friends submissions in new.digg. Hopefully it allows you to set up RSS feeds.

f**king buried. The last thing Digg needs is more of this s**t. It's no better than an ad explaining how to get high Google placement using linkfarms or getting a lot of Twitter followers by creating thousands of spam accounts. It's sleazy SEO bulls**t that needs to die in a fire.
And it's not even accurate. I've submitted 149 stories and had 7 make the front page (5%). That may not sound like a lot, but I accomplished it without shouts, without Twitter, and with only a handful of friends -- people who I friended only because I liked what they had to say, not because I wanted to engage in some dodgy "YOU DIGG ME I'LL DIGG YOU NO DEADBEATS LOL" nonsense.
All it takes is finding high-quality, interesting content that the community enjoys, plus a little bit of luck. Or at least that's what it should take. But some people just aren't happy unless they're gaming the system and ruining it for everyone else. Tragedy of the f**king commons.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Nothing in that article is there any part that advocates spamming or gaming Digg.
