I always thought that Suzuki was a motorcyle, but I still think that way about Honda
badqatAug 15, 2010Submitter
I still think of Honda as an engine strapped to a bicycle.
And get off my lawn!

Time will tell. I loved my Sebring. Had an accident in it, and it held it's ground.

Please be more careful when you're driving! :D

I was crossing and instead of slowing, the man stepped on the gas pedal. His second mistake was instead of going behind me and missing me, he drove to the front of my car. My car spun but never turned over. Of course, I had to climb over the console because my door was smashed in.

The key is just win and lead motogp. Suzuki will increase the market and take more profitable.

I forgot Suzuki made cars.
lvaneedeAug 17, 2010
How could you forget? The Swift (which is a great car) is everywhere.

Suzuki:
*Built in Japan with actual quality materials
*Awesome warranty, one of the best out there
*A fairly decent 4WD system that offers the best of both worlds, front-drive familiarity to people who like that and 4WD usage in situations that warrant it
This is such a good deal that it probably will be lost on everyone.

I actually own a 'zuki - a 2008 SX-4 that I bought new. Sticker of $18k, OTR price of $12.6k. That's under $13k for a car with all the power options (windows, locks, mirrors - heated, too, steering wheel cruise and audio controls), 17" aluminum wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, etc. in a decent looking and decent performing package.
Yes, 'zuki dealers are willing to deal. When I bought mine, all three of the dealers within 30 miles of me were willing to cut the exact same deal - give or take a hundred or so.
I just turned over 24,000 miles and the thing has been perfect the entire time. Not a single issue with the car. And I'm not really worried about having an issue, because I still have a year of bumper to bumper left, and of course, the 100k mile powertrain warranty.
Needless to say, I'm a big 'zuki fan.

We had it down between the SX4 and the Mazda5, but needed the extra seat/room. We were close, though. I'd still get it again.
I used to have an X-90 and it was bulletproof. The only problem we had with it was a little rust because of Canadian winters, but no car is immune to that. I'm a big Suzuki fan, back from the Geo Metro days. It's the best-kept secret out there. It's cheaper than the other Japanese competitors and at worst is equally as reliable and built.
I've owned Toyotas, Nissans and Hondas and all had more problems than my Suzuki.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/suzuki-preparing-to-exit-u-s-market.html hope this isn't true ... :(

I hope it's just them getting things more competitive.
I think Suzuki needs to think bigger, like the article said with partnerships, especially with emerging Chinese and eventually Indian makers.
Suzuki has a good partnership with Maruti and then a long history with Daewoo. If they could have more marques or partnerships it would be good.
A dealer was telling me recently that Subaru keeps approaching them for a dealership, even offering incentives, but they want them to build a standalone Subaru store and the family keeps telling them "no", that if they build a new location, they want more just Subaru. It can't carry anything by itself.
Suzuki and Fuji Heavy already have partnerships. Maybe they need to get realistic and roll some Suzuki dealers into Subaru dealers. There was also an existing network of Pontiac, Saturn, Izuzu and Saab dealerships.
Suzuki has partnerships with GM and they've worked together for a long time. Geo at Chevrolet was an example. All of these dealers that lost Pontiac should have picked up Suzuki. That always blew my mind. I asked this dealer...I guess I should remain vague about who it is as it's proprietary info, but I said it to him and he said the same thing. They wanted to add Subaru to replace Pontiac and Subaru was like "nope, standalone" and they told them to take a hike.
In that vein, Chevy/Suzuki makes a TON of sense. Many old guys at Chevy dealerships are used to working on Suzuki and Daewoo models. Geo owners have fond memories of them. You don't have to call it Geo again. But why not take GM dealers who had Pontiac and have Suzuki/Daewoo dealerships? And then take the old Saturn/Saab/Isuzu dealers and have them go Suzuki, and when cheaper Chinese and Indian marques come along, they can sell them. They'll already be set up. And I think Subaru could absorb some Suzuki as well.

I have an 08 SX4 crossover myself. Great little car for the price. Cheapest all wheel drive car you can get. The mileage is rather poor for a car that size, but I traded that for the AWD. Only thing that's had a problem is the compressor died, but it's all warrantied so got replaced 100% free. Otherwise the car has been perfect. I'd definitely get another when this one dies.

I don't think yours will ever die ^^

Suzuki might not even be in the US market in a few years, I sure as hell wouldn't buy one of their vehicles.
I drove this car. It's got a solid chassis, is mildly attractive, and has a good price. It feels like the kind of car that's almost as good as the best cars in class for a bit less money. The interior looks OK, and it's screwed together well, but I wasn't as impressed with the materials and look as this gentlemen seems to have been. The Suzuki motor is probably reliable but not as enjoyable as similar engines in the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord, and I'd rather spend a few hundred extra dollars for that extra little something.
Is it just me or does "hit one out of the ballpark" not really jive with the conclusions reached in the article? The writer kind of waffles around, never getting too excited, and points out the faults or mediocrity of the vehicle as often as the positives. Having a design that looks like it ripped off a half dozen other five year old car designs isn't a positive, IMO. It's obvious he doesn't think the vehicle is bad car, but then again almost none of the vehicles in this class are bad cars. It's different degrees of good, and this car still, in my opinion, slides in under the Fusion, Accord, Mazda 6, and Altima. The Subaru Legacy is good too, it's just fugly these days.

The new hyundai '11 sonata with direct injection blows this car out of the water in terms of price / features / power / fuel economy, pretty much everything in comparison. Autoblog drove it around the hills of san diego and got an average of 37 miles per gallon.... http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/2011-hyundai-sonata-review/
smacksawAug 16, 2010
Yeah, we're looking hard at the Sonata. That car is huge. Hell, even the last-gen Sonata was an impressive vehicle. I got to the point where I'd only rent that car, and I'm a RWD fan and Budget/Avis were offering me Chargers.
