they forgot take a teaspoon a day to lessen bee sting alergies. and seriously did they need to keep saying the same thing over and over? lol. seems like the editor gave the author a task of write and article that gives 20 different uses for honey. the author couldnt think of 20 and could only think of 4. lol. softn lips oh soften elbows. oh soften skin oh take a bath. oh boosts energy. oh go the extra mile. oh speeds up metabolism oh lose weight. lol
ajh16Sep 6, 2011
Agreed, I ended up burying this article not because it didn't have some interesting points, but rather because it was scratching the bottom of the barrel rehashing the same use in different forms instead of giving a meaningful list.
theghoulSep 6, 2011
Gotta love that bee spit.
arredamenticasaSep 6, 2011
wonderfull!
paintballer747Sep 6, 2011
Honey is also one of the only nonperishable foods we know of.
pen25Sep 6, 2011
depends. botulism does run high in honey. also shuoldnt be given to the sick or babies.
superkendallSep 6, 2011
The botulism in honey is only a concern for infants, not adults. After a year or so even kids are safe to eat it.
charlotte_webSep 6, 2011
Really? Because I've had honey get brown and start crystallizing from leaving it in the pantry after a few years.
shaidownSep 6, 2011
warm it up in the microwave or on the stove and it will be right back to normal again.
charlotte_webSep 6, 2011
Did not know that... interesting.
hillsfarSep 6, 2011
They've found honey stored for about 2 thousand years in Egyptian burial tombs and fed it to animals in tests.
JOSHINGYOU123 Sep 6, 2011
actually you shouldn't nuke honey in the microwave, it taints the taste because it's being burnt from the inside out.
Just put the bottle or jug in hot water. The water will warm it up and liquify it again.
raw honey crystalizes after a couple weeks, but commercial honey is first heated to 140 degrees for several minutes before bottled, this is like pasteurizing milk. When heated it doesn't crystalize as fast, so it lasts on store shelves for months, making retailers happy.
superkendallSep 6, 2011
That doesn't mean it's not edible. To me that's when it really starts to get tasty, when crystalized...
JOSHINGYOU123 Sep 6, 2011
That's creamed honey. It's a delicacy where you take crystals and seed the honey, and then whip it up so it's half crystal half honey. It's worth twice as much as liquid honey. There are videos and instructions on how to make it.

preserve magic mushrooms and negate the gag effect. let sit uncovered a few days, end result, trippy, crunchy brain candy. ***WARNING, leave out of reach of parents***
plebesotericistSep 6, 2011
Put some honey on cigar rolling paper, and fill the cigar with your herb of choice. The honey will slow down how quickly the herb burns.
meccaydnaSep 6, 2011
Surprised they don't mention the color changes that honey out there. The actual honey color depends on the pollinated plant that was used to create it. Sometimes it's not even yellow....
anonadminSep 6, 2011
Ill add one here,
honey is naturally anti-fungal. My daughter had a bad case of Athletes Foot. Took a bandage, covered her foot in honey, wrapped it up, put a bag over it (To reduce the mess), and left it over night. Two or three days later, her athletes foot was gone! Worked better than all the over the counter stuff we tried. --- Special Thanks to my Grandma for suggesting it.
superkendallSep 6, 2011
Although it kind of goes with "treat wounds", one use you may not think of is bee stings - it stops the pain very rapidly. I try to take a small packet with me hiking although you want to keep it sealed in a extra plastic bag or two because if honey gets out anywhere it's a terrible mess!
hillsfarSep 6, 2011
Make sure it's real honey, not corn syrup.
superkendallSep 6, 2011
Yes, good point.
JOSHINGYOU123 Sep 6, 2011
and not KFC honey, that's spicy
eschercubeSep 6, 2011
Honey seems to have a lot of duplicate uses. For example: Put it on your skin (#1, #2, #7, #10, #12, #13). Get an energy boost (#5, #8, #16).
Crystal99Sep 6, 2011
Great! Honey can help to avoid some illness as well.
starmanjonesSep 6, 2011
mead... mans first alcohol buzz. how could they leave that out. gets no better if you find a serious mead brewer...
JudyAMeibachSep 6, 2011
Honey is quite good for you when you think about it - it helps with burns = also it is better than sugar and just as sweet
JOSHINGYOU123 Sep 6, 2011

2 thumbs up for natural remedies. Its my belief that theres a natural remedy for everything, just because you don't know of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist
rjoplingSep 7, 2011
how many times can you put the same uses. the author should have called it 5 uses.
parsticesSep 7, 2011
Smear it on your balls, and let your dog lick it off.
JOSHINGYOU123 Sep 6, 2011
It's also KOSHER since it's not really a product of bees. It's just a broken down state of sugar / half digested.
mawdsSep 6, 2011
Manuka Honey is the best, it can kill MRSA.
If I have an off stomach, a teaspoon of that and in 10mins it's settled.

Someone else said it above, mead.
One part honey, 4 parts water. Boil for an hour, add spices during the boil. Pour into a sterilized air locked carboy. Add champagne yeast when cooled.
Wait 6 months.
Drink up
Use leftover honey for the headache you will most certainly get.

A tablespoon every so often is supposed to lessen the tears around a dog's eyes if they frequently get crusty s**t around them.
charlotte_webSep 6, 2011
Bo Derek had the best use of it in Tarzan the Ape Man.

Here is one they forgot:
Eating that honey — just a spoonful a day — can build up immunity through gradual exposure to the local allergens that can make life so miserable for allergy sufferers (Its a process called immunotherapy -- the small amount of spores and pollen in the honey give a minor exposure to allergens without triggering the effect while at the same time helping build up an immunity)
