I wouldn't say it's better, the only differentiating factor is that Terraria has a fully functioning action bit. 3x the amount of enemies and a vast array of weapons compared to the paltry list of "different" swords minecraft has allowed itself.
Haven't played my minecraft account in quite some time but I'm sure I'd be more than willing to come back if they took a cue from Terraria :)

Minecraft has better development <> user relations. Notch keeps updating the game with real user input, I haven't seen anything from Terraria that comes close to that. Its another web game that is using users to make profit. The Minecraft userbase is strong and is helping develop the game just as much as Mojang is programming it...

Terraria and Minecraft are both good for different things. Terraria for combat and Minecraft for building.

Isn't Terraria a fully developed game and Minecraft still in Beta? Give it time.

I want a comparison between Dwarf Fortress and Terraria and Minecraft because I know each one will be tremendously addicting to me, but I only have time to play one and I can't risk sampling all three.

Have not played Terraria but the vids I've seen have me interested.
I have seen some people who got mad about games like Terraria that are ripping off Minecraft but I think Terraria is the best thing that could happen to Minecraft.
Notch can go ahead and steal anything he wants from the design of Terraria under the pretense that it was going to be in Minecraft all along. All similarities will be blamed on Terraria. All the innovation will be credited to Notch.
I do think that Minecraft would benefit from looking very closely at the ideas in Terraria and emulating what works in that game.
