...and ppl still say that climate change is a lie...
Closed AccountAug 14, 2010
I think you are misunderstood.
I don't think many people think that climate change is a lie, I think they think man made climate change is a lie.
There is a huge difference.
Climate change exists. It's been happening forever. I just don't think humans had much part in it.

Climate change is a lie! Last winter was so cold!!! I don't need your so-called "facts," commie. I go with the unscientific observations I make from my small, self-created bubble and with whatever Fox News tells me to believe.

...and ppl still say that ppl still say that climate change is a lie...
You fail to understand the argument of the 'other side'.
myztryAug 14, 2010
I'm blaming the Neanderthals for the ice age.
These things just can't happen on their own accord...
goweigusAug 14, 2010
no
they just say that humans may not be as big a part of it as everything else on the planet and inside this chunk of the galaxy
xtx7xAug 14, 2010
Where are you guys getting your facts? The overwhelming scientific opinion is that climate change *is* caused by man. This includes: AAAS, NAS, NOAA, the Pentagon, NASA, and every national academy of science of the industrial world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
myztryAug 14, 2010
The Pentagon is a political instrument, not a scientific one...
xtx7xAug 14, 2010
That doesn't change the fact that they are specifically tasked with determining the best course of action for preserving our national security. They have assessed the possible outcomes of climate change and have determined it to be one of the greatest threats to our national security.
demondiggerAug 12, 2010
It is incredibly disheartening that the poorest countries with the smallest ecological footprint have to bear the burden of climate change.
doctechnicalAug 14, 2010
Rich countries have a large ecological footprint. Poor countries have a small ecological footprint. Ergo the way to national wealth is to increase your ecological footprint. QED.
stuffradioAug 14, 2010
Yeah it is. What kind of climate change are you speaking of?
latexsolarbeefAug 12, 2010
Forget sinking, what if they capsize?!

...it's not a lie, at this point Alaska is gonna have some Malibu-style beachfront property, get in now: Alaska For Climate Change
redkulatAug 13, 2010
It's come to the point where it's not a matter of IF it will happen, but when?
chrizzly89Aug 13, 2010
Lets pretend there is no climate change and keep living like we do now.
I mean it IS really uncomfortable not to drive the Humvee to your kid's baseball game right?

ymegAug 13, 2010
This is just more liberal propaganda to convince us that burning millions of years worth of sequestered fuel is somehow bad.
teacher2beAug 13, 2010
f**k you Earth and your natural cycles!
echovolkAug 14, 2010
but.....climate change is just a "liberal conspiracy" perpetuated by the elitist scientists in order to get us to give up our freedoms and ride bikes to work, right? I mean....those photos of melting ice sheets & glaciers are just photoshopped by Al Gore, right?
halyardAug 14, 2010
According to Obama, change is good. Why is teh Discovery Channel so racist?
themachine1Aug 14, 2010
These countries need to do what Fuji did and start shipping their excess water out in bottles for the rest of the world to drink.
scooternrocketAug 14, 2010
Yeh because shipping water is such a brilliant idea, for vain people to buy when they can just open a tap. Whats next bottle air?
akairennAug 14, 2010
"Whats next bottle air?"
Find me a brainless Hollywood bimbo to shoot an ad, and I'll be buying a nine thousand and one foot yacht with the profits by next Tuesday. Then, in the next quarter, we'll introduce 'flavored' air. Now you can inhale the scent of fresh laundry! Without doing laundry!
Join me. Together, we can rule the unwashed masses as... Two Digg commentors, or something.
scooternrocketAug 14, 2010
Sounds like a plan, lets get a well reknown scientist like Paris Hilton to handle the science and publicity.
ferretmanAug 14, 2010
@Scooter - Bottled air is already a product on the shelves, I'm afraid:

Boring and pointless?
herrmerkelAug 14, 2010
with dennis hopper on an old oil tanker pwning everyone because they use fuel and guns
ryanwbAug 14, 2010
Wait, are they sinking or is the water level rising? There is a big difference as the latter would suggest they are not on stable ground. Stupid misleading title....
krandenAug 14, 2010
/checks to make sure America is not on the list
Everything is fine whew nothing to worry about here.
roborayAug 14, 2010
Well, except south Florida, but that's no major loss.
myztryAug 14, 2010
Where I live, it would result my city "moving" to the coast which is good for us but not so good for those already on a coast...
kaysea112Aug 14, 2010
The developed nations better start figuring out how to compensate these countries.
ultramagnus0001Aug 14, 2010
My father went to Guyana at the beach in Berbice where he grew up and said he used to have to walk like a mile to get to the water and now it's right there.
ultramagnus0001Aug 14, 2010
I know the article is about countries, but I remember watching something about Venice on TV.

How much have sea levels risen in the last 100 years?
ihydraAug 14, 2010
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=How+much+have+sea+levels+risen+in+the+last+100+years%3F
Closed AccountAug 14, 2010
Per wikipedia: Think about it...
Current sea level rise has occurred at a mean rate of 1.8 mm per year for the past century, and more recently, during the satellite era of sea level measurement, at rates estimated near 2.8 ± 0.4 to 3.1 ± 0.7 mm per year (1993–2003).
Since the Last Glacial Maximum about 20,000 years ago, sea level has risen by over 120 m (averaging 6 mm/yr) as a result of melting of major ice sheets. A rapid rise took place between 15,000 and 6,000 years ago at an average rate of 10 mm/yr which accounted for 90 m of the rise; thus in the period since 20,000 years BP (excluding the rapid rise from 15-6 kyr BP) the average rate was 3 mm/yr.
ssomu007Aug 14, 2010
The effect is different in each countries. In some countries, Climate change make hot or warm but in some others. It is sinking or the water is rising up.
jebzakiAug 14, 2010
so i was reading the list thinking "aww these poor countries that have to deal with this" then bam!! Barbados is on the list WTF i live in Barbados! near the sea!!!!!!
stuffradioAug 14, 2010
Better get your Snorkle and flippers on... you're about to go on a wild ride!
stanly22Aug 14, 2010
I was expecting the US on that list. But I thought it was about economies.
crystalagehaAug 14, 2010
I thought that, too. "Sinking" is a very misleading term in this situation.
londubhAug 14, 2010
What about The Netherlands or Florida? Anyway, no one is really sinking. The water is rising.
ferretmanAug 14, 2010
Buried as inaccurate....the basis of the article is that climate change is has anything to do with mankind and that has yet to be proven....
alskeltonAug 14, 2010
SINKING??? thats about as funny as cali becoming its own state
bactameAug 14, 2010
How is sealevel doing in the Netherlands? What's going on in Floridian coastal areas? Don't give up the ship, in 20,000 years or so glacial advances should be pulling sealevels back down several hundred feet and the Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin will be covered in ice. That should get those gas guzzlers out of the Midwest.
khass05Aug 14, 2010
What about the Netherlands?
Closed AccountAug 14, 2010
They are too clever to sink, 21% of the population already lives under sea-level :)
stuffradioAug 14, 2010
Remember guys, Climate change does not mean man made global warming. Machines should still become more efficient though.
kasha34Aug 14, 2010
If sea levels are rising then shouldn't that show up in all countries with a coastline?

Warning: impending pedantry.
Sinking implies the islands themselves are moving, which is not the case. The islands are being submerged.
zlikoAug 14, 2010
those lying volcanoes on Venus, they said it wasn't their fault Venus is heating up and that it's prolly Sun's fault...it's a natural Venus climate change, not volcano made change...few kazillion tons of CO2 won't have any influence on it...
sking737Aug 14, 2010
