Its a trap!, by level 20.. you are already addicted
zetadogJun 30, 2011
Did you expect anything else? By lvl 1 you're already addicted!
wildcardz12Jun 30, 2011
Crack dealers do the same thing.
stuffradioJun 30, 2011
Not if you start a new character when you get to level 20 :D
illinestJun 30, 2011
still not interested.
crbrownlJun 30, 2011
Agreed, I have this thing called real life, and it's free to play as well.
bcronosJun 30, 2011
Real life isn't really free, but it's infinitely more interesting...
isaac7719Jun 30, 2011
Real life is free to play?
Real life is free if all you do is sit naked on a rock outside.
arkzJun 30, 2011
which is great fun and something you should all try!
shingoexJun 30, 2011
Sounds like a drug dealer.
"Here...the 1st bit's free...but then I gotta start charging you"
elmokilla123Jun 30, 2011
All Free To Play MMO CEO's are facepalming themselves right now.
nickchopperJun 30, 2011
Free to Play is quickly becoming the trend of the year.
herojonJul 1, 2011
Hopefully hookers catch on to the trend. ;-)
zbeastJun 30, 2011
drugs is my anti-wow
elmuerte17Jun 30, 2011
Well, since a person can hit level 20 in about five hours now, this really isn't spectacular.
herojonJul 1, 2011
Or they could use recruit a friend and hit level 80 in 4 minutes with level granting?
elmuerte17Jul 1, 2011
Or they could use eBay and have level 85 with full Tier 11 in four minutes.
herojonJul 1, 2011
Sure if they want to throw an extra $185 away.
biergutlolJun 30, 2011
It's not actually full on free to play. They just removed the ten day restriction of the trial. You still can't use the auction house, can't join groups, carry only 10 gold and whatever
Duel1stJun 30, 2011
Cool:)
koushiroJun 30, 2011
Level 20? That's like 3 hours of playing given how the game is now. :/
14 days was a way better deal!
elmuerte17Jul 1, 2011
You couldn't go past level 20 with the 14-day trial anyway. In fact, this is exactly the same, except without the 14-day limit.
koushiroJul 1, 2011
Really? Well learn something new every day.
castroman2007Jun 30, 2011
#2012 comes closer....
cynthianewsJun 30, 2011
Awesome.
alleranJun 30, 2011
It voids itself out, because the first month is free to begin with lol
rudegarJun 30, 2011
boost me through The Deadmines plzzzzzz
so I can reach the cap and stop this game
xraymasterJun 30, 2011
Once you go Warcraft...you won't be free to do anything!
acidfairyyJun 30, 2011
Oh that's cool. Will definitely give it a go now!
brokenanimatorJul 1, 2011
If you thought trade chat was bad before, just wait! It's free now, the flood gates are open!
mogwuyJul 1, 2011
I hate WoW. All my friends were addicted to it, and so whenever I went to hang out, they just sat there and played it. I tried to get into it but couldn't it was too repetitive and time consuming. Someone needs to hack the servers or something
ScarredAngelJun 30, 2011
As a player that has just recently cancelled (going inactive 7/14) this is a desperate jab to get more players for two reasons. 1. They underestimated Rift and the player base it would suck away. 2.) Star Wars the Old Republic is going to be released soon, at which time (if it is HALFWAY) decent, WoW will go down the same road to death that Everquest went down when WoW was first released.
Blizzard is totally cognizant of the games declining popularity - which is why they have amped up their personnel on their next big MMO (starcraft...god I hope), as well as built the anticipation for Diablo which will suck even more players from WoW .
...hear that ringing in the distance, those are the death bells of Warcraft.
mikepictorJun 30, 2011
kotor won't kill WoW, not by a long shot, but it may do a decent job of taking some of the wind out of their sales.
ScarredAngelJun 30, 2011
Maybe not...it may be just another paper tiger, like many of the previous wow killers..(Aion, Warhammer, GuildWars, etc..). But the one thing that it does have, that is necessary for a successful MMO...lore/story.
krashtJun 30, 2011
Even if WoW loses millions upon millions of their player base, they will still have more players than any other MMO out there and they will still be making a profit.
elmuerte17Jul 1, 2011
Taking the 14-day limit off their free trial that has been available for six years is a sign of Blizzard's desperation?
Doomsayers have been saying the bell is tolling for WoW for the past five years. They still have millions of subscribers. After SW:TOR is released, RIFT has a couple xpacs, Guild Wars 2 comes out, Blizzard's next MMO and Diablo 3 are all out, WoW will still have plenty of people playing it.
That game isn't going to die until Blizzard themselves pull the plug on their servers (and even then, people will still be on the free emulated servers). Don't believe me? Ultima Online is fourteen years old and still has fifty thousand subscribers. Everquest still has subscribers. Anarchy Online, which has adopted a "freemium" model, still turns a profit.
xaulted1Jun 30, 2011
Ploy to try to gain new subscribers to make up for the huge chunk that went Rift.
nickchopperJun 30, 2011
Free to Play is quickly becoming the trend of the year.
stuffradioJun 30, 2011
Your comment seems to be becoming the comment of the year...
ahaines9047Jul 19, 2011
I might need to start playing again to see if I can play and not get over level 20
